Hi 👋, thanks for watching. There is a lot of history in this area. It fascinates me. I love connecting all these castles and events together. Hope you're well. Take care 🧸🐻
I fell in love with Scotland and it's stories as a teenager watching the programme: "The Borderers". I think every teenager was in love with one or all the males in it. So exciting, the fights, the horses, the countryside. Now, looking at these videos I can hear the noise, the horses' hooves and the war cries. Thank you Ellie and Martin for bringing these videos online to learn more and add to the already held passion for Scotland. 👌🇳🇱 🙋♀🥝
@@IamaDutch-Kiwi Aw, Anita! I'm so glad this brought back some good memories to you. These castles do invoke images of swashbuckling swordsmen on horseback rescuing distressed damsels, and kings and queens on their progresses don't they 🐎👑 He he he 🤗 I'm glad you liked it. Balvenie is only around 9 miles away from us, such history on our doorstep! Take care, 🧸🐻
Hi both 👋, this castle seemed to definitely play a big part in Scotlands history and it was good to hear about it and look around with you. It was in a lovely location and looked in quite good condition . Enjoyed this tour guys as we have never been to a Scottish castle 🙂👍❤️~ Anna
Very much enjoyed this Ellie and Martyn, your commentary and narration was absolutely fantastic. I enjoyed hearing about the Comyn family and the history surrounding its origins. I absolutely adore the Scottish stonework and masonry, it's quite iconic in itself. Loving the look of Balvenie, it's always been on our list, just need to get back up that way at some point! The three biggest families that all made their mark throughout the castle is such a feature in itself. I really enjoyed this, thank you both for the wonderful filming, narration, editing and music. Very cinematic!!
@@PinnedonPlaces Aw, thanks Alessa. Such lovely comments. Thank you so much 🤗 Yes, we've been waiting for Balvenie to reopen after the repairs from storm damage closed it and Auchindoun. It's literally like 9 miles away from us! It opened up again in April so we went the first opportunity we got. I agree, Scottish castles have their own incredibly interesting architecture, don't they. Very different to other castles, yet strangely familiar too. This has always seemed such an insignificant small castle, but it was such an important "outpost" and to have had possibly the three biggest Scottish dynasties living there (Comyns, Black Douglases and Stewarts) is just incredible. And all on our doorstep too! I'm so glad you enjoyed this and I hope you get to see it yourself one day soon. Thanks so much for watching. Take care, 🧸 🐻
@@eyeintheskydrone4k Hello and thank you for watching. It's a small castle with so much history and well worth a visit if you're in the area. Welcome to our channel 🧸🐻
It sounded like an episode of Game of Thrones with all of the changing dynasties, murders and poisoning. Interesting place despite not seeing an actual battle on its lands.
@@OutandaboutwithAndy I really will have to look at whatever this throne games is as we've never seen it and have no idea what it is 🤔 It is a small castle but it does have an interesting history. Thanks for watching Andy. Hope you have a great weekend 🧸🐻
Hi Ellie and Martyn Hope you are both well. A very interesting and informative video, we throughly enjoyed it ❤ We will be honest we hadn't heard of Balvenie Castle but will definitely be adding it to our must visit list next time we are in that area.
