Everyone suspected Pokemon Legends in Unova, or maybe in Johto, but honestly, Kalos one is a pleasant suprise.
It was obvious tbh. Kalos and Sinnoh legendaries were the only old ones not featured in Indigo Disk, which itself was almost entirely based in Unova. They weren't going to bring Unova back after having an expansion set there and we already got Sinnoh remakes and Legends. Kalos was the outlier.

I wasn't expecting jhoto tbh. Let's go was an early switch years one off to lure in the casual pokemon go crowd. Hence the identical mechanics and at the time, pokemon available, and linking meltan to let's go. Since pokemon go was still fresh at the time and gen 1 was the only available mons in go

It is a legends game. Legends games are set in the past, based off precedent of the 1 legends game we have. AZ is over 3000 years old. With the folder in question being Urban Redevelopment, i would hazard the assumption that this game will be taking place after the Great War that took place during Az's time.

The look on Michael's face when the "Z" appeared onscreen was so friggin genuine and adorable it gives me life.
I love how his face lights up from seeing pokemon legends 3:40 and then goes even wilder at the Z appearing, and then goes into despair after seeing 2025. mickey went through all the stages of grief.

They've set huge expectations with the previous Legends game, I'd rather they develop too long so we can get a good game rather than them rushing and it inevitably being a terrible game

this was actually probably the best choice for a new legends game.
- finally finishing the x and y story
- whole game is based in one city making for a really interesting gameplay experience
- mega evolution is back
- kalos starters most likely in the wild, marking by far the easiest way to obtain them (they're in indigo disk but you have to pay like 9000 bp to get all three)
- furfrou appears in a switch game for the first time, one of only 22 remaining pokemon yet to appear in one natively (with 13 being mythicals)
- diancie, hoopa, and volcanion are most likely readily accessible without mystery gift for the first time, also marking the first time where diancie and hoopa are legitimately obtainable in all regions of the world since 2016
- az's floette could be obtainable for the first time
- 100 zygarde cells is less than 107 spiritomb wisps?
obviously a lot of this is speculation but given what legends arceus did, it's not too far-fetched to assume that legends z-a will do a lot of these too
plus it gives them more time to fix unova, since they cant remake one specific version so they have to make a new game involving the best aspects of both versions, I cant wait for gen 5

What I find interesting is that in the beginning of S&V everyone was talking about the connection to Kalos until the dlc. The fact that S&V was on the border of Kalos and at that border we saw Kalos Pokemon. People originally thought that Kalos would have been where we go in the dlc. It makes sense it’s Kalos.
Thank god it wasn't the DLC area. Kalos already played second fiddle to Hoenn in its own debut generation, it didn't need to be an appendage of Paldea too. An actual game is much preferred.

Unova got two good and complete game pairs, I'd say they've had fair rep before that sideshow in Blueberry. Kalos was severely lacking by comparison.

Showing off Unown in the clips and Tyranitar/Raikou in the completely unrelated side game promos is not Johto teasing. Y'all are trying to read so deep between the lines that you end up missing what's clear in from of you.
I like that reference to the anime because the first episode of Pokémon the series XYZ is called from A to Z and the new legends game is called Pokémon Legends Z to A or ZA
I think of that episode where Squishy was introduced.
I'd be very happy if they don't directly reference that tumour on the otherwise good XY anime series.

Z crystals, Dynamax/Gigantamax and Terastallization are cool but there is something about megas, they should return to megas from now on.

This was such a left turn I never could’ve expected. I thought for sure Black and White, not a new Legends IN KALOS IN LUMIOSE
Many are confused because of the holographic presentation but gonna say it here...
That's why it's called Pokemon Legends Z-A because its usually takes place before the original game comes up. The holographic presentation is just a blueprint for redeveloping the urbanize Lumiose City. The key words here we know it's before XY is the "A Vision of beautiful coexistence between people and Pokemon..." means that there are still conflict with the relationship if pokemon and humans. Modern eras are now getting along with pokemon but here it's to coexist. Also not a coincidence that they choose Kalos after Paldea because Paldea is a representation of Spain so it's near France which Kalos is based on. Not gonna be surprised if they mentioned Paldea and Galar (representation of UK) because they were in war before.
Also, Urban Redevelopment is exactly what's happening in Paris at the exact same time the Meiji were colonizing Hokkaido.

When they showed the unown I was certain it was Johto. The the visual I was thinking legends and golden rod. Then had the exact reaction to the tower. So excited for this.
Pokémon X was my first pokémon game (I never got a Nintendo console before the 3DS lol) so seeing Kalos get some (DESERVED) love/update makes me very happy!

As a Kalos fan I see this as an absolute win and I’m glad the game is coming in 2025 so they have more time to work on the game! And the employees can go home and see their families!!! Also this was the biggest jabaited moment from the Pokemon Company!
So I didn't realize it until much later that the unown at the end is an anagram of "See You" maybe as like a "see you later" type send off.

I think the game is going to take place roughly at the same time as Legends Arceus. In the late 1800s Paris went through an urban renewal in which Napoleon wanted it to become the city of the future. It took literal decades but they transformed Paris from an outdated town into a modern metropolitan City, and screwed over a lot of people and went into monstrous debt in the process. But I think the hologram version of modern Lumiose City we see it's supposed to be the idealic dream of the urban redevelopment program in universe

The fact that it's a Legends game makes me believe that the Pokemon Company/Gamefreak wants to focus on a series where we see how different regions first got to live together with Pokemon. We did that in Hisui and now in Lumiose City. I saw someone have a theory that it might be about the rebuilding of Lumiose City after the Kalos war and my take on that is that they're gonna learn to see Pokemon as something other than weapons of mass destruction

Plus, the name makes sense. Its Z-A because of the character AZ from X and Y.

I think the combination of the lack of gameplay footage and the fact that it did not specify early 2025, it could mean that the game isn't going to come out until the end of 2025. Which probably means we're not going to get information for a long time.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is the perfect opportunity to dwell in on the Great Pokemon War with AZ and his Floette, the Limited Mega Forms in the Present, and lore behind Ash-Greninja, making these core/side journeys on the Zygarde plot planned for the game.
Like making the atmosphere at the time allowing mega forms for some pokemon to be exclusive at that time period (like an old Zygarde form had aura for those exclusive megas), having the time period take place during the Mega Stone meteorites from space or having their mega stones collected/destroyed during the war, implying that those "old" mega forms got extinct/were forgotten in the future, the same parallels for Hisuian forms gone extinct and has barely any reminders in thr present day.
As for the Ash-Greninja lore, they could have Greninja's form as old Kalos's Legendary Guardian alongside the ninja hero from the Pokemon XYZ anime to make them one of the heroes who helped in a Zygarde incident at that time period. Add in a Mega Charizard Z still exclusive to that time and a rival/antagonist/possile champion similar to Volo in Legends Arceus and that could also parallel to Ash and Alain being the reincarnations of these two characters ( I got the idea of Naruto and Sasuke being reincarnations of Ashura and Indra), or perhaps have the ninja hero be the you; the playable character the hero of this journey.
As for the Great Pokemon War, Gamefreak could perhaps find ways to connect these events, from the Mega phenomenon to the connections of AZ and floette, to the Greninja lore, I mean the game title itself is swapped with AZ's name, perhaps that was intented or just a coincidence but if ever a plot was already made or implemented, these storylines are one of the perfect ones to include in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Dude I am SO EXCITED for more Kalos!!! That was the region that was happening when I got back into Pokémon when I was in middle school, and Pokémon X was the first Pokémon game I ever played! I still love it and it still has a special place in my heart and I cannot WAIT to see what they decide to do with it!! Especially if they’re going the same route as Legends: Arceus and have it take place in a historical setting of some kind, if it’s intended to parallel the reconstruction of Paris after revolution, then I’m even MORE EXCITED because I am a historian and I LOVE when Pokémon expands its history!!

I just spent a few minutes trying to unscramble the Unowns. The first time it was a scrambled "POKEMON PRESENTS" (as you'd expect from the oppening) and near the end it went "SEE YOU ?" And here I though something secret was there.
This may be a stretch. but that A in the title could also serve as the symbol for Delta, tying in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. In the trailer it had pokemon that got their megas in X and Y but we had a few other that got megas in ORAS. I thought saw a Pidgeoto and maybe a beedril as well, still unsure. I've gone back and tried to identify every pokemon but some I just can't make out. Again it may be a stretch LOL. I'm very excited regardless.

Y was the first game I got to play rrom the beginning (I didnt know how to reset save files until then) so I was ABSOLUTELY FLABBERGHASTED when they showed this off man, I was like "thats lumiose city, but its in the Black 2 colour palette...... HOLY SH-" my dudes I was literally screaming and laughing "YES YEEEEES" for like 20 minutes, never have I ever experienced so much Dopamine and Adrenaline activate in such a shirt period of time in my life😂.
