I'm not even mad at the privileged boy, because he has always lived in a bubble, being celebrated for just existing and being pretty... I'm mad at Penguin for giving him all this resources without any criteria for making the book, and then he spent two years making selfies, knowing that doesn't matter if his photos are mediocre he would still get his book.

I’m going to sound like a hater here. Usually all this nepotism business doesn’t bother me but something about this book does. And it’s not really the subpar photos but the fact it was released as a legitimate photography book. There is so many wonderful photographers out there who could only dream of getting a book deal. They have the passion and want to share that with the world and make money from their craft, yet this guy gets signed so easily and releases this? It kind of feels like a slap in the face. There’s no story here, no substance. And most of the photos are in black and white probably because those are seen as more dynamic I assume. The layout is messy. Why do we need to see a mostly blank white page with only a small black and white mirror selfie? I just don’t understand.

I was on a studio and saw a photobook. Chapters were divided by genres of photography. Comparing to this one, I felt more appreciation with the craft and how photographers played with light. Captions were only the names of the respective photographers. As to this one, it's more of a autobiography with some photos in it. You need captions to clearly tell to the readers what's happening in the photo.

You’re right, this should have been marketed differently. Perhaps instead of giving it the introspective title "What I See", perhaps it could have been more realistically titled "My Collection of Selfies" or something like that. also, if the editor would have coax more descriptive text from him, I think it might have been OK. For example, letting us know what he was feeling when he took this selfie, or what he was thinking, or what the location was where he took a selfie and if it had any special meaning. A good editor could have made this book better.

His father is my all time favorite football player (in Europe we call it football because it is played using feet). When I was a teen I have dreamt to cross and kick like he did and I have spent most of the spare time practicing just that. I have heard that his kid has shot some campaign for some company and I have thought that he might be some prodigy using a camera. I guess money gives you that title, even if it is not the case. Hell, I have pictures on my hard drives that nobody other than me have seen and I am 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% positive that are way more interesting and can actually bring some sort of a value in some book than what this copy of Paris Hilton have presented in those pages. One can expect that all that abundance could have brought exceptional education, also from an aesthetic point of view... I guess it is not the case. Traveling around leaves you no time to study. To me it looks like he wants to brag at his fans/followers cost.

Brooklyn: Hey dad I want to make a photography book over the pics we took over the summer even though I have no experience. Oh and I want it done in 3 days.

There's nothing that frustrates me more in a photo book than negative space. Like it's bad enough that these selfies are just basic mirror selfies, but they're like 20% of the page. Why? Do a triptych, do something else. Use your words.

negative space is an important part of layout... If the page was filled with every inch there is no room for you eye to breathe / take in the photo.

They should've just hired you in his production team because these folk need to hear some realistic feedback before they put this out in the world. I would be embarrassed as a parent frfr

I really wasn't prepared for how bad this book was (I saw this video first), I thought the wedding photographer from the other video was bad and Jessica gave her the benefit of the doubt, so maybe it could be the same in this case, but no... this is just too bad

Damn, those poor trees that had to be sacrificed for this. That insane amount of CO2 that went in the air for this. Why.

LOL! Yes, proving talent skips a generation. Let me guess.....top of the line Leica camera.....selfies mostly, shots of expensive accessories, clothes, food. Mostly grunge.
