    If there were two people alive today who could do a live, hour-long show even half as good as this, the world would be a better place.RIP both of them.XX

    Norman wisdom was the greatest comedian that ever lived no one could ever touch him. British comedians were and always are the best so sadly missed. Thank you fir these wonderful memories. My boyfriend and I used to go to the sit in his parent parlour with all his family watching this. They were the only ones with s TV. You could hear a pin drop and the laughter was side splitting. 💞💖

    I'm just in awe over the multiple talents of Sir Norman Wisdom, who passed away in 2010 at the ripe age of 95. Thanks 4 uploading this, displaying the talents of both Sirs Norman & Bruce Forsythe, who passed away this year at the age of 89. They reflect on this show as well. This show from the London Palladium is a great gem!! God bless them both & RIP to Bruce & Norman. A simple thank you doesn't do it justice, but thanks anyway.

    I had the pleasure of writing to these two great men, and received two kind letters back from them. Bruce sent me a lovely signed photo and a great warm letter. Norman wrote, in his own hand writing to me. These two letters I have locked away in my study, as I treasure them. They knew how to respect and treat their fans.

    They carried a whole hour long live show, that's incredible, 5 minutes of TV is a very long time to fill but that depth of choreography sheesh.. kudos to two masters of their trade

    This was an amazing show. No one but Normal Wisdom could do such an act. A full night at the Palladium with just him and Bruce who was the compare. Thats commitment and awesome talent. Plus a fitness level thats off the chart. A whole hour show at Norman Wisdom pace. No one comes close these days.

    Remember seeing this live back in 1961. I didn't know anything about the politics of the situation, but suddenly realised that there weren't any other guests and that Norman and Bruce were doing the whole show. I recall laughing a lot and marvelling at their stamina as the show progressed. Particularly the multi instrument sequence. Wouldn't happen today of course. Everything would be recorded and edited. You're watching real talent here. Honed from years of treading the boards. Not some five-minute product from a tv talent show

    • @davidwhyberd7612
      @davidwhyberd7612 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bruce was also a fine pianist and singer. He was also a terrific tap dancer.
      Norman, apart from being a multi instrumentalist was a fine singer and composed some outstanding songs. " Beware" is simply superlative.
      For them to entertain an audience with such a variety of musical and sheer comic talent is exceptional. I have seen it several times. The energy that Norman had with the instruments was terrific. He then showed what an outstanding drummer he was. He must have been very fit. He was 46 and Bruce was 35. Those were the days when very talented entertainers were multi talented. My uncle was a ventriloquist, a magician and a member of the Magic Circle; an impressionist; sang and played ukelele and was a comedy scriptwriter. For the bookings to keep coming in, you had to be really good. Now it is a comedian with a microphone in a stadium, making millions.

      Bruce was 33 and Norman was 46. Norman, playing all the instruments and drumming as well. He was beginning to feel the pace then. His drumming was really outstanding. Bruce was running on and off the stage with the next instrument. They worked very hard together and this show has become famous. Bruce could have tap danced. He was a superb dancer and a fine pianist. Bruce's ashes are placed underneath the stage of the Palladium, which is very fitting. With Norman, Bruce and Ken Dodd no longer with us, the age of the truly great entertainers has gone.

    That's the greatest stage show I've ever seen in my life, why is this not huge talking point still, there should be more documentaries about that night.
    They rinced every single joke possible in that performance, and it still stands strong to this day.
    My word what a great double act they made and my word is Norman not the most talented man that ever lived.
    I mean he was a self toaght architect, a champion boxer, a world class singer, a truly hilarious comedian right from the gut, a multi talented musician, a daring stunt man, a gifted dancer and probably the nicest man ever made.
    He never took a single day off from making people laugh.
    Yet we place people like Jack Whitehall and Russell Howard in top 20 comedians of all time rather then him.
    Let's face it those kids aren't fit to shine his boots, and it's a disgrace he's not in the top 10 at least.

    Norman was 13 years older then bruce, but here at the age of 46, still has jet black hair. Bruce was already silver haired at just 33, and looks older then norman. But its good to see, how they could both ran around when they were younger.

      Bruce made it to 89 and Norman to 95. Television does not seem the same without Bruce. I will never forget The Generation Game and Play Your Cards Right. His guest presenter performances on Have I Got News For You were hilarious. The first one was the best. Play Your Iraqi Cards Right was the funniest. Paul Merton just loved it.

I am looking for a print with good sound and preferably with the complete opening, currently missing from the show. Any ideas where I might find it, please?

    I liked Norman in his movies when I was a child and that is what his comedy was; childish. He didn't appeal to me as an adult as his comedy was too stupid to be funny. Slapstick is really not funny but I take my hat off to him for what he achieved and his ability with musical instruments although he couldn't sing very well and his acting was equally as bad. However, millions of people loved him so he must have been doing something right. Well done Norman.

    • @davidwhyberd7612
      @davidwhyberd7612 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What this showed was the exceptional musical talent that Norman had. He was also a fine songwriter and "Beware" is truly outstanding. Bruce left the instruments to him, but could have had a break and showed his superb tap dancing.
