Not sure if this correlates to your observation, but it's another way in which they compliment/oppose each other. Maybe the difference between looking up and down is where Brad chooses to contextualize his journey and purpose, looking down towards the foundation of the cliffside, back into his heritage and where he's come from, or looking upward towards the endless expanse of the sky, where he could choose to go from here

"THAT WAS THE LAST DAY WE EVER SPOKE." Dude the tonal whiplash is nauseating in the best and worst way possible, I'm heartbroken. It's been such a long time since I last wanted to see a game's alternate universe where things didn't fall to shit so hard.
You can actually beat this battle without losing party members. You just gotta dmamage marty and when youve taken down half of the little meatballs and the rest are crystalized it's your cue to run so no one is lost
There is actually an easier way, nern have a skill called dirty insult, with this skill you inflict rage, which has an 100% chance to be applied to marty, Marty cant do the insta kill on your party members if he is in rage, so make sure marty is always enraged, the only problem is that party members will be ko'ed on one hit quite often since rage also increases crit rate (also makes him hit himself, thats pretty good). Just stock on some perfumes and in case Nern is KO and rage status effect is not on Marty run for your life
@@theseekersoflight2271 I used Nern to piss Marty off and Carp's wrist slash attack to make it so that, even if Marty hits you, he does basically no damage. I also used Shocklord for mass damage but anyone can be used a third party member. You just need to stock up on SP items so you don't run out.
at first... 7:01 I thought that was supposed to be some representation of Marty, but it's a far more, well, nightmarish version of Joy Mutant Brad. It's got the heart Buddy drew on him, and all the make-up... Damn, poor fucked up kid.
I sacrificed both of Brad's arms and half of my squad to the roulette for Buckets before I found out about this. Think I have to start a brand new file just to beat Marty lol.
even if you have both arms, his defense is really high so unless youre spamming risky drawing with garth all of brads combo dial inputs will deal 0 damage
You can make sure that any party member die, i defeated him after playing the roulette too, only thing you have to do is enrage him with nern skill called dirty insult, then he cant insta kill Party members, if rage status ends, do it again. Also make sure to have some characters that hit everyone, and use perfumes as needed. Buckets works great to get his hp down

After 2 hours of trying to beat Marty without losing any partner (still lost 4 of them lol) I finally did it, so I started to go down the rope, the cutscene pop up and later climb up again, anything normal until here. But when I arrived to the crimson sea again, I didn't talked to Marty's head because I wanted to explore the left side of the map. Then a door appeared in front of me and dissapeared immediately, so I came back to talk to Marty's head, AND THE FUCKING BOSS IS THERE AGAIN, AND ALL THE PARTNERS I'VE LOST REMAIN DEAD, ALSO THE GAME DOESNT LET ME ENTER TO THE PAUSE MENU TO USE AND EQUIP ITEMS. MAN I'M SO DONE, IS THIS A BUG? OR IT IS INTENDED TO BE THIS WAY? Man I wasted 2 fucking hours and still couldn't get out of the nightmare :(
Nern Terry and Birdie cleared this battle alot easier, U just spam home run headslide for the first half, when he switches to his second form go for fireball 4, keep marty pissed with nern so he doesnt do perma kills, have birdie spit oil and keep the group drunk, and have terry hype up the group and hottest dance till u dwindle martys health down, I did the battle in about almost under a hour and didnt lose anyone, just need a hell of a lot of perfumes, its similar to the satan strat

4:37 in my run i had a monstrous version of Mad Dog instead of what appears to be Terry. Is it possible that it's because Mad Dog is the partner I used the most during the run and also because he spoke to me during the rest? He also quit the team before fighting Marty
All notes I have for this fight: Start (100,000 HP): All is normal (Fight the Blood Shadows, the 6 Spiders and then Marty) After 90,000 HP: Blood Shadows start using Blood Bond After 75,000-ish HP: Blood Shadows start using Damage Reflect and Tricky Rick shows up After 45,000 (The Second Phase): Marty skips the introduction for the Blood Shadows phase, Blood Shadows instantly KO you when defeated, Tricky Rick has a chance to attack twice, and Marty starts draining your stats. 40,000-35,000 HP: Marty will continuously chant his "Grow the garden of pain" spiel before you fight him if you exhausted all of his dialogue before. Scared can be applied to Blood Shadows. Tricky Rick can get the pissed effect and will deal 0 damage to you. Weird and Oiled Up can be applied to Marty. If you take out all of the Sacs while fighting Marty, then you will skip the Spider phase next time you start an assault. You can survive the Blood Shadow's instant KO move if you have someone guard beforehand. Instead of taking all of your HP, it will only do half of the damage. I discovered this accidentally. Maddog can leave your party during the nightmare sequence before fighting with Marty. This most likely happens if you unlocked his campfire cutscene beforehand. I never saw the Terry or Maddog creature before because I never went to the left of Brad's house. I have beaten Marty 3 times. Never seeing them was the most painful thing out of all of this. Yes. Following the nightmare, all of the party members you lost are permanently dead. Around the campfire in the real world are splatters of blood, implying (to me, at least) that Brad killed the party members he lost during the nightmare.

When you rest at a campfire, you run a small risk of your party members abandoning you while you sleep, among other risks. If you sacrifice your companions during the ultimatum scenes with Buzzo, your companions' chance to abandon you at a campfire spike up, as they lose confidence in you because of your choices. When you beat Marty and rest at a campfire, your companions abandon you the most frequently, like almost guaranteed each time you rest at campfire. Brad definitely turned on his own in a Joy-induced rage episode. It's sad and horrifying to think what Brad did to those boys, that they would only run away when he sleeps. Some of them really looked up to him. . . It also hurts when you're fighting the blood shadows; sometimes they cry as an action, and even skip their turn as they "don't want to do this".
@@Heb_N My theory is that brad (as you said) had a rage episode, maybe on joy, where he started attacking all of his companions. I think that's why the fight with them happens. Maybe he's allucinating abt all of em being Marty or something and that's the reason we can see Marty "consuming" every character and why every one of em appear as a spider (remember spiders with a Marty face are a common representation of trauma in LISA). Also, the "you brought friends now" and some other lines are really another thing. Damn, the creator of this game went hard on this
