Thanks Lou and Terry. I came to this video from your suggestion during your video on the "1969 Mach 1 Indian Fire Red" another beautiful car that Terry owns. This car is a good example of how much more car you got by moving up to an Oldsmobile. For years, if you bought a brand-new Oldsmobile, you really brought home a significant and special car.
Another pearl from the Fifthies: just wonderful also with the the two colors. The owner is perfectly right: these cars are so evocatory! For aged people they remember an optimistic epoch, with no unemployment and continuate economy growth. They express la "joie de vivre" with elegance, chrome and bright colors: the direct opposite to our dark period, witht almost no appealing cars looking all the same: nearly only dark and clumsy SUVs, evoking hostile behaviour against all. But also for youngsters nowadays, they are truly attractive because looking so different, elegant and joyful too.

This car will Rocket to ya! Love that Island Coral and Charcoal two-tone combo! You won't see that too often today, when black, white, gray and silver make up most of the cars you see today. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 98!
Love this car! Thx so much for sharing! My dad had a 56 Olds 88 two door which had many features yours has. It did not have a park gear though. He'd park it in neutral and if the brake wasn't set it would roll LoL. That silver disc in the truck is a light. We had a 55' Rocket 88 Olds when I was a kid. I spent many hours in the back seat playing with a pinwheel out the window. We didn''t use seatbelts back then. Baby seats were not even heard of.

I especially love the side and rear view... super! Great dedication to detail. Love love the car and love the story... fun, happy, and just enjoyable! Thank you

Hey Lou, I've got a story for you. I'm 67, but I can still remember riding in the car seat of my dad's '57 Olds Super 88 2 door sedan(post, not a hardtop) and seeing the oval designs for the clock and speedometer at night. They lit up and you could see their dials with the headlights on! Cool old memory from my childhood that lives with me to this day. The car was the Oldsmobile turquoise, don't remember it's name. It also had the spinner hubcaps, which I think were reserved for the "upscale" cars, i.e. the Super 88, Ninety Eight and the Starfire 98 Holiday Coupe and convertible. Correct me if I'm wrong about that. Great post as always. Your friend in cars, Dale Andrews Lake Charles, LA
We were a Hudson family and after they ceased in 54 (no, the 55 up cars weren't real Hudsons-ugh!) In 1956 we got a Olds 98 convert Black and Gold. Yes, it had the hot cam, the J2 triple carbs and the dealer installed either balanger or early hedman headers. Fast? Forget it! We used to put the top down and cruze through Brooklyn NYC's Pprospect park. Next year we got a 57 98 but it wasn't a convertible and two of the forward look Chrysler Corp cars. for other members of the family. We had like nine 98's over the years since ending in 1983. But the 50's up to just prior to the terrible downsizing '76 were always extra special. Wonderful, golden memories....

Yes, the little circular silver piece mounted to the trunk lid is a trunk light. My 1969 Olds had the same thing. It has a position switch inside that switches on when the lid is raised and off when it closes. I seem to recall it used a type 631 lamp. Same as the underhood lamp.
