The Alibow Tibetan Qinghai is giving me confidence in thumb draw and enjoying its long draw. Appreciate much on your untiring reviews. Maraming Salamat Armin.
I would like to mention that the church bells add a lot of tension to the comparison. "Of the Alibow Qinghai"" *DONG!* "of the AF Qinghai or Manchu." DONG!
Perfect Comparision.. that's what I wanted to see.. as I also experienced same with AF Qing...But I was not having Alibow Qinghai.. very well Explained Armin..👏👏👏👏👍
Im really loving my Alibow Qinghai bow , a great bow and a a good company to deal with - Im having great fun on my ventures into thumb draw archery : )
Great review as usual. It sounds like if you want a Manchu bow like the Yarha but your arms aren't long enough to draw 35" because you aren't an orangutan, you get a Qinghai. I'm guessing the Alibow Qinghai gets higher arrow speeds because its siyahs and string bridges are lighter, since both bows have roughly the same powerstroke (which is just an inch less than the Yarha's powerstroke). Perhaps the AF Qinghai would perform a little better with a lower brace height. I'll definitely have to add one of these to my stable.
Dear Mr. Armin, I am struck by the professionalism with which he illustrates the various types of bows. It could, sooner or later make a video about the correct way to string the various kind of bows? You explain to me that there are several ways to do this but some bows require special caution. Still congratulations for another great video.
it's nice to see that af starting with very cheap not the best bows is really becoming a nice bow maker. it would be great if they could get along with european archery shops to buy their bow easier.
I have found buying dirrect from Alibow very easy - the ower is a getleman who is very helpful and is an experienced asisiatic archer himself so he knows his stuff - more like buying from an enthiusiast than a shop !
I have one question and one advice. Question is do we need the thumb ring to do this draw style all the time? Advice is you should put a Polarizer on your camera to cut down harsh highlights
As you see shooting, I almost never use a thumb ring. But sure in the long run it's better. I have a Nd filter on my osmo action, another filer does not fit at the same time
@@ArminHirmer thank you for your response. I think maybe polar pro makes a dual purpose ND and Polarizer. I have one for a larger camera, not sure about for GoPro and osmo. Another solution could be using the large square ones and putting it in a bracket. Thanks for letting me know about the thumb ring is there any major pros to it?
@@jp2503 I am fine with what comes out of it. Brackets and stuff adds too much work around. I think in most cases, the video quality is fine for what I do. Once I do cinematic, I will reconsider :D Thumbrings will give you a cleaner release and they don't tear your skin as much as when you shoot bare thumb like I do :) once you are used to a ring, it will work fine
thanks for your reviews ! I never shot anything else than compound and was thinking about trying this alibow. My bow is a 60 pounder / 31 DL. Do you think I could use my 350 grains arrows with a 35 pounds (@28) one ?
So i am looking into getting into Asiatic archery. I have a 70 pound compound, easy to draw, 50 lbs traditional recurve, and a static recurve that i made at 30 lbs. I have mad 3 other longbows all around 35lbs and have a 70 lbs warbow i am currently making. I practice thumb release with my 30 lbs and the stress on my thumb is no issue, my Mediterranean draw is 29in, and it seems my thumb draw is around 30 or 31in. I am 6'2" 215 and in good shape. I was thinking on getting a Qinghai Tibetan bow at 50lbs as i already have a 30 pound bow to practice thumb release. I've been doing compound archery since i was 12 years old, and traditional since i was 21. I am 34 years old. I would like to believe that a 50lbs thumb draw would be fine for me. Any thoughts would be appreciated?
@@ArminHirmer thank you sir I appreciate it, love the videos I've learned a lot about archery in the last few weeks watching your videos than I had in the last 22 years of my traditional archery journey.
Two questions for anyone here who has some experience being a thumb draw instinctive shooter. One, how far is the accurate range of instinctive thumb draw (so how far could you hit one of the big circular imperial archery targets without misses)? Two, no one else in my club really shoots instinctive thumb draw. I've seen the videos of people who tought themselves on this channel and they seemed good, but how do you find your flaws and improve without the help those who have faced the same problems? Any advice would be appreciated
same as with three finger, a matter of practice. I showed already a few they only learned from YT and got very far. Small details of course needed to be fixed
@@ArminHirmer Ok great, I love the videos particularly the really concise troubleshooting ones they've helped me so far and I think your content will continue to improve my shooting in the future. Many thanks
I recommend joining the facebook group "ATARN traditional asian archery" great group and u can post a video of you shooting and ask for a form check. Very informitive group i highly recommend.
Hi Armin which poundage manchu bow would recommend for my first one. I've started with the snake bow and moved to an alibow fibreglass tar tar 30 pounds. I want to try a manchu but not sure about what poundage. Thanks for all your help so far.
The eagle claw on bow hand , when I look at my finish position and my string hand , the L position and closed 3 fingers is very similar to same hand shape as bow hand , is this by design for symmetry, seemscnothing is simple coincidence, or am I seeing something that is not really there
Still the best analysis of Asiatic bows I’ve found on YT. I’ve learnt so much. Thanks again Armin.
Armin you know what we want, and you always give us (viewers) more than we usually expect.
Thanx for another great video.

Great review, as ever Armin. All these long draw bows!! Love the look and sound of the Yarha.

AF Archery has a new scythian style bow called the "Ling Que". Any chance of getting a review on it?
When they send me one I will do :)
Both Qinghai bows are great, but the Yarha is awesome. ;-)

You should try to draw a 59# just with the thumb a few times. I think it is a bit to much for your thumb, even if you have the muscles for it

Also do you twist the strings to get the correct brace height, or is the supplied strings supplied to get the correct brace height?
the strings should usually fit. if not with some bows you can twist, other bows don't like that
Hey, can you test this halfpipe extension with small arrows from the movie War of arrows?
I did

I see it like this :)
The AF Qing bow (175.00 USD) on eBay looks very different from the one in your review! Are you using an older model?
Nope
The weight of the arrows will effect hand shock and bow vibration?
The heavier arrows absorb more energy from the bow, reducing the vibration of the bow.
спасибо . мне слышались колокола, видео как всегда подробное. приятно смотреть.
