A marching French Horn is the Bb side of double French Horn and it is played with a French Horn mouthpiece. This is Mellophone which is pitched in F and is played with a trumpet mouthpiece. Yamaha make both Marching French Horns and Mellophones and if you look at their website you will find out more. I own a Yamaha marching French Horn which I purchased to play swing/jazz and it sounds very different to a Mellophone.

Glendon Gross mellophones are usually in the key of F but occasionally they can also be in the key in Eb
