Master acting class you mean? These episodes are pre-planned and acted with the price agreed before filming... Nothing in these is real other than the product itself.
@@wekkimeif7720yes it's pre-planned. But the deals are real. It wouldn't shock me if the old man was just like that. Let me help you little buddy everything is scripted on television. You don't need to point out that pawn Stars is scripted every time. You know I got a friend like you really annoying pos. Here I was pointing out something with scripted or say that wrestling is fake. So he's a big marvel fan and we went to the avengers. The whole movie I was like wait a minute that wasn't really him that was a stunt double. His name is not even really iron Man this is fake. At the end of the movie he turn to me and asked am I really that annoying? I said yes.
Five nights at Freddy's never thought I would see the day that a computer gamer would be talking about someone else's weight lol. Corey is a millionaire so even at his heaviest weight I'd rather be him than you lol.
Yeh that’s what I thought till I looked at eBay, and I see this exact phonograph n others by Edison for around $300-900. This guy’s phonograph is in better condition with extra things, so $700 was fair. I doubt the pawn shop made much money on that.
This machine is a Edison Model A phonograph, this model was built most likely between 1898 and 1900 as in 1901 the green oak style Model A was introduced with a new cabinet design. The machine itself with the records, once it's cleaned up is probably worth about 800-1000 or so.
I’m sure it’s easy to talk like the old man when you’ve nearly always have the upper hand. HE’S GOT THE MONEY. So of course…old man will act cocky during his negotiations. If it were the other way around…we’d be seeing old man stuttering while taking a low ball offer 😂
Corey makes the same mistake many people make when listening to an old Edison phonograph. By today's standards they sound like crap, but when you realize people back in the day had NEVER heard a recording just to be able to understand what was recorded was considered a miracle! When phonographs were first introduced to the public people would literally stand in LONG lines just to be able to say they had actually heard a "Talking Machine" because that's what they called them back then, Talking Machines! Even Edison, when he made his first successful recording, admited he didn't really think it would work and was as surprised as those gathered around him when he was able to listen back to "Mary had a little lamb..." Recording the human voice was, before that day, thought to be something impossible to achieve. That it WAS achieved was as monumental an accomplishment as the first powered flight. Oh, and the old man paid too much for it!
@@oldradiosnphonographs Edison was able to record for the first time in 1877... but he then set that aside to work on the light bulb. He came back to recording when others started making a little money off of the technology and by 1887 he announced through Scientific American that he had perfected the technology! The publication ran a full, front page story on the Edison phonograph. I have an original copy of this framed and hanging on the wall next to one of my Edison phonographs!
1) They SLAMMED the needle down on the cylinder. 2) Why are they moving the phonograph with weight visibly bearing on the cylinder? 3) The guy touched the cylinder with his bare hands, a no no.
Yeah either Corey is being a dolt or the show made him out to be one …the idea that he would listen to a beeswax recording from 1901 and he was going to actually enjoy it from a pure entertainment perspective is absurd?!!! The joy is listening and thinking how amazing it is and was to hear records or recordings in their infancy!!!! Such a cool item!!!!
Really enjoyable seeing the old man as an expert very cool I liked him the most I hope he's doing well up in heaven🙏 but we all miss him.a lot guy was very classy and was a awesome guy rest in peace 😢❤
Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner But he knew it couldn't last He was travelling at a rodeo in Tuscon, Arizona Where he found Edison's phonograph Get back, get back Get back to where you once belonged...
Llegué a este video porque estoy leyendo el libro "La guerra de las plataformas" de Carlos Scolari y este empieza con esta escena para hablar de las características de una obra de Edison quien, según Scolari, además de inventor era un genio del marketing.
1:35 well duhhh its from like 1899 what tf was he expecting? CD quality?? You gotta put yourself in the shoes in someone from the 1890s and not expect much.
Cory was once a young punk, but now he's sadly transformed into an unappreciative drug addict. It's disheartening to see how kids who are given everything often fail to appreciate anything.

That phonograph transports you to a completely different time. Imagine hearing that for the first time. It must have been utterly mind blowing.
The Old Man putting on a negotiation master class. Gone but not forgotten.

@@wekkimeif7720I read that the negotiation and prices aren't pre-agreed upon but most of the rest of the segment(s) are loosely planned.

The seller got so excited to meet the Old Man he decided to change his shirt halfway through
He went from a t-shirt to a polo. The old man could negotiate the shirt right off your back and swap it for another!
And to a Green shirt(like The Irish song that he played)
⭕ 😂😂😂😂😂 ⭕
The old man sure could wheel and deal with the best of em!
That's the way you negotiate
$675 that’s my last offer
😂 r.i.p old man. I learned something today.
The old man was a shrewd negotiater.
Yes it was classy
I really miss the old man. He was the salt and pepper of this show!May his soul rest in peace !!!
RIP Old Man, you were the best wheeler and dealer Vegas ever saw...
Rick confuses having a big head with being the head honcho, which is me. -The Old Man.
You know its an old episode when corey is impersonating fat albert.
Hey hey hey. Fatttttt Albert

i miss the old man
Corey has no appreciation for history !
Corey was horrified by the music 😂
RIP the old man. He is still very missed.
The old man was a pro
Never would’ve sold it for less than 5 grand. Would’ve laughed at him and called Cory fat before I left.

if you ask 5k for that thing, you are going to live with it all your life. Thankfully, the seller was not silly.
That player is a work of art. Thanks for the video.
Seeing the OG Richard Harrison is always a treasure!
His presentation was on point though 😂
Love the old man
I miss the old man. I loved him breaking the hearts of the greedy sellers.
What an epic video with grandpa wheeling a deal. The phonograph was way too cool and interesting, kinda like the ole man...!😊

Exactly, you gotta put yourself in the shoes of someone in 1898 and not expect you’re getting audiophile sound due to the limitations of the time

That's how to negotiate
Rick wouldn't paid more than 500
I like when he retracts the larger offer for a smaller offer (700 to 675). Very good tactic
1) They SLAMMED the needle down on the cylinder. 2) Why are they moving the phonograph with weight visibly bearing on the cylinder? 3) The guy touched the cylinder with his bare hands, a no no.
what I liked about the old man is he'd lower is offer without hesitation

I think I remember seeing this one on a field trip to Thomas Edison's original house sitting right next to his bifocals.Really 🤔🤠
Just realized the guys shirt changed as soon as the old man came in.
Recorded at different times. Probably when he called old man and old man wasn't in there and said I'll see you tomorrow
Good catch👍
Never seen anyone negotiating backwards .. 700$ to 675$ and then back to 700😂😂😂

This wasn't a deal, it was a rip-off. That's a piece of history. Unbelievable.
just because something is old does not mean it is valuable. it is a machine meant to be sold to PPL. 675 is a good deal for him to get rid of it.
