    Hi Dean. Nice follow up. Me too I`m at 11k km on the ODO done between may and october this year. I had the counter shaft leak that the dealer tried to repair during three visits with no success. iT ended by installing an not oem seal. Second thing I still observe is wobbling of the front wheel between 50-60km/h and it always happen, doesn`t matter if during acceleration or in neutral. Hope the tire replacment will take it off. Besides that it`s a super tourer. Much better than ie. GS750/850 in versatility and handling - you just can`t compare them, maybe because GS is more adv oriented but still it`s simmilar shelve. As I couldn`t permit myself to do multi days trips I had always to come back home for night so I even did day trips close to 900km Poland and Slovakia mountains) and of course 900km is chalenging but times easier than on a duke and still comfortable. Cheers. I`m planing to do apls next year ~4000km trip in ~6-7 days. I cant wait!! :)

    As another 890 smt owner, your videos have been a huge help and a big thank you for that. One big plus for me out of many- as a brembo snob I still can't believe how good the j juan front brake is. One minus for me out of very few- occasionally the bike cuts off between 3rd and 2nd when i rev match manually.

      Thanks dean, I love what you’ve done to the look of the bike with the decals. I looked at pro works and they seem to do a complete kit. Can you order specific decals? And as you’ve had all the different screens I’d love to hear your views. Sounds like you switch them around? Lovely bikes I’ll agree. Totally fits the brief - a supermoto that tours (somewhat different, in a good way, from a sports tourer which was my other option)

    Great summary, thanks. I test rode one a couple of months ago and really liked it. The engine is a real peach and power is sufficient. I have a Multistrada V4S today and I never felt that the SMT was lacking. Nice to be able to twist the throttle a bit more than a quarter from time to time.... The most impressive though was the handling and agility. The Multi is good (for its size and weight) but the SMT was in a different league, although I missed the electronically adjustable suspensien. (Have you tried fiddling with the adjusters?) I found the vibrations to be no worse than the Multi' and with cruise control one can always get to take the hands away from the handlebars to get rid of numb&tingling hands. The seat comfort was also very good, even compared to the Multi. My only concern was the lack of wind protection with the original small screen, but I get the impression that the taller one you have fitted is working quite well? (Is it the same as on the Adventure?) . Seriously considering to trade the Multi for an SMT next spring......

      Hi, firstly, thanks for watching. The large screen is from the adventure ( but has its own code ( please look at my video th-cam.com/video/ZPRn3QcllC8/w-d-xo.html the codes are in the description)) The screen require the centre plastic part to fit the SMT ( that comes with the screen) Wind protection is good for me, but taller riders may want to install one of those small add on screens to deflect more wind. ( I am short so doesn't effect me) Yes, I have played about a bit with the suspension, and I have it set quite well for solo riding now. Also make sure tire pressures are set properly, as there were totally wrong from the dealer on my bike. Please look at my SMT videos for more on what the bike is about and all the mods I have carried out. th-cam.com/play/PLyut6JZFGUHR-U8yAZ09TolrPMkXGJ_X_.html

    Better off with a moped lol Love my SMT too much, its getting too many miles on it!! I would add that they are super comfy, very punchy, beautiful to look at, incredibly cool to own, light to move about and easy to manavouer at low speeds and so much fun! My negs would be the white panels dont match (personal), the battery cover scratches too easy (pad on way) and finally wheels are sod to keep clean! Keep tour content coming Dean and ride safe

      @Dean-does-Stuff-81  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Cdmpf well, the bike kicks up the road crap all over it's self. Just like any motor bike does I suppose. But the smt seems to get covered in all the crap that sprays off the tires. Up the back under the seat (so that's fine) and the front gets covered in crap due to the lack of a proper front mud guard. (KTM do sell one from the power parts list)

      It’s been a known issue for the 890 motor. On cold start the motor only fires on one cylinder. Have to start it a couple times until both cylinders fire. 2023 Norden 901, dealership told me they all do it KTM hasn’t found a fix yet

    • @Dean-does-Stuff-81

      @@ehiggins7476 ok, well, the smt doesn't suffer from that. I have had zero issues in 10,000 k. No cold start issues. As I say. The smt doesn't share the exact same engine as the one you are talking about. There has been many updates to the 890. The 990 will be better still.

      Yes, it happens with higher octane gas (In eu for. example the "98"). I fueled once with the 98 and at cold the bike was starting with only one cylinder and stalling, then it was starting OK. After refueling with "95" everything came back to normal and didn`t happened since. Besides this excellent bike. I own the 2023 model with 11kkm driven.

      My record is 386 km but I didn`t ran dry. I think 400 is possible and it was normal ride with two other friends so the bike consumes very reasonable amount of gas. Most of my trips the BC shows 3.9L/100km and average speed ~66-69km/h.
