Everybody loves the Matt Damon cameo, but the Lucy lawless cameo in the S&M club with the safe word is one of the funniest damn things I’ve ever seen in my life
The Matt Damon cameo happened because the screenwriters of EuroTrip were his college friends and asked him to appear in their film while he was in Prague shooting another movie
Yup, he was shooting The Brothers Grimm, quite a different movie to this one, the reason his head was shaved was because he had to wear a wig in his other movie.
I love that in the Wundersex club the two big henchmen are Hans and Gruber...as in Hans Gruber the name of the antagonist in "Die Hard" I think that is overlooked!
I'm 43 that song is in my head pretty often not on a daily basis but I probably start humming it at least I don't know every week or two it's been awhile since I actually watched this movie but I f****** love this movie there are so many parts that I'm like yes classic I was telling my dad the other day that it sucks that as a Catholic I didn't really know about the whole thing in Rome except from this movie you know the different colors of smoke representing something about the Pope she's like yeah you definitely should have known that and I was like since when have I been to Rome 😅 she's like well popes have died since you've been alive I was like fair enough
"I have no idea what Matt Damon is doing in this..." Matt was in Prague shooting Brothers Grimm, with his head shaved for a wig, and was able to give them a day for his cameo. The sheer weight of hilarious cameos really make Eurotrip a modern classic.
This film is seriously underappreciated. I know it's silly and all that but it's just a step above the usual fare in this category. I've seen it several times and I still laugh every time Coop is talking to his boss on the phone. It's such a good bit. I heard people still download "Scotty Doesn't Know" from their favorite platform.
Totally agree. It's not just a raunchy comedy, it's warm and has a lot of heart. Underneath all the raunchy stuff and the comedy it's the story of a group of friends going all out to help and support another friend.
That’s the beauty of movies from this era. I can watch them several times and they still crack me up. Maybe i’m wrong but i’ve yet to see a movie more than once that’s been released in the last 5-10 years. There might be a few outliers but overall, this era of movie is kind of a magical time with regard to comedy and pushing boundaries.
Scotty Doesn't Know is still one of the greatest songs ever created. I still listen to it on my playlist to this day. Also, it's such an underrated movie. For those who watched it back in the day will never forget that Scotty doesn't know. I loved his friend getting a promotion after being MIA the whole internship.
@@Cadinho93 It was by Luxtra, wasn't it? Or Lustra or sth like that. Crazy, the lead singer sounds totally similar to Matt Damon. So, it's technically not Damon singing in the movie, Idk if he even can sing. But most people think it is him.

I took a girl out to see this movie on a date when I was a senior in high school. I was cracking up the whole time and I don’t think she laughed even once. Thank you for saving me on that one Eurotrip 😄
"Scotty Doesn't Know" - Greatest song ever written for a film. Also, one of the greatest collection of cameos ever for a film: Matt Damon, Thomas Lennon, Lucy Lawless, Diedrich Bader, Fred Armison, Vinnie Jones, David Hasselhoff.
Matt Damon appeared because I think he is friends with the screenwriters and he was doing another movie nearby. He has also said when folks see him they usually say one of three things to him. 'Matt Damon', 'Where's Ben' and 'Scotty doesn't know'.
*_According to Damon himself: He explains that he knew the writers and directors of EuroTrip - Jeff Schaffer, Alec Berg, and David Mandel - as they all went to college together at Harvard. The three of them got in touch with Damon while recording their movie and the actor was game to do a cameo._*
I love Vinnie Jones, the man is so underrated. My favorite role he plays was "Bullet Tooth Tony" in the movie "Snatch". Hilariously "Boris the bullet dodger" is also in this movie.
Being half Dutch-American, this movie is one of my all-time fave comedies. Also, being a fan of Manchester United, this makes me laugh everytime. The greatest team in all the land! 😂 Ohio Chapter. 😅 Btw, shhh, "Scotty doesn't know". 🤫 😂
this film is great! it holds up really well because it barely depends on pop-culture references, and all the 'stereotype' jokes are made in good faith without being deliberately offensive.
I always find it funny with this movie that all the European cities are shot in Prague, the train travel as well. They just slapped a landmark to the background and called it good. I do not think most people notice.
This was such a pleasant surprise when it came out. I had seen the original Road Trip in the theater and thought it was 'just ok'. When this came out, my friend wanted to see it, as he really enjoyed Road Trip. The laughs in this are so solid, and the performances (especially the best friend) have excellent comedic timing. Plus, Scott Doesn't Know! That song has been in my mp3 list for 20 years now, and when it pops up I still have to sing along. 😂😅
As an european myself, I can guarantee that everything you've whitness in this movie... is 100% accurate... We spent day and night boinking each other without any rhyme or reason... (Honestly, I can't tell how our economy can handle it)
This movie might be the most underrated comedy EVER. Every actor is perfect and Matt Damon is just awesome. Best and most unexpected scene ever.lso Cooper is COMEDY GOLD lmfao. I love this movie.
My favorite part of this movie is Jamie selling his camera so Scotty can get to Rome. In a movie filled with hilarity and sex, it is a stand out touching moment.
AbsoLUTELY wild to hear this guy is in Justified haha (on my list, soon I promise...). I was just thinking he has a face so perfect for being a goofball it's hard to imagine what roles he would get after aging past where he can get away with so many shenanigans...
Hands down one of the funniest movies to come out of that early 2000's era if not THE funniest and severely underrated. Didn't really find an audience until it hit home video.
7:22 "Zusammen" is spelled with ONE "s" and TWO "m" .... and it's not a verb, it just means "together".... But I still laugh my ass off, every time I watch this scene. All the German speaking roles and the scenes in which they speak German in this movie (esp that truck driver 😅🤭) are actually VERY convincing, authentic Germans.... Which you don't get often AT ALL from Hollywood. So this movie gets some extra credit just for that! 👍
Wenn ich mich richtig erinnere, gibt's in der Szene doch auch ein paar Frames wo der komplette E-Mail Text zu sehen ist ... und das Wort "Zus(s)am(m)en" ist da irgendwie gar nicht drin 😀
This movie is so much better than it has any right to be. So much fun. Back in the mid 70s my family lived in Romania for a year. Their version of Eastern Europe isn't that far off from what we saw. Except for the exchange rate, alas.
When it came out, it was a breath of fresh air. That was a bold movie that did not limit itself. It basically states what an American teenager imagines about a trip to Europe. My favorite phrase was, "I am never drinking again" and "enlighten me."
This is such a funny movie from that time. Glad you checked it out. That song by Matt Damon is actually so good though. If memory serves this was around the same time that Michelle Trachtenberg was on Buffy too.
Fun fact, majority of the movie was filmed in Prague, Czech Republic. Background like Big Ben, Eiffel tower and many more are added to it. As a local its funny to recognise the places 😃
watched this movie in the early 2000s and to this day scotty doesnt know song is still in all my mp3/phones and used it as ringtone multiple times over the years too
A must see for y'all is "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", 80's teen comedy with an entire galaxy of stars. The Sure Thing should also be on that list and also Streets of Fire.
SECOND HAND LION with Michael Caine, Robert Duvall & Haley Joel Osmont is a definite must for a wonderful comedy, adventure & love. You won't be disappointed. Love you guys & love watching your reactions.
Oh snap i didnt know Vinnie Jones is 8n this 😂 Hes the guy in the London Bar (Manchester United), hes Englands "hard man" in the football world, he was relentless in his day, absolute legend in the UK 😅...wow And Matt Damon too 😅😅
3:34 Mark! Howdy! 🤠 It is still oð for me to hear young American couples and young American people in general, talking about their civilian life experiences in Europe or even Asia, when I'm used to the anecdotes of my family's military experiences on both continents. Heck, I was born in Seoul, South Korea, thanks to my mother being one of the lical native girls whom Dad wasn't supposed to fraternize with! 😮
I was a junior in high school when this came out, and my buddy was a BIG fan of EuroTrip. He was a fan of Michelle Trachtenberg (Girl twin) who was known mostly for being in Buffy the Vampire Slayer back then. Definitely a lot of great cameos (Fred Armisen is the creepy Italian guy from SNL and now Portlandia), Kristin Kreuk was Scottie's cheating girlfriend known for Smallville, and Matt Damon with one of the most random cameos of all time, haha. Funniest part is that he had LITERALLY just done Bourne Identity two years prior, so to see him in this role, was even more hilarious than it is seeing it today. Lastly, it was cool to see a little bit of Jeffrey Tambor (Scottie's dad) who is best known these days for the show Arrested Development, but has been a great comedic actor since the early 80s. I'm partial to his work too because he went to my alma mater--San Francisco State University :)
I rewatched this movie recently. Still hilarious 20 years later! They don't make them like this anymore, I mean, some of the stuff you couldn't get away with in today's world
Omg, you did not just drop this!! 😅🥹🥹 I LOVE this film. And dare I say it ... WAY better than Road Trip. And Michelle Trachtenberg is one of my favorites, I'm currently rewatching Buffy! Terrific actress.
Other films similar to this I recommend watching include Road Trip and Tomcats. The actress playing Jenny, Michelle Trachtenberg, is also in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Inspector Gadget. The actor playing Cooper is also in The Pacific. The opening song is a French dubbed version of "My Generation" by Jet. The Madame is played by Lucy Lawless, who's also starred in Xena: Warrior Princess and Spartacus. The lead hooligan is played by Vinnie Jones, who's also in The Condemned, which I recommend watching
There's something about it that just seems more genuine than most other raunch coms. Even though the core four each have some stiffness in their performances, they really do seem to just be having a good time teasing and supporting each other, so it's got heart. They tried just enough but not too hard to make the plot make sense, so it's unpretentious but not just random. And the comedy somehow struck a great balance of iconic jokes and lines and scenes and cameos, and plenty of dumb stuff, so it ends up being super easy to laugh at and have a fun time.
Matt Damon only ended up in the movie cuz a few of the screenwriters were buddies of his from college. I believe he was in town to film something else (can't remember the movie) and they figured he would be perfect for a cameo. They were shocked he said yes given how busy he was but he was excited about it.
So this film is about Scotty who is an American high school graduate who travels across Europe in search of his German pen pal, Mieke. Accompanied by his friend Cooper and twin siblings Jenny and Jamie, Scott's quest takes him to England, France, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Germany and Italy, encountering awkward, humorous and embarrassing situations along the way.
I was disappointed in the unrated version. The IMDb says that the unrated DVD contains a number of deleted scenes, but they made it sound as if these would be included in the movie itself, rather than just as extras. I was hoping for an extended edition with all of them included. Of course, Scottie could have easily avoided the whole thing by simply emailing Mieke from a different account.
Ah yes, the movie of my people. Ohio class of 2004. I'm from the opposite side of Ohio though, pretty certain their HS was up in like Erie or somewhere which is basically PA.
Less important but still recommended: Cruel Intentions (because Mia Kirshner's bit is in NATM is HILARIOUS) Breakfast Club (because one very specific line is extra weird if you don't know what it's referencing, and also it's a classic) 10 Things I Hate About You (actually a good teen movie)
The guy who plays Cooper (Jacob Pitts) plays a great long running supporting role in the tv series Justified which you should totally check out. It also has Walton Goggins from Fallout in it.
That’s why it’s important to schedule ahead with the Louvre, you can skip the lines if you book ahead ahead, it’s the difference between a traveler and a tourist
Eurotrip is one of my favorite all-time movies. As others have no doubt pointed out Matt Damon went to college with, and was good friends with, the writers of the movie. He happened to be in Prague filming another movie when Eurotrip was being filmed there and so they talked him into the cameo. I have a friend from work who was going to a multi-day music festival in Europe with her husband and they made sure to also stop off in Bratislava because of her husband's love of the movie. This movie is so well done, I will never stop laughing at it.
I can honestly say that I don’t remember ever seeing Xena: Warrior Princess in the red light district of Amsterdam when I went there. But then again, that was the final stop before I came home from a three week long trip through Scotland and Norway, where I had basically been functionally hammered the whole time, only to land in Amsterdam and almost immediately got elevated, and stayed elevated until I was about halfway across the Atlantic on my way home. And I love that Boris the Bullet Dodger and Bullet Tooth Tony from Snatch are in this movie as well.
there's actually not THAT many movies to still watch before Not Another Teen Movie, the main plot and some of the bigger jokes are mostly from: She's All That (1999) The Breakfast Club (1985) Bring It On (2000) Cruel Intentions (1999) American Beauty (1999) Never Been Kissed (1999)
Everybody loves the Matt Damon cameo, but the Lucy lawless cameo in the S&M club with the safe word is one of the funniest damn things I’ve ever seen in my life

There are so many lines I remember from this even though I think I saw it maybe twice 20 years ago. It is so much better than it has any reason to be.
23:38 Samantha eyes and face reaction lol 😂🤣
With my first name being “Scott,” I got that song quoted at me All. The. Time back in the day. Thank you, Lustra.
Fred Armisen on the channel two days in a row!
Not Another Teen Movie is AWESOME!
But must watch:
She's All That
Varsity Blues
Less important but still recommended:
Cruel Intentions (because Mia Kirshner's bit is in NATM is HILARIOUS)
Breakfast Club (because one very specific line is extra weird if you don't know what it's referencing, and also it's a classic)
10 Things I Hate About You (actually a good teen movie)
Scotty doesn’t know lol 😂🤣
The guy who plays Cooper (Jacob Pitts) plays a great long running supporting role in the tv series Justified which you should totally check out. It also has Walton Goggins from Fallout in it.
He's great in Justfied.
I'm so glad more and more are reacting to this Classic I remember buying this movie in HS me and the boys loved it.
Awesome reaction of my favorite DreamWorks movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
This is going to be fun. Enjoy guys!!!
And I love that Boris the Bullet Dodger and Bullet Tooth Tony from Snatch are in this movie as well.
this movie was very cool to watch on repeat
there's actually not THAT many movies to still watch before Not Another Teen Movie,
the main plot and some of the bigger jokes are mostly from: She's All That (1999) The Breakfast Club (1985) Bring It On (2000) Cruel Intentions (1999) American Beauty (1999) Never Been Kissed (1999)
