The most unusual thing I ever caught was a dead cat that fell through the ice a few months before it was one of my favorite spots the cat always begged for a smelt needless to say I never went back and I didn't care if I payd $7.50 for the red devil lure I cut my line
funniest thing that happened to me was my first time ever when I went fishing as a kid.

6:00 Incident in Australia - beginning footage is of a Sailfish not a marlin, a sailfish is a fish of the genus Istiophorus of billfish living in colder areas of all the seas of the earth. They are predominantly blue to gray in colour and have a characteristic dorsal fin known as a sail, which often stretches the entire length of the back.
After all that great footage @ 06:29 a Marlin jumps into the vessel on the port side, a marlin is a fish from the family Istiophoridae, which includes about 10 species. It has an elongated body, a spear like snout or bill, and a long, rigid dorsal fin which extends forward to form a creast.
Both fish are considered in the "Billfish" category as far as game fishermen are concerned, however they are totally different species.

On 2:37, that in not a sea bass. That was a Goliath Grouper. The largest type of fish in the Grouper family. TOTALLY DIFFERENT FISH!

This video is crawling with mistakes. The fish eating the shark is not a sea bass. It's a Goliath Grouper which is a protected species, some people even use sharks as bait to catch them. The fish underwater they are calling a black Marlin is a sailfish not a Marlin. The fish that jumped into the boat is a Marlin but the underwater footage is actually a sailfish. Absolutely no comparison in size to each other. The sailfish is way smaller than what a black and blue Marlin can get too.

Fishing in northern CA I hooked a 45-50# bat ray. As I brought it close to a pier I was fishing from it slashed at a log pylon and drove a 5in slinger so deep in the pylon that I couldn't pry it out with pliers . Til then I had no idea how much power a ray can put behind a tail slap.

Yes one time I went to a lake and I wanted to fish but my dad was scared I was going to lose the fish pole but my dad Didn’t even trust himself to hold a fishing pole so he threw a net and immediately it started pulling and we had catched a Fish with spiky teeth and head that’s long spike nose It was a struggle to get it back in the water because we couldn’t eat it and it was illegal to eat that fish🎣 🐠

I walked to a remote pond in the Lowcountry of South Carolina several years ago. As I fished along the banks, I noticed a big largemouth bass over a bed in clear water. I threw practically every lure in my box and the fish paid no attention. I finally decided to try another method. (I was about 16 years old). I took a large saltwater hook and tried to snag the fish. Just as I dragged the hook across the fishbed, that bass grabbed it and after a short fight, I had him. He weighted over 7 lbs.

I once caught a 9 lb large mouth bass which had a smaller fish in it's mouth and that fish had an even smaller fish in it's mouth and that fish had a #2 Mepps spinning lure in it's lip. What a catch!

I have a fishing story most of you won't believe. A cousin, Ricky, a "big" fellow, was standing in hip waders in Tennessee River backwaters fishing. From the bank his uncle saw a huge snake seining for fish swimming along the bank. A snake opens it's mouth and swims hoping to bump into a fish which they will then bite and swallow. Luckily, for Ricky, this does not include injecting venom as the fish cannot get away once the snake closes its' mouth. So, the uncle shouts "Look out!" too late, the snake bumps Ricky and snaps shut its' mouth to recoil powerfully away. It pulled a piece of the hip waders, an eighth inch thick sheet of rubber, from the thigh that a grown man could put both fists in, the fangs grazed his thigh entering and exiting about an inch apart and tore through the skin as the snake pulled away from him. A normal snake bite of even a large snake can be covered with your index finger, the fangs marks of this bite could not be covered with a grown mans' palm! Rick did a Jesus imitation and walked on water getting back to the bank because he said he heard his uncle shouts, looked down, and saw a snake head bigger than his thigh (not a small thing) as it bumped not him, and the next clear memory was of looking back at the water from the bank.

If you visit Northern Australia, keep away from the water's edge and keep a sharp watch. Even small creeks can have a big croc. A croc can take a person in two seconds.

a 6' bull shark came out of the water- grabbed the crab. I don't know how but the crab
let go of the hook and the shark swallowed it. Took over an hour to walk the shark onto
the beach. Was my first catch ever (age 12) and haven't caught another since. (62 now)

The teeth of a bull shark are not that sharp. They feed mostly on shell fish so it
is a crushing force rather than ripping.

Without a doubt it is a seal. Sharks are not brown and covered in fur last time i checked.
My Father runs a fishing charter in Upstate NY and had a guy last summer that had a seagull take his bait ,hooked it’s self then they had to fly it like a kite until they could get the seagull back into the boat to get the hook out if it’s mouth. Now that’s some funny shit to watch lol

I love to fish for Jackfish (chain pickerel) in a blackwater river near my home in South Carolina. I once caught a big one, and upon landing it, it had a smaller jackfish halfway down it's throat and halfway out. Those fish are mean and great fighters.

We we're motorboating on the Suwannee River in Georgia a few years back and 7.5 foot sturgeon
jumped out of the river, struck our boat, flew over our heads and landed on the on the other side of it. Sadly the fish hurt itself pretty badly and when we turned around to see what we had hit (or had hit us) we saw it slowly moving but badly injured. Although we were thankful that none of us in our boat were hurt, it was terrible to see such a large fish in such condition (dying).

Up in the northeast, we get a lot of pike. They love to go for shiny, so don't go diving in freshwater with a watch! But the real thing to watch out for is beavers. They love to grab my bait and I have been knocked out cold by a tail whip! It hurts for days....

My sister got her fishing license I didn't have one, we were enjoying the day at the siletz river in Oregon and a 11" trout bulleted into my foot, I yelled to my sis about it she came over after some time trying to catch the distressed fishit had a rusty fish hook stick in its lip! My sis removed the hook & released the fish, then a king Fisher spotted the fish . Then the very happy trout was swimming rings of gratitude around us all the while trying to shoo mr.fish to safety fo deep water from the bird, afterwards my sister said we should of just kept the fish. I was just happy to help it.

What I learned: I don't want to swim in ocean, and everything gets eaten
One time I was at a lake and I was fishing and all of the sudden my line was jerked forward and I was pulling and fighting and then my brother came over and started to help me and then when we pulled it in, it was a 2-3 foot fish, and at the time I was really little so I was really proud of myself
My younger brother and I used to go fishing with our dad as kids at the1000 islands. Our dad would usually for most of the day use live bait like large minnows and fish for Pike while we used worms mostly and fished for "pan fish" a.k.a. perch,sun fish and other small fish that were plentiful and kept us occupied while Dad went for the bigger ones like Pike, bass, etc. This day dad had been fishing since before sunrise for Pike with live minnows but hadn't caught anything and had barely even had hits on his line. Around three in the afternoon dad said aah the heck with it I'm gonna put on a work too maybe I'll at least catch something. He bought sooner changed his bait and cast is work out and wham! Something huge hit his work and was fighting like crazy! Finally after all day of nothing dad got it close enough to realize it was a huge Pike! He finally landed it almost 30 minutes later got it in boat where it was thrashing around and barely missed gashing my leg wide open with ts dorsal fin. We were all really curious and surprised as Pike don't generally ignore live minnows and hit like mad on a worm until dad proceeded to unhook it. Unbelievably, a good size perch had hit the worm as soon as it hit the water and was instantly hit by the huge Pike. After all day of fishing for Pike with minnows dad finally had his fish on a worm taken by the perch who was then hit on by the pike!

I was fly fishing for large pike and Muskie with my antique bamboo fly gear. Way back in the 70’s up north in Ontario Canada. I was getting tired and not much action late in the day. I started to smack my rod on the water surface and strip my line in really hard and fast. All of a sudden a giant 5’ long pike jumped up out of the water right at me. It hit me in the head as it went past my right shoulder. It scared the crap out of me. All I could think of was jaws junior was about to swallow me while. I was at least four feet deep in the water.
