- I had to take Amber to the emergency room the moment we got to Cappadocia, Turkey. We planned our first overnight bus ride from Sanliurfa to Nevshir. Amber was not feeling well in the days leading up to our travels but over night, things went downhill fast.

I’m glad you got help and it must have been an ordeal to seek assistance in a foreign country. It’s important for people to understand the reality that that travel can have it’s ups and downs. For safe holidays in Turkey choose 4* or 5* star all inclusive renowned chain hotel like Magic Life; do not touch and do not eat anything outside the hotel resort…..We have been there for several times and never had health problems….
This is a type of illness that Amber has had before and is not really the fault of how we chose to travel in Turkey. People get sick sometimes. We are very thankful the health system in Turkey was able to help us so quickly and at an affordable cost.

We were in Turkey from March to the first week of June. When we arrived in Istanbul it was snowing and freezing and when we left Kayseri it was 90 degrees F! Thank you so much for following along! 😃
How did you plan your locations? Where to stay? Things to do? A world out there and Im clueless
In short, lots of research that is mostly driven by price and our desire to see as many countries as we can. There are a lot of different reasons we choose a destination. We flew to Jordan because the flights where $5, flew to Montenegro because we wanted to spend the winter holidays in Albania but it was cheaper to fly into Podgorica and take a bus to Tirana. Took trains through Romania for a month because of COVID restrictions in other countries. Flew to Croatia to get a COVID booster shot because they were the only country administering shots to foreigners. Decided not to go to Ukraine last November because it was too cold and have regretted it ever since. We stayed in Turkey for 3 months because it was so affordable, lots to see and we paid for a 90 day visa so we wanted to make the most of it.
Our loosely planned itinerary extends about 3 months where we have an idea of where we want to go. What we actually have booked is usually about 3-6 weeks ahead. We stay very open minded in our plans and kind of go with the flow. You might meet a friend in a Slovakia train station who is from Amsterdam and invites you to stay with them in a few months or meet a German family while staying on a sheep farm in Lithuania who tells you about this awesome festival in the German country side in a few months and invites you to go with them. ahah the world gets even bigger once you dive in.
