In all my years of watching NL, i have had moments of annoyance.
But nothing hath made me angrier than when he rolled his chance to level up his beaver away, then subsequently saying that he was searching for a beaver.

@@TheFinn70 I think he knows that. I also think he didn't actually look at the shop, he just pointed his eyes in the direction of it and glazed over it while chatting and pressed roll.

I’ve been hard at work getting my buddies into this game. Best release of 2021 no cap
I'm really enjoying the update. My first 10 win run was with a level 3 leopard and crocodile and it blew through everyone. Those turkey and fly builds can't handle taking 50+ damage before the fight starts.
I'm not a fan of how they changed the Hurt keyword. Camels, blowfish, gorilla and the others were all pretty niche to begin with, but now they don't even work with melon armour.

Yeah I think (though who knows, I'm no SAP master) it especially hurth the gorilla too. The others hurts units are usually more early games and thus garlic will work for them for a while (though yeah that nerf still impact them). But with gorilla, that'll be worst I think.Even with melon armor allowing it to get a coconut shield immediatly after the armor is gone, I barely ever saw one played. When Gorillas get offered, people usually either want lvl 6 that help with scaling or that works well with their build. Or they already have a strong squad of units with no room for a unit like a gorilla. It just comes too late and would take you too long to give him good enough stat to make good use of his ability. Now, that trick is gone so I have to admit I wonder if gorilla will have much plays at all.
I think it ruins melon armor on hurt units in the early game. In the late game, units very often have higher than 20 attack which will do damage past melon armor. I think you've always needed to be able to scale a gorrilla quickly, or any hurt unit for that matter, to make it viable late game so this really doesn't change much imo. Honestly I'm down for a nerf to camel/kangaroo anyways.
It makes gorilla an even shittier unit than before, but I think rolling garlic armor on hurt units was always the strategy before, and it did feel a little weird that it worked when you didn’t actually, yknow, get hurt

Why are leavers bad? Sometimes I have just absolutely abysmal luck and I don't want to commit to a run with no hope... It's not often, but I figured that leaving was a mechanic specifically to make these dud runs sting less. It's not like these are live matches right? Is it just because leavers bias the game to be more challenging by over-representing meta builds in the pool?
@@mookosh Part of the game is doing what is necessary. If you play like NL and are stubborn you'll definitely have issues though.

I'm sure alot of people already knew but I wanted to try this new anti leave technology and it was quite funny, after abandoning so many games it force you to complete one full game with a dunce hat on all your animals that says abandoner. really funny.
Honestly the only misplay that stood out to me was the beaver but honestly that one was just funny imo
Special shoutout to the squad that ended his first run: the huuuge pieces. Probably one of the best squad names out there.
Have to say, I hope he does some versus, even if it's some public lobbies (though I admit, they usually only end up half full since too many people quit annoyingly), though with twitch I'm sure setting up lobbies won't be hard. Because personally, I'm having a lot of fun with versus. Having 6 lives and no ways for people to try hard restart runs until they get an op start allows you to avoid the arena problem of often running into really optimized squads. Though I'm sure a healthy mix of both modes would be welcomed.
Yes, i also like that the games are potentially longer since you have more lives, and if you are left in a last 1v1 you can try and counter your opponents build unlike in arena
I really love versus, won my first match there right away. What really pisses me off is that there's zero reward for it. I mean I fucked up 7 other players through rounds and rounds of constant optimation and I get nothing?
@@americantoastman7296 actually,pretty sure you get points, would need to check to be sure but I've won some and I think I gained points but it doesn't show zt the end of the versus
Dodo on the worm was a mistake. You don’t need 30+ attack and then have single digit attack to follow

First versus game I played, got 1st. I had an annoying summoning build by the end of it. Tiger, Turkey(Lvl2,Steak), Whale(Lvl2,Melon), Spider(Lvl2), Deer(Lvl2,Steak)
Final Match: Spider turned into a Sheep, which summoned 2 Rams. Inside the whale, the spider turned into a sheep AGAIN and summoned 2 Rams again, with +12 ATK and HP each time. It was so broken, poor guy didn't even get to my last 2 units. (He was using butterfly and strong unit build)

It's good they work on anti-leaver tech cause this game has 0 reason to leave immediately. usually you can make any shop work.
Yeah but I disagree with the implementation. Instead of penalizing leaving (especially with just legit unfair gameplay, great way to turn people off of playing), the game should incentivize not leaving.

I sometimes see a dog with stats like 40/40 but only when its absolutely possible for any animal to have these stats. Which isnt very broken if you ask me
@@davekachel Its scaling outpaces everything early and many things late, its trigger synergizes with a large number of builds, and the same trigger event can work on multiple dogs simultaneously.
Question: Why does leaving matter if the fights are auto and just come out of the pool of players at that turn#. Doesn't it just pull the leaver's party out of the available fights? I don't understand
If you reroll your run until you have great first shops, it gives you an advantage compared to an average person on the same turn#. A lot of people abandoning at round 1 or 2 becomes unfair for the non-leavers.

Otherwise you can leave without leaving - sell all but one pet and fight. You'll basically shop reset.. it just takes a minute.
You can sell all animals and end turn. There's nothing stopping you. It's an auto-loss
yeah but if you fight it out while tanking, you add some easy teams for other people to face to balance out the op shops you get

it hurts dodo, tiger, leopard strats which ends up doing 20 damage 8 times before the battle even begins. got a couple 10 wins that way just buying and rolling food the last 3 or 4 battles

Dude he's overvalueing the dog SO much. Or well not the dog, rather its effect. Spending countless turns and large amounts of money buying and selling units, not developing his board at all, only for some random +1 buffs on a lvl 1 unit. Its really really bad.
Yeah dog is maybe the worst tier 2 unit, unless you get it to level 2 immediately its effect gets out scaled by just about everything, egg just can't learn
You would've actually won the round at 3:10 if only you bought the pufferfish before leveling up the fish to get all the buffs. 🙃
I still don't get why he buys mosquito over something like a cricket. It just seems unreliable with low value in stats and a really mediocre upgrade on level up. It rarely snipes a unit and the one damage often makes no difference at all.

PS: I think the balancing is pretty bad. Some units are really good, others are pretty much unusuable, even in teams with synergies.

Since you never fight actual opponents in arena, Im starting to think there might be some issue with the "randomness" again. Has been known to happen.

If you leave they'll match with people 5 rounds ahead of you? I'm not sure it'll have the intended consequence -- sounds like a reward / fun challenge
What kind of reward? Imagine rolling in with a 2/3 fish and two 2/2 pigs, while your opponent comes in with a 6/6 worm, a 6/7 fish, a 3/5 blowfish, a 5/5 dodo, and a 5/6 goose
Maybe even just a 11/16 dog, everything behind it doesn't even matter

Idk about leaver penalty UNLESS they make it so you're playing against LIVE players. I'm so sick of playing against people with 50/50 animals at round 13/14 etc every game, let me play against unlucky players too, until they make the matchmaking live theirs almost 0 reason not to leave early games for a near perfect team.
