Welcome to Sleep Token, man. They’re a box of chocolates. Going into any song from here, abandon expectation. They blur genre lines and don’t fit in any one box. Their “sound,” if it could be defined, is like if djent and shoegaze got mixed together in a blender with pop, trap, R&B, jazz, soul, electronic and genres beyond, with a dash of sexy. They’ll keep you guessing, and Vessel’s voice is in a class of its own imo. His vocal versatility is nuts. The drummer is god-tier, too. For where to go from here, choose your own adventure. There’s no wrong pick, but popular options would be Chokehold, Alkaline, The Offering, Hypnosis and Higher, among others. Oh, and as far as the count for The Summoning, try this: for the opening riff that repeats a few times in the first half of the song, count two sixes, one four and repeat: 6-6-4-6-6-4. Once you get to the verse, everything is in 4 - but it doesn’t feel that way because the drummer is modulating like a madman. I tried to count it in a million ways until I grew bitter and sarcastically counted it in 4. Imagine my surprise. But yeah, I’m pretty confident that main riff is 6-6-4 and everything else is in 4. Enjoy! And worship.
Been a fan since The Offering which is a must. Try Atlantic for epicness then try Fall for me for something completely different. I think the only genre I haven't heard yet is reggae, but there's still time. Every track is different and surprising Worship
Well, welcome to this amazing rabbit hole! Sleep Token is a unique band, their sound isn't something linear, you never know what to expect from them! You can check some older songs, The Summoning is from their upcoming album Take Me Back To Eden. I recommend Thread The Needle, Nazareth, The Offering, and Alkaline. The singer identify himself as Vessel, and the rest of the band are known as II (drummer), III (guitar) and IV (bass). They're amazing, worship!
You should hear the offering, the love you want, alkaline, blood sport (from the room below) this one is perfect to hear amazing Vessel voice more clearly, all of the last album Chokehold, Aqua Regia, Granite and Vore are great too, of course I always recommend watching some of their live performances because I think it adds so much more to this band and well I'm always up for III shenanigans haha
Vessel is the only singer for Sleep Token ("IV" the touring guitarist helps with live harsh vocals) he and the drummer (known as "II") write all of the music. Some songs are written only by Vessel, he also helps produce all the music. Carl Bown is the producer for this album(they've also worked with George Lever). They compose and execute music absolutely beautifully. Worship.
Haha I love seeing people try to figure out time signatures of Sleep Token. The trick is…don’t. 😂🖤 Sleep Token are the best band I have ever come across and the recent album is definitely my AOTY! You should go down the rabbit hole now. They’re genre bending and use elements of everything from rock, metal, RnB, trap, hip hop, gospel, and more. Even if you don’t like one song don’t write them off as every song is different and as you can see from this one they switch up completely through the songs, also don’t be thrown off by some of them being 7-8 minutes long either as it goes by far too quickly. You should start at the beginning and work your way through as they tell a story and have call backs to a lot of them. The band are anonymous, I and others know who they are but won’t reveal out of respect to the band and fans but the singer goes by the moniker Vessel, drummer, who is a beast is II, bassist III and guitarist IV. From London UK. As far as their discography goes they brought out two EPs called One and Two, then 2 singles called Jaws and The Way That You Were, then the three albums Sundowning, The Place Will Become Your Tomb, then TMBTE (Take Me Back To Eden). They’ve done five covers that I’m aware of. One being Hey Ya by OutKast, I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston, Is It Really You? By Loathe and When The Party’s Over by Billie Eilish, Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. His Vocal range I believe is B ♭2 to F#5 and he has a wonderful chest voice, head voice and scream. I have never hyper fixated on a band like I have with these! Loved the react and Will subscribe and hopefully see many more. 🖤 The trilogy = Seduction. Destruction. Liberation.
if you like hearing stuff that feels organic and natural, and discovering songs "that feels like it's manifested out of the ether" then you are in for a treat with this band. Just select "random" and enjoy.
The drummer (ii) and the singer (vessel) are responsible for the writing and recording. The bassist (iii) and guitarist (iv) have always been strictly live performers. I'm hoping that will change. Because the 4 of them are great together live.
Definately check out granite, alkaline, higher, Atlantic, and blood sport. That's a healthy mix of their range. Enjoy the rabbit hole, my friend. Good reaction!
well you know the rumors about IV joining the band and making some of the vocals for Vore, and it was also rumored that III joined the band too but well we need to wait for the new album
@@PrymalChaos of course man! got a new sub here \m/ I would recommend you check out October Ends - Of Stars too ;) Or any of their new stuff they're incredible!
Welcome aboard! I appreciate you taking a look. My channel is fairly diverse in nature, so don't be surprised if some random reactions pop up, but I definitely love to get back to these type of proggy bands, so stay tuned!
Man... My dad bought me a ticket to Aftershock on Friday and I ended up paying for a ticket on Saturday. While going through the bands on the lineup I came across Sleep Token. Amazing band and I'm glad I just discovered them! I'm exited to look more into their music.
I've only recently got into Sleep Token; so, I'll let others make more suggestions. I'd like to, instead, recommend Seeker Pearl. Like Sleep Token, they have some prog elements without falling into tropes. Granted, they only have six released tracks, but they all sound different and yet feel cohesive, if that makes any sense? "Deja Vu" and their most recent track, "Oversoul" are standouts to me. \m/
I'll second Alkaline & Chokehold but if you want to go mathy progy fantastico check out Sokoninaru, want to go back to some original vocals try Xiu Xiu or otoboke Beaver.
I’ve listened to metal music for over 30years, in this time I have basically honed a good ear for Good music regardless of genre, ac/dc was my first love Bon Scott era, I can basically listen to Coldplay and next song could be Cradle of filth , good music is good music, people that know me cant understand how I can do it and don’t get the metal screams, I tell them they listen to the music BUT can’t hear it !! Lol . Sleep token I believe have opened their music up with this album to a wider range of listener, I can see me listening to this album for a long time
You asked for a ONE OK ROCK song to react to that's opposite of "We Are" and "Take what you want". A great example would be "The Beginning" at Yokohama stadium. I'm sure after hearing it you'll end up going down their rabbit hole.

Blurring genre lines is like magic words for me. Thanks for the heads up on the rhythm! 😃

The singer writes everything I think. Dude is a GENIUS! He’s like a modern Trent Reznor
Oh cool! I didn't know that. Not really surprising though, this band is a massive mystery to me.

I'm certainly impressed. Very cool vibe.
Alkaline and Chokehold are excellent. The drumming is insane
Great reaction ❣️ i love all of their songs but recommending Ascensionism or Rain. 2 of my favorites

Vessel plays the guitar, bass, piano, and sings on all their past studio recordings.

their song hypnosis with just the drummer playing it is amazing
Nice reaction! I really enjoy your analyses

Doesn't matter what just keep listening to them and posting the reactions
Vessel is the singer
I got into Sleep Token recently with Will Ramos’s cover of Chokehold and Hypnosis. 100% worth a listen

Music porn get over it 😂😂 love it
Wait till you get around to the new album, lord is it good.. no, good is too bland a term, it's f'ing amazing
