I love how in their early reveals they said how higher difficulty wouldnt just be more health and more damage, but adding abilities. Crazy how it turned out to just be more health and more damage.
That's the secret to overwatch pve it's always more health and damage, at least they buff the players too instead of having hard damage caps like overwatch 1 had

For the pvp it's dumb they did that but they gave her more ammo and damage and her bomb actually does something in pve so it's something

“I like that It’s hard but I don’t like the *way* that it’s hard.” It’s sad that it turned out this way honestly. There’s fun difficulty where enemies have interesting abilities or certain behaviors. But then there’s un-fun, tedious difficulty when enemies get unfair abilities or have their health jacked up to the max. Seems like they leaned towards the latter rather than the former.
I feel like the golden standard for hard difficulty should be like Souls games.
The hardest is finding someone still playing it. I have bought it 4 days ago and I hardly get 4 people to play it, it always matches me with bots. Wining is just a plus 😂😂
@@toazel8679 There already is a gold standard for harder difficulty and it's called Doom Eternal. All Doom Eternal did for higher difficulty is adjust enemy aggression, the frequency of power moves, their accuracy, and their damage. That's it; they're the same health across all difficulties.
So my theory behind why this was so difficult was that the dev team originally intended the players to have stronger attributes and abilities due to the Talents system and Skill Tree. But once that was nixed, they reverted the heroes back to just their base kit (no additional items or new special abilities) and tuned them to be just stronger versions of themselves.
Certain enemies were designed with the PvE to have the talent tree in mind is what I'm thinking. They didn't really correct that, so it genuinely feels harder since you're basically just a level 1 hero fighting in a level 50-60 dungeon, and the only way to win is with specific heroes and just ticking away at their health.
The PvE doesn't seem to be forgiving in using different team rollouts, which sucks. I bet with the Talents in mind, you could've seen so many teams with cool dynamics in how they approach these missions. You'll NEVER get that now.
@@seal7513The heroes do have PvE-specific changes. Lucio’s speed gives attack speed, for one. Brig’s rally is her pre-buff version for another (no stun, no big shield). Mei’s combo does a shittonne of damage for yet another with her left click also having increased damage…
Nah the skill tree was only going to end up being used in hero missions. Overall difficulty is much the same as what the old archives missions were really, maybe a bit harder because of all the extra mechanics.
I think the main thing with the viability of different heroes is just that there are a lot that make sense to be involved due to lore reasons but gameplay wise they just aren't really suited to it. They'd have to make some pretty substantial balance changes for certain heroes to work at higher difficulties although I'd expect future missions (ie. vs talon) will change things up a bit.
Nah. Don't confuse "story missions" with "hero missions". They were different things and talent trees were meant to appear specifically in hero missions. At least this is what was said in 2019 during OW2 announcement
I really think all heroes should be available to play after you complete the mission for the first time. It would add so much more variety. Plus, the Archives events should be added in as well. These missions are practically Archives events anyway so why not?
They'll probably re-use archives missions for those seasonal pve events that they have.
It would be stupid to be running around with Ramatra or Junker Queen on these missions and it would make it easier for everyone else.

I’d argue these are slightly worse than archives. I played them for the sojourn skin but I couldn’t wait to be done…
Seeing them all grouped up just really makes me want to see a raid type game mode with a player for each character on the roster

It sounds like you'd like Deep Rock Galactic tbh. Tons of moderate health enemies, with some big tanky boys mixed in, fliers, emplaced bugs, etc. It's got everything you'd want in a movement shooter and I'd love to see this group of 4 taking on Hoxxes!

You know what would be awesome? A complex raid mission, kind of Destiny 2 style, where the mechanics are more complex and hard to figure out. And then tie a whole bunch of exclusive cosmetics to it for incentive to play. I think that would be amazing

In the roles we filled It took me (diamond), a masters player, a plat, and a silver 9 hours to complete legendary difficulty. Their version of replayability is simply making it impossible......
I mean it is the hardest difficultly for a reason
I have to play with randoms and now 9 times we gave made it to the protect Claire and Reggie step only to be overwhelmed. Personally I think it's somewhere in my 50th tries now
i think they mean replayabilokity cause off challenges too XD but legendary is like .... its basically 1200 health for each enemy XD
That isnt that much compare to other levels in other games in the hardest dificulty

Tip. If the slicers glitch in to the ship, use your sojourn AoE to kill them!
More enemies, less giant health pools. Exactly how I want every game to be when it comes to difficulty.
yeah if echo is available you've gotta take her for these, between focusing beam and her relatively fast ult charges she's becomes a must just for legendary alone
I really like the last sequence of this mission. The non-stop feel of it and the music is really great.
I find it so interesting that despite having a final boss the Rio mission is the easiest on legendary. I feel like the massive horde they throw at you in the final mission was meant to be carried by Bastion but they reworked him and didn’t go back to change much

i did first 2 on expert and after 3 failures on the last part of Gothemburg I was like nah bruh hard it is. I got no clue how they do it in legendary but that is the skill gap i guess lol

The opening cinematic gave me strong Subspace Emissary vibes. I half expected the screen to freeze and the player 1 selection to appear.
They could’ve given the bots varying speeds, an enraged mode, unique variants of the same enemy type, greater hordes, or anything really to up the difficulty. No, it’s just give bot big hp.
Glad all the years it took to hype up PvE resulted in something so creative. Great work blizz, it’s certainly one of the PvE games of all time.
16:30 yeah, there is. Jay3 for example beat all 4 missions in one stream that went on for 13 hours and also included the Patch notes stuff
this makes me want a game mode where each team is big enough to fit one of each hero on the roster so the entire cast can duke it out against themselves on one huge map

You don't really need any communication. I did it with 3 gold/plat randoms with 0 communication, just need to pick good heroes and not make too many mistakes.

A friend and I have been trying this for ages. It feels impossible but, we both really want the title for completing all three on legendary. Doesn't help the randoms we get pick kind of bad heroes for the mission.
Randoms also can be idiots. I try to tell them to move around because only splicers damage the ship but nope! They stay in front and die
i was able to do Rio and Toronto on legendary... .the last one.... not so much XD

I wonder if the higher difficulty now is the same as when there were still plans for skill trees.
In 2019 Kaplan announced 2 pve modes for overwatch 2: "Hero missions"(were scrapped) and "Story missions"(were released). Skill trees were supposed to only appear in hero missions
A LOT of people are confused about this topic and think those were the same, but in actuality they were distinguished from the start
I solo qued this on legendary probably like 75 times and got past the first area twice. Wiped once at the area just before Claire, and again in the first area where the squid things attack Claire. Every other time we just wiped because slicers kept getting in the door and we couldn't kill them.
Ran it on the second hardest difficulty and it's literally free in comparison.

I love thinking about stuff from an in-universe perspective. Imagine a world where robots are terrorizing cities and generally causing lots of destruction. An old group of heroes show up in order to take them out, then after stopping the threat, they decide the most important thing they can do is fight each other over pushing 2 walls around a city to accomplish nothing.

Isn't this also the mission that is/was bugged? So the Bots could Clip into the ship and slowly damage it and there was nothing you could do about it.
Does anyone if melee counts as boop? It did in the Archives missions with the assassins, but they removed the melee's ability to get environmentals in OW2 (but not its actual knockback). If it was able to, that would kinda remove the need for Lucio/Dva, you could probably do Bap for more sustain plus lamp and window, and maybe a different tank, since you can just tap the subjugators to cancel them.
I like how they made thoes 2 massive areas in Havana and Rialto and didn't even use them.
Sure theres still the other waves of pve missions but you'd really expect them to use the ones they already had done for months
I struggled with it until I sat down and realized that speed lucio only healing on amp, sojourn that only shoots legs, echo who flexes, and Winston for damage/boops obliterate. Took me and the gang one try
Did a splicer get stuck in the door for them too?
It's happened to me almost every time I've played the mission. It's frustrating

Flats empties a clip into robot: “poor guy”
For my group the winning comp was Rein, Echo, (Soj), Brig. Rein can shatter charge the beginning Artillery and later on charge an Elite Nulltrooper off map too; additionally, the swing AOE is also really nice. Echo just doing so much damage and duping in situations needed is too hard to pass up, especially with her dupe ult gen buff. Brig just plays lots of chess with Null Sector special units, like Subs and Stalks since any of her offensive abilities stagger them. This comp made the Subjugator sections pretty trivial in my experience, would recommend communication definitely.

Also I’m not sure why other supports aren’t as viable in this mission. I also resorted to Lucio, his boops were the only reason we were able to continue.

That first part in Toronto was way more difficult than it needed to be. Those slicers were annoying on expert. Not trying on legendary. 😩

I hate how the slicers phase into the cargo ship doors and you have to punch them to death because you cant shoot through the door itself. Played liberation trying to beat legendary mode at least over 100 times and most of the time we lose to that stupid ass bug. Tedious

Things that would actually make this harder AND fun:
Extra wave of civvies in the first section
Faster movespeed/suck speed for the subjugators
Additional npc to protect vs subjugators
Less downtime between ai attacks
Conditional AI (push you when your at low hp/ in danger, group up before attacking etc)
Health pack respawn time increases
More penalties for enemies hitting you (e.g flyers applying a slow)
What we got:
Enemies with more hp and health.

Yeah this mission is a pain in the ass. I still haven’t finished it. I got to the very very end with the team of DVA, Pharah, Mercy, and Sojourn obviously. We were so incredibly close to finishing the mission that the Subjugators got them at the very very last second before they got onto the ship. It was soooo bullshit

First time I tried this mission, I was Zarya and very much regret it. Hard to keep her energy up. I think I got only 2 ults the whole mission. And I whiffed one of them.

Wow! Look at the end of mission unlock for completing legendary mode! Such cool cosmetics! And even a player badge on your player profile, such an awesome idea! Talk about that secret cut screen too, what a lore drop! Blizzard is back on top with their player rewards! I’m sure that you all feel really accomplished by beating some of the hardest pve Overwatch 2 has to offer

Can someone help with this? I'm a support main. People keep letting the omnics die or taking too much damage and die. The furthest I get is to that area where you have to protect the 2 omnics.
So yesterday I beat the Reggie section, but then the game bugged out and there was ONE enemy stuck in the wall or ceiling, and so the game kicked us for inactivity :/
Was just in a game where Winton and I were in a small corridor and somehow his body wasn't able to block someone getting past him. Is it the default of his ultimate there using for his hit and box ratio because that should get fixed
