As has already been mentioned, the first uniformed constable's appearance (blue line badge aside) is an absolute disgrace. In recent years, I have noticed that a lot of police officers are either scruffy, caked in obscene amounts of makeup (in the case of female constables) or wear badges and emblems that represent their own personal feelings or beliefs. Have British police officers forgotten what the word smart means or how the wear their uniform correctly? It seems they have.
And what do they do, for example when faced with an armed robber about to assault an elderly person in front of them on the way home? Why don't you think before commenting?

As a retired UK police officer of some 17 years…. How the hell have policing standards dropped so low. The first officer, no ID shown, no respect or courtesy. The second officer, his hair length is a health and safety issue. They do not deserve the respect of the public.

I am also a former police officer and agree with everything you have said I was trying to wear the uniform and would often be pulling my boots in the locker room prior to going on patrol. Failed to step in straight away to stop an assault in progress in his presence (that invasion of personal space in that manner was assault). As has already been mentioned, the first uniformed constable's appearance (blue line badge aside) is an absolute disgrace. In recent years, I have noticed that a lot of police officers are either scruffy, caked in obscene amounts of makeup (in the case of female constables) or wear badges and emblems that represent their own personal feelings or beliefs. Have British police officers forgotten what the word smart means or how the wear their uniform correctly? It seems they have.
