About light sets blending in photoshop: afaik the only way to get an accurate blending of layers, so the final composite isn't overly bright, is using Linear Dodge (Add) in 32-bit mode. That way there's enough information to fit all the blended colours. The main drawback of doing it like this (at least in Photoshop) is not being able to do colour correction properly, as photoshop is ill-equipped for working with hdr images (which 32-bit depth essentially is).
So you'd have to get all your layers in PS project, convert the document to 32bit without flattening, set blending modes to Linear Dodge (Add), do the masking where needed, and them make a smart object from these layers and convert the document back to 8bit without flattening. Yeah, It's a bit convoluted, but that's the cost of accurate light blending I guess. I did a speedart where I showed this technique: th-cam.com/video/kgekSr7mUO0/w-d-xo.html , hopefully it'll help to get my message across.

I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle though lol
I guess it would depend on personal preference: you can do blending in 8bit at the cost of poor colour accuracy, or do it in 32 bit at the cost of a bit degraded convenience and large project file size.

I feel like my biggest failing in trying to do renders is the editing side of things. I have 0 artistic background so whenever people tell me i need to look into editing or things like that I just sort of stare back at them. Is there a chance we could ever see an editing video of your process from start to finish?
