For DA roses, Lady Emma and Gentle Hermione have the best fragrance. Desdemona and Lady of Shallot, Olivia Rose Austin have the best health. For non-DA roses, Life of the Party and Lavender Crush have the best fragrance. Marco Polo and Queen of Elegance are the healthiest.
This one is in its 3rd year, about 3 feet tall. But that's only because it's in a bad location, the other younger violet's pride on the other side is 6+ feet tall
6 feet! Whoa! I have an open, east facing spot that I was hoping to plant 3 VP’s into sort of an informal hedge this fall, but maybe not if it can get that huge. My other candidate for that area is Plum Perfect, but I was leaning towards VP because of the fragrance. Are there any other mauves that would lend themselves to my situation that you know of? I have Angel face in another part of my yard and I love it, but the foliage gets so awful looking by this time of year that I have sort of ruled that out as well.
@@kellic8665 Only Love Song fits the bill but no fragrance. Don't worry about too much about it height, I believe my VP got 6 feet because it's grafted onto fortuniana rootstock, this rootstock has been known to make everything grow bigger. You can also control its size easily.

I definitely don’t mind having to prune a bit for size control - I have a similar situation happening with my DA Mary Rose. Website says it grows 4x4, but I only planted last fall and it is already taller than me and keeps trying to get tangled in the vines from a hanging basket I have way above and to the side of it 🤷♀️

Olivia Rose Austin for sure, Roald Dahl also, but even then the blooms will fry after one hot day, summer here is around 95-100 degree F

i just started using Rose Tone for this year and use alaskan fish fertilizer for foliar spray
