Well I wasn’t expecting anyone to really care, but the é at the end of garbagé is just a stupid inside joke among my friends and I, sorry for the confusion
I like to imagine the reason the track is so long is because they wanted you to enjoy yourself. Not just by playing the game, but simply for existing. This is the last track of the game, and it's like one final breather.
I remember in 1998 my mom and I played Mario Kart. This was her favorite level. Every time I hear this theme, I remember her. I miss you mom. She passed away the day before Mother's Day this year. I like how happy and chill this one is. It doesnt sound hectic or fast paced like you'd figure a racing song would. It's like it's celebrating with you, saying "You got this far! Just one more track and you're the champ!" It also compliments the fact that the track is so long, it's dragged out but not in a bad way.
It's just a shame Nintendo had to ruin it in MK8, visuals wise the track looks gorgeous, but having the laps in between just ruins it, + the music for MK8's version doesn't feel the same.
This was the first game I ever played as a kid, and my dad would co-op it with me all the time. I remember him getting all huffy the first time I learned you could jump off the huge fall at the beginning, and skip half the track. It's been two years since he crossed the rainbow road. I miss him... I love having this memory to hold onto, though..
I get a feeling of proceeding from it, the feeling that the past cannot be returned to; but the future is bright. Though what was lost is gone, the future will bring greatness none of us can predict. My emotions when writing this comment cannot be put into text. This song simply radiates soul.
i love it when people are smiling at their phone. perhaps they recieved a message from a loved one. what could be estabilishing such happiness in that moment the phone: this epic song that has brought us great memories
This song reminds me a lot of my father. Whenever I needed to sleep to go study the next day, I secretly turned on my N64 to always play the last game. And he almost always picked me up, always on Raimbow Road. This year, it's been 10 years since he crossed Raimbow Road. What comforts me is that I know that when I cross Raimbow Road as well, he will be waiting for me as usual on the last lap. I miss you, Dad.
I think what amazes me about this piece is this is inside of a 90's racing game, with the N64's sound limitations and yet... you can really feel the heart and passion of the project that these composers had. It's quite inspiring that even in old kids racing games, they wanted to create masterpieces for us to remember and cherish years later. These weren't just games, these were culminations of a central passion for fun and wonder and that is why Mario Kart will forever be a favorite of mine.
you can feel heart and passion in games that are a hell of a lot older than mario kart 64, but you sound like you're a little young to know about those
Obviously guy 😅 I don't think I said anything about the heart and passion being exclusive to this game. You sound like you're a little too young to understand that though.
This song helped me through a tough time in my life. My mom had become emotionally abusive and my parents divorced. My mom had almost full custody of me and my little brother, and we could only see our dad the last weekend of the month. We would all have a grand Prix of this game, and hearing this song made me and my brother believe there was light at the end of the tunnel
I laughed, I cryed, I remembered and I smiled. Music is the only language the soul understands. After all everything is just vibrations. Love you all 😘🤗✌️
It really does feel like a farewell. In many ways, it is. Ironic that it was also basically a launch title for the N64, so it was actually more of a beginning.

lol... we always played games to win, and yes of course they were fun and made us happy, but to pretend that they weren't always competitive is delusional
This brings back so many memories. I got this game and my N64 on my 7th birthday and when I first saw Rainbow Road, I was blown away. I used to ignore the race and just take my time watching all the lights in the sky. It was so beautiful, I'll never forget it.
I’m 17 now and I still remember when I was 7 years old playing Mario kart 64 with my dad playing with all my cousins at the same time it really brings back good memories and I just bought a Nintendo 64 with Mario kart 64 and I’ve been playing with my dad usually and it just gives me tears and I cry for playing this game for a long time god bless you global
You're 18, imagine how I felt when I played this back in 99 and I was 5 with all of my cousin exposing me to this masterpiece, at the time I had only played the SNES Mario Kart, when this came out it was insane and revolutionary...I remember playing yoshi on SNES and on this one I said "why not try Toad ?" My boy and I have been racing partners since 😄😄😄 I'm 27 now and back when Double Dash came out it was Toad and Toadette when choosing characters 😎👍🏻 Toad Forever well more like Toad/Link now 🤣🤣🤣
I had a playlist called, "Video game music that is so beautiful" that had this and kalamari desert in it, and I saw something that said, "deleted video." I wondered, "Which ones were deleted?" I wanted to cry when I figured out those were the deleted ones😭💔 Edit: I literally forgot I made this comment. This track still gets me really emotional tho And just another side note, for those of you who are saying "he" I'm actually a girl lol
I feel your pain, but I’m kinda glad this happened because I was able to listen to other songs from games I had in my playlist whilst recovering them and ended up liking them too and placing them in my playlist with other reuploads
One of the very first memories i have is being allowed in my older sister's room on a rare occasion. She abd one if her friends were playing this and they let me choose a track. It was Rainbow road 64. I was amazed seeing sll of the characters in the sky, the colors. Pure magic to 4 year old me. Fast forward to my 20's and I bought Mario Kart deluxe and got to play it myself for the first time. The colors, the characters becoming fireworks, the song. Pure, unadulterated magic. I almost cried tears of joy.
I never even played Mario Kart 64 but the motif at 0:34 has been used in other rainbow roads that I have grown up with (namely Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Kart 7.) It is as if that motif connects multiple generations of kids and nostalgia together, it really is beautiful.
I literally listen to this song (almost) every time on my evening commute. Less stress and makes it feel like I'm actually driving in Mario Kart. Just missing the power ups lol. Wished there was a 10 hour version so I can also listen when I sleep. It's no surprise this final race track is unusually longer than all the rest. It gives us time to listen to this beautiful soundtrack (without doing that big jump shortcut in the beginning lol).
I miss the comment section of the original video. It always was talking about the love we had for the song as well as how it has a completion feeling. I remember wanting this to be my graduation theme for college and high school, which now 2 years later I will be graduating both at the same time unexpectedly..
I don't know why but this song promoves that feeling that when you die you actually gonna be running across a rainbow road and everyone that you've met in life and is important to you is sending you the goodbyes.
I just turned 13 years old, but i used to play Mario Kart 64 on an Arcade, every day, it was difficult to reach Rainbow Road, since you have to reach at least fourth place on each race before it, but when i got there, i felt great. It really doesn't matter when or where do you have born, your childhood can be made of games from any generation, anyways, you're having fun.
The times you sat down with your mates playing on a small tv, 4 screen, having a fight on which one gets the joystick who has a handicap, Then almost crawl in the tv because the screen was so tiny with four players, and you always knew when to land a green shell, And still not give in that you looked on your mates screen. Those were the best days of my life #90's kid
Wow this teleported me back to a simpler time. Crazy memories of life - family and friends who’ve since passed all flooding back! Masterpiece. Life was good back in 1997.
This song makes me think of playing this game with my siblings and all my friends in this one house I grew up in. I'd do anything to relive this moment.
I remember when my 8th grade science teacher on the last day brought her Nintendo 64 to class for the class to play, and this was the game she had for it. For some reason I cried when I played this course, don’t know why but…it was worth it
This song always made me feel happy and sad at the same time. Like something telling you to aspire and chase your dreams and that you have the support to make them happen but also like saying good-bye to cherished friends you've known forever and that you might never see them again or at least for a long time. (Also reminds me of school graduations.)

If only it is of mine, I grew up with Mario Kart DS and Wii, though I wish it was... it seems so phenomenal
I grew up with Mario kart 64.
indeed..

I like this one the best. I mean Mario kart 7 was missing this. When I play mk7 I always think that. Mk8 RE made this but it wasn’t as good as this could be
1.25 speed FINAL LAP
... that took ten years to get to
I was in the lead for like 17 hours of a race and I got chomped by a chainchomp 3 seconds before the race ended and I fell all the way to 5th...

I remember back when people didn't play games to win or lose, they simply played because they were fun and made them happy
Totally. I especially having mates around or playing games with my mum.
People do still do that
Mostly just "old" people nowadays though
Whenever my cousin plays he takes his time in order to enjoy it more
lol... we always played games to win, and yes of course they were fun and made us happy, but to pretend that they weren't always competitive is delusional
Bruh what, it's been that way since humanity has existed and people still play both ways
Proof that you are never too Young or Old for Video games.
Dude this rainbow road theme is beautiful and it almost made me cry
@James Schafer I remember still having an N64 around the same time
@James Schafer I was 3 years old at that time
You're 18, imagine how I felt when I played this back in 99 and I was 5 with all of my cousin exposing me to this masterpiece, at the time I had only played the SNES Mario Kart, when this came out it was insane and revolutionary...I remember playing yoshi on SNES and on this one I said "why not try Toad ?" My boy and I have been racing partners since 😄😄😄 I'm 27 now and back when Double Dash came out it was Toad and Toadette when choosing characters 😎👍🏻 Toad Forever well more like Toad/Link now 🤣🤣🤣

this...*holding back tears* this legend of a song brings back some amazing memories
I had a playlist called, "Video game music that is so beautiful" that had this and kalamari desert in it, and I saw something that said, "deleted video." I wondered, "Which ones were deleted?" I wanted to cry when I figured out those were the deleted ones😭💔
Edit: I literally forgot I made this comment. This track still gets me really emotional tho
And just another side note, for those of you who are saying "he" I'm actually a girl lol

I almost cried tears of joy.
good times 🥲

When i pass on im taking the rainbow road to heaven to see my dear friend again. Keep my seat warm for me my dear!
I did that leaving it in the new loop on mobile devices TH-cam and i dream the track an endless race it was funny and enjoyable
Just put it on loop
I miss the comment section of the original video. It always was talking about the love we had for the song as well as how it has a completion feeling. I remember wanting this to be my graduation theme for college and high school, which now 2 years later I will be graduating both at the same time unexpectedly..
dang, i am 37. This game came out while I was in middle school around 12 years old just before my great grandmother passed away.
It brings back many memories when I used to play this game with my friends, it was always our special race track, the music is unforgettable.

Take a listen to mk7 Rainbow Road. Just wait until you get to the main course.

My Favourite track is Waluigi Pinball.
N64 rainbow road is only one best track on the World ♥️🧡💛💚💙💜

This rainbow road is in space though
I don't know why but this song promoves that feeling that when you die you actually gonna be running across a rainbow road and everyone that you've met in life and is important to you is sending you the goodbyes.
I wasn’t even alive in this era, but I don’t know why, it just feels like it brought back memories
yeah i did not live those years, it was in 2018.. i think.., when i played this beatiful game :)
I just turned 13 years old, but i used to play Mario Kart 64 on an Arcade, every day, it was difficult to reach Rainbow Road, since you have to reach at least fourth place on each race before it, but when i got there, i felt great. It really doesn't matter when or where do you have born, your childhood can be made of games from any generation, anyways, you're having fun.
the n64 is just timeless
@crunchyorange yep. im also pretty sure ive affiliated it with the nintendo 3ds rainbow road theme
@@canalmuertisimo9960 wait how did you play 64 on arcade
This song brings me back to my childhood! :’) ❤️❤️ the 90’s were indeed the best!! Gosh i miss this game!

I cried to this… TWICE
If this doesn't play at my funeral, I'm not dying
Man..this song…it’s magical (I played this game for a long time and I still do today)
"I only listen to *real* music!" Is what people say when they hear normal music...
...then they hear this...
"See? This is what I'm talking about!"
The times you sat down with your mates playing on a small tv, 4 screen, having a fight on which one gets the joystick who has a handicap,
Then almost crawl in the tv because the screen was so tiny with four players, and you always knew when to land a green shell, And still not give in that you looked on your mates screen.
Those were the best days of my life #90's kid
Wow this teleported me back to a simpler time. Crazy memories of life - family and friends who’ve since passed all flooding back! Masterpiece. Life was good back in 1997.
I agree 100%. I wish I could turn back time 25 years from now. To the good old days.
This is WAY before my time and i still love it. It shows how good nintendo is with music
I remembered playing this game and level with my late grandmother while eating rainbow sherbet.
This song makes me think of playing this game with my siblings and all my friends in this one house I grew up in.
I'd do anything to relive this moment.
If you have a switch you can
I remember when my 8th grade science teacher on the last day brought her Nintendo 64 to class for the class to play, and this was the game she had for it. For some reason I cried when I played this course, don’t know why but…it was worth it

This is the song that’s gonna play when I’m Racing into the 5th Dimension after I’m Dead and Gone from this Pieceashit World lol.
Mario Kart N64 has the best soundtrack of ANY Mario Kart game. Change my mind.
True very very true
This song always made me feel happy and sad at the same time. Like something telling you to aspire and chase your dreams and that you have the support to make them happen but also like saying good-bye to cherished friends you've known forever and that you might never see them again or at least for a long time.
(Also reminds me of school graduations.)
This is the most relatable comment. I always used to play this with my older brother and he died due to cancer.
i love this song!
