    Quick question:
Can you use this tool purely to measure seated depth of a primer seater with another tool?
I need a gage and would love to get a second hand tool at the same time.

Put the primer to the freakin bottom and done. Whatever primer installer does that then great. Harmonics being tuned are 10 fold more important than primer at bottm or square etc.

If you knew about barrel harmonics then you would know part of getting consistent barrel harmonics shot to shot is also by eliminating as many variables as possible. Even though you may think one or two small things don't matter multiple things combined do. And sometimes it's about doing what makes you feel better about your work you turn out which that confidence does a lot on the bench

to each their own, but the primer seating depth does make a differene even if its a small one. But yah gettin the right node through powder charge and seating depth should be enough for 99% of shooters out there. This is more for fclass type shooters

@@keokio7 absolutely it makes a difference. There is a saying in primer seating that goes flush is not enough and that is true, u need to be below flush against with 0.003" crush on the primer per manufacturer specs. Above all seating depth in your process will effect your barrel harmonics the most and like you said for a Hunter powder charge with a suggested col may be fine but for benchrest guys like myself or f class guys we strive on making everything straight, correct, and the same because it shows on paper at 1000yds

@@user-un5my5bw4j didn't know manufacturers spec recommended some crush, thats interesting. You know any good budget primer seating tools to use that allows for some crush because most out there are just seating to flush. There is a $600 priming tool that does this but i aint paying $600 for a primer

Seems like a very nice tool but at the same time seems pretty time consuming for just seating primers

Hey Pipe Gang, seating primers goes pretty quick once you get the motions down. For our customers, the increased precision, and mobility, is worth it.

It depends on what you are looking for. If you are loading .223 for an IPSC match, it's overkill and you're better off just using the priming mechanism of your turret press. You wouldn't see the difference on the targets anyway. But if you are loading for 1000 yards, you definitely see it on the target.

You get really good at it, and this isn't a race.
