In this weeks rangers roundup we are here to react to the news that rangers has signed an agreement with the sfa to host their home games at hampden until the 5th of September, we look into the hampden deal itself and see what the sfa and rangers agreed to before discussing where it leaves us as a club going into the champions league play offs & rules for switching venue back if ibrox is made available for future games, we also look at clements strong words regarding recruitment and the situation the club is in regarding ins and outs with a bloaty wage bill and players not leaving..how do we improve the quality? this is our thoughts on this weeks topics whats yours?

Clement is absolutely the right man for this job, even if we have a poor start to this season. He has identified everything that is wrong with the club e.g. injuries, contracts, and player trading model. He can't sort that mess out in 8 months.

Not how it works unfortunately mate, materials with long lead-in times are usually ordered well in advance but other than doing that there's not a lot anyone can control re. shipping delays, if you push back all the work until all the materials are there then it takes longer to finish anyway so would likely be in the same position and as someone else has pointed out, you have to pay for storage and security of materials you're not using right away

Too much unrest at rangers three seasons of drama and strange decisions that has cost the club dearly, yes rangers do well in Europe but in the league it's poor blame it on the league cause it is, but now this another setback before the season even starts, it's like the board is rangers enemy they just don't gel with the clubs real needs, 2 of the top boys packed up and jumped ship this year, maybe there is a leak and they knew, so is rangers again slowly sinking? Only way to find out is for the fans to demand transparency, everything on the table, no more fkn about, it's your club not theirs, look at what we tims do if the ship isn't sailing, we are up and ready to defend our club, anger comes naturally if we are getting fkd about, but only way to.keep the board in check, sacrifice your time and loyalty to save your club from possibly another fatal end

Yep he has, the poorest out of the last 3 managers was the one that was backed financially by the club and look how that turned out... this time 2 years ago Gio was going into a new season with the funds of having made it to the Europa League final (£18M), selling Bassey (£20M), selling Aribo (up to £10M), selling Patterson in January (up to £11M) and he still wasn't backed.... Beale was backed last summer cos of the good work Gio had done by qualifying for the CL group stages
All that money went to paying back the soft loans the previous board members gave Rangers. The ones that are now long gone. That's all they wanted - their money back, now they're offski.

Never seen an injury list like it in any team in my puff and that's no the only thing he's had to deal with. Onwards and upwards.

Our squad is massive. It’s clear we need to sell before we buy. It doesn’t mean there is no money available. No point in adding to an already bloated squad. We’ve done that for years. Sell, then bring in the quality needed

Given the Stadium issues and the failure to off load high earners in order to bring in the players Clement wants, I think we've got a serious problem. It's only a matter of time before another club with better funds poaches him from us. And who's going to want to walk into the same situation? We could end up with Derek McInnis.
When he loses the first old firm , and he will , the fans will want him gone big time. All our best times were with a strong Scottish manager , its a stick on McInnes will be the next manager.

So he's using the previous guys and another guy who was a low level scout not a manager at another club of a similar size, build a team for him. Why not just build your own team Clement? The ridiculous contracts and wages have been killing us for years and Clements is doing exactly the same thing with the last 2 unknown signings getting 4 and 5 year deals. We shouldnt be handing out any more than 2 year deals with extensions possible if they do well and if said players dont want to sign a 2 year deal move on to others. None of this is rocket science , I wouldnt let any of our boardroom run a market stall.

Always a great video. I 100% agree with your thoughts re: current squad and the board underperforming for the past several years. If we don't have the money for a GREAT striker, a creative and field-controlling center mid, then let's stop buying ANY PLAYERS. Focus on what is needed or get leadership in that can.

Agree with everything CJ said, except the myth that he (unlike the others) was backed by the board. He wasn’t either. Spent £15m but had to pay for it through sales of 13-14mil. Considering that too was a rebuild a net spend of about £1m is not backing a manager! I’m not defending Beale. Merely pointing out the lack of board backing for any manager

I have had this argument with any - Gerrard at the time he left, had no reason to be sour over investment in the squad.
1)The fact is, he needed to sell players (which he didnt want to do) or qualify for Champions League vs Malmo (which we didn't).
2)The squad that he was unhappy with investment was 7 points clear when he left (which shows it was a strong squad that you can't say was "missing"
3)The squad he left went on to go to a Europa Final. The fact is, for that season, considering he wanted to keep the core together, WAS GOOD ENOUGH
In some ways getting to the UEL Final covered up the failings yes we changed Managers, yes Celtic got things right faster than we planned. And since then we’ve been going down.
We are going to end up losing big phil with false promises again.

I'm happy with the transfer strategy as i can now seen a profile for the player trading model that was spoke about. However we have failed the last few years to offload players that are a surplus to requirement. I also think that tav and goldson go this window and think its deserved, both have been fantastic for the club but i think the departure is overdue and the lack of ability by the club to let players go at the correct time has impacted the improvement of the playing squad and put us in this position.
Our board seem to think it is ok to stand still. They are not rangers supporters they are just business men. They have no passion.

Regarding the stadium. There are problems with transporting steel via the black sea and delays to things internationally because of the Ukraine war. We don't live in a bubble. I am sure the club is doing all it can. Are we really going to chastise the club or any club for trying to improve seating for the disabled? The war is no ones fault, but it could have been planned better, but it is what it is. It is time the drama stopped about it. The Dundee situation doesn't compare either. They could easily get pitch covers. They were fined by the SFA for not following procedure correctly. We have followed procedure at the earliest possible point where an issue outwith our controls came up. Issues happen, we were professional, Dundee were not. That is why they were fined and we weren't. But don't let facts stop any haters out there.
Side note as well Dundee were very comfortable during a title race by us to seek Celtics help for pitch coverings. There are and were, suppliers in the UK who they could buy them from easily. They went to Celtic. That is a comfortable relationship there during postponement of games during our run-in. Odd.
Not as bad as feared in terms of Ibrox being unplayable for league games, we only have 4 home league games scheduled until the end of October and potentially none in the League Cup depending on the draws, its the impact on CL qualification and then CL/EL group stages

Well said... Phil should be signed to at least a 5 year deal, with bonuses for delivering on things like player development/transfer. It's taken us quite a while to dig this hole, I truly believe he's capable to getting us out of it asap (as the saying goes... Ibrox wasn't rebuilt in a day). So far he's doing what he said he would do... bringing in young prospects, who can play multiple positions, with good potential resale value. Let's give the man a decent amount of time to get us beyond the mess he inherited.
We sign players on big contracts and then find it difficult to move them on when they flop.

People aren’t buying players because of their massive contracts that Ross Wilson and Beale handed out. We are stuck in this problem for awhile until these contracts run down and we get rid of them, so we have to stick with Clement this season no matter how tough it gets :(
Clement has just handed 2 new unknown players with 4 and 5 year contracts. The club is run by clowns and has been for years.
@@oaktree5975 the difference is the wages they’ll be paid. These new players will be on a quarter of the likes of lammers, dowell, dessers, so clubs will buy them for big fees and be able to upgrade salaries as opposed to players turning moves down because no club can compete with what we pay right now.
The longer a young players contract is the more value they have. Especially young players. The problem is the highly paid older players that have no value and wont move for inferior wages. No-one will pay a fee or wages for an old player. Goldson's contract for instance - jesus wept.

Thats a lot of the problems we have at the club and Clement has given 2 of signings 5 year deals and they look no better than the other terrible signings we have.

Ibrox situation has happened. Unfortunately it happens in construction projects.
Harden up and deal with it. No longer wasting energy arguing and fighting with SFA and SPFL cooperation is the key.

Hampden not ideal but it is what it is.

When he came in last season the consensus was it was a wasted season and he would be judged the season after that. Look at the serial losers we have in the first team. This is where I have the view that we're too much of a shitshow to even think about compete with the celtic right now because although they only have to be mediocre to be better. We instead have to think about building a team profitable for the future. This should've been done years ago but this is where our mismanagement from the board has left us. September 17-19 for the group stages of the FIRST CL group game. Ibrox will be ready by then EVEN if it means 3 sides as the steel will be used and the crane move long before then.

I know this will be controversial for some, but I don't think that the board can be blamed for letting down Clement. If anyone can, though, it's Michael Beale and the transfer policy dropped last summer. The board funded a rebuild last year ... they can't be expected to fund another one this year. Is it any surprise that players that are being blasted by fans for not being good enough are not "saleable"? Why would anyone pay £5m for Dessers ... a player that needs 10 or more chances to score 1 goal? A player that frustrates the fanbase with his misses? Equally, why would anyone pay big money for players who have an injury history? Rangers did it ... the "player rehabilitation" strategy that Beale adopted ... but it failed. None of our players are attracting genuine interest, meaning that we are already well behind the 8-ball with the NEW transfer strategy. What I would like answers to is "why have we failed to sign Cordoba, Garcia?" ... these are the players that we need to make sure we get signed, yet both have fallen through (not to mention the lad from Munich, Rrahmani etc). We're a small club ... not in terms of fanbase, but in terms of the money we can offer players because of the lack of income (or the large number of older, injured, players getting paid a LOT of wages). We lost our identify, and our structure, when the HMRC debacle hit ... we cannot expect any board to pump in almost a decade of Champions League money like Celtic have had free of charge. TBH, the fanbase needs to lower their expectations for a few years to give the manager time to rebuild properly. I believe we have the manager, DoF, to achieve long term success ... but we might have to make do for a few seasons.
What have we been doing over the last 12 seasons apart from Covid one . Should not have to wait if we didn’t have a bunch of bottlers last season. Need buyer for club with deep pockets.
The board has not made good business for years, but I would say, they better start quickly. We can't bring anymore players in until we sell players nothing seems to be very clear and the start of serious football is getting closer. Are we serious on wanting to win anything this season.

The manager will need another 2 full seasons to get a team capable of winning the league. Given the financial restrictions he is under he can't produce miracles and the fans need to back him not calls to sack him . The ones needing sacked are the board and get investors in who actually want to take the club forward . We need fresh money and people who actually know what they are doing a successful team will bring in money long term but there needs to be investment before that can happen so unless we get funny money for people then its going to take time and patience
The manager is playing board chess with regards to the transfer market. Just as the pressure gets to fever pitch the manager applies a little more.

Dreading the forthcoming season already. The underwhelming signings, the state of ibrox, bullshit board lying to Clement about the availability of funds. They aint making it easy for us supporters.
We simply Require a Brand New Board, one that knows how to run the WHOLE LOT when it comes to football. We've already had SG and MB as trainee managers and right now WE, Rangers FC have a Trainee Football Board, HOW DID IT COME TO THIS ??? (as thon King of Rohan once said) Even Mr Clement is at times sounding like another beal, £30M for Butland when he's not worth a penny over the £5M.

I don't know if Clement is fully let down by the board. If he was lied to over his budget for this summer, then clearly thats unfair.
However the reality is he came in and the cost of Cortes and Diomande accounts for around £8.5 million, Barron will likely be a fee as well, he has a £6 million player in Danilo returning. He also spent £1.75 million on Igamane and has Hagi to weigh up as an option as well. I would play him over Cantwell as out 10. Thats over £10 million spent by Clement between January and now. Then if he sells anyone thats more to spend. He has the tools and if he has the know how he can get more out of some players as well. Also maybe can do some shrewd deals as well here or there.
I also don't know about his judgement in keeping with Silva, Goldson and Tavernier even when out of form.
The other reality is he didn't lay a glove on Celtic and hasn't proven anything yet. He needs to get it right and get us winning games against them. If not he won't be here long.
Personally my view is I had never heard of him, just like Pedro and Le Guen. I would rather have had Mcinness and Thommo learning from him to take over one day and more Scottish boys in and around the team. I think Mcinness would have used the money available more wislely. Still its up to Clement to win us over and get the team winning so, I will back him and see how he goes against Celtic. Lets see if there is any progress to how we play after preseason and see if certain guy's like Danilo can step up and make a difference. All we can do is hope but I am feeling grumpy AF about the board and stadium and the constant FN drama in the press.
Putting all that aside though, I have given it real thought and will put aside all that, and give Phil a chance this season to win my grumpy arse over. Times are tough. Lets stick together and see how it goes.
They knew the stadium needed the upgrades months before the materials were to be ordered so why didn’t they get the materials ordered and put into storage ready for when the season finished that way all materials are there ready to go
It is the contractors doing the job at fault why would they start without materials in place.
