- we get asked this question every year, we have a few videos posted, this is the first time I’ve added someone else’s video, showing how fierce stallions, and her dynamics can be in the wild. This is only an example.
But one that we are sure, happens here, and the herd surrounding us, while we are out there, we can hear the stallions fighting
not our video! googled: wild horses
Can you imagine having to fight for the life of your baby immediately after giving birth? Thank you for all you are doing for these horses.
That was my feeling when I first saw that clip years ago! It's not all flowers and roses in the wild.
That video is a famous video that was posted a long time ago. If you look into the video those stallions were fighting because the bay stallion came in to try and steal the other stallions mares. They weren’t trying to hurt the foal. However, the mare was in fact being protective over the foal even though the stallion wasn’t trying to hurt them.
That's why Father's are needed!

You all do a great job saving the foals!
This was a great video. The mama was sure doing a good job protecting her baby. I enjoyed seeing them as a herd. Thank you!!
thank you for keeping a close eye on the herd and all the babies.
Incredibly scary watching those stallions fight so close to the foal. A lot of people romanticize wild horses, but they sure do deal with a lot of harsh and dangerous situations. Thank you for stepping in and saving the foals whenever you can. ♥
Thank you for saving this cute little guy.
That mare in the video was kicking arse, literally, for her foal. Imagine a first time mother having to deal with the same circumstances, or a mother who had a particularly hard labor? She wouldn’t have a chance at protecting the baby.
Yes she was gonna save her baby no matter what it took, great mother. I thought it was crazy how those stallions took her full force kicks like it was nothing, and kept beating each other up at the same time, very tough animals. She certainly wasn't pulling any punches.
@@pumpkinhead8593 that's why they jokingly refer to castration for stallions as "brain surgery"!
Men too.

Please, please 🙏 😢 make sure you get them foals thank you so much for caring for theses beautiful animals ❤️ love from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️ 😊
Foal trying to sit like he’s folding origami 🥲❤️
This foal is so gorgeous ❤
Y'all are the best, thank you for saving them
I love watching Jasper appear every now and then. He is so interested in everything going on. Great dog!
I wanna snatch that baby up he so gorgeous and sweet. Glad you all found him.
That mare was a fighter! I would love to own her!! She was sure laying the hooves to those stallions!
Yes indeed she was. She was saying "Don't mess with my Baby" Way to go Mama👍👏😀
Thank you for this! I was curious as well. Gorgeous little foal there, love his eyes! 🐎
So admire the passion and saving/training you do for these babies! Love ur videos! ❤️
So they can sell and make money off them after they're grown. Fines and jail for it in Nevada for stealing BLM horses.
I had seen that video with the momma fighting for her foal years ago. I remember my heart was in my throat.😅 I've sent that to so many horse friends, who have the same reaction. But, thank you for the explanation. I'm in the U.S. and adopted a Mustang mare 15yrs ago, when she was a 2yo. Just knowing how mares protect their foals, I didn't realize so many would be left behind. I do have a friend in Oregon who took care of quite a few Mustang foals, but I thought it was because of the roundups. When people think it's so romantic too see the wild horses, in reality nature can be brutal. Thank you for what you do!❤
Wow I never knew horse would react like this with a new born foal, very educational.
Isn't life all around difficult enough without ticks? God, I HATE ticks! Thanks for your patient video explaining what the horses and other critters are up against.
Wow that was hard for me to watch Candice, I don’t think you and Jordan know just how special and a huge blessing you both are for what you’ve done for these beautiful little babies, thank you so very much for what you do, you definitely need a drone it will certainly help speed up any rescues, is it possible for you to set up a go fund me for this purpose guys?, and ticks l have a phobia of them, nasty little things, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
He really is a handsome wee lad. Hes going to be a BEAUTY as an adult. ❤❤❤
Your observation will help people to understand what is life for a horse in the wild.❤😊😊😊😊
GOSH I CANT HARDLY WATCH FOR FEAR THE BABY WILL GET HURT. THANKS FOR HELPING THEM.
Thank you for answering that! And I'm so glad you're around to provide protection and a home for the babies that are separated from their herd!
Thanks! Love watching your videos and seeing the passion you have for horses & other wildlife ❤
Thank you, and bless you for helping the foals. You are angels. Makes me cry. I wish I had the money to help you. I hate the ticks.
I've seen this footage before. Momma did everything in her power to protect her baby. Such an amazing video I love what u guys do. Thanks for sharing with us
Thank you for loving the equine of your area! They all deserve a chance
Omg that is heartbreaking
Well, I have CLD, I know that feeling! Let alone fighting for youth, this was a wake up on my 59 years! I’ve always been outdoors, w/ animals, of course humans! It’s toughest being around humanity that doesn’t care, so ty so much for all you do! You’re heroes, rockstars! Xoxo
Thank you for all that you do❤God Bless you all❤🙏🏼✝️🕊
Thanks for that information! I had wondered why but glad to hear the real story instead of guessing.
Sometimes its just scatty mothers who dont bond with their foals and sort of 'forget' they have them, I've seen that too. It doesn't take much to distract some mares or push them off the foal. I think there is a crucial timeframe when the new bond can be broken.
Thanks for being an advocate for these babies❤
This lil one is very cute!
Thanks guys for all your doing !!
what you guys do for these wild horses is so cool!! I love your videos and there is always so much information!! Keep up the amazing work!!
Thanks for the education and thanks for saving him!!!!
What an awesome couple ❤
Great job keep it up please
Thank you very much for all you do
You guys are awesome, angels to these little ones.
Thank You for explaining more of the problems of wild horse herds...so glad the babies find yòu both*♡♡*
Just wondering if a drone would help in seeing them?
Thanks!
Sweet baby foal
I've heard also during times when a new stallion take a heard he will also attack foals that are not his. also forcing the mare to move on with out the foal. I saw a video years ago on this. I was HORRIFIED seeing the stallion attacking the foal...now remember this was some time ago I saw this. my memory may have missed a few key factors in the video but I still see this in my mind. Many Blessings to the ones you save and you both and all that help you. THANK YOU for being there. OMGosh I had to go look for it and I found it. the foal could not get up something wrong with its back legs..so sad..and during that time another band of wilds came in and they found the foal tried to encourage it and the stallion called Looking Glass move in and and well you get the picture.
You kids are amazing. Thank you for these videos 👍🏼💖
I think you're doing a fantastic job. ❤🇬🇧
Old School Human Kindness. Not just anyone can do this. Thank You. What variety of wild horses are these ?
A friend of mine does cross country endurance and knows people in Colorado and New Mexico with the very old Spanish ? Mustang genetics.
This was a great video!! I just started watching your channel awhile back & wondered why the foals were abandoned. Very informative!!
Thank you sir 🙏 😢❤
I love your videos with foals!
: )
just found your channel ..just wonderful and so heartwarming. Am learning so much about horses now. so funny when that foal at the very end does a couple of knee dips before gracefully lowering to the ground! nice camera view on that, too! also, with the cc on it says sometimes "music" but all that is sounding behind the narrative is dog barks lololol
More domesticated mares occasionally reject /refuse their foals, as well. Abandoned or rejected foals aren’t terribly unusual, for many reasons.
Would the drought last year be a reason for fewer foals this year? Mares not holding pregnancies?
Bloody stallions...shows how much a mare has to go through to keep her foal. Heartland never prepared this Kiwi for that
Thank you for this. How is this little guy doing?
I am sure predators get a lot of the foals. It's sad but it's also solid proof that wild horses never have to be culled.
I'll have to watch the rest later! Too upsetting to watch! WOW!! Who knew? Not me!!!❤️🐎❤️😳😳😳
I had an Arabian mare that rejected her first foal. One of the books I read said that in the old days when the mares lived in the tent with the owner that when the mare foaled they took the foal off the mare and fed them camels milk. It freed the mare up for riding without the hassle of the foal.
Did you find a name for this little doll baby yet? How about "Dusty Blazer"? Dusty for his coloring. And blazer for his beautiful white markings on his face and his four white socks. He is exceptionally beautiful. Hope you keep him. Would love to watch his growth across the weeks and months. His personality is precious.
Foal is really pretty!
What about twins? Sometimes when one of our cows has twins, the mother will reject one.
Horses rarely have twins and can die if they do. On the rare occasions the mare and foals both survive, yes, they can reject one.
That mama kick but to protect her baby.😂😂
How do you not get emotional about them and not want to keep them all. I know I would want to keep them all
I enjoy hearing when Jordan talks in the videos but he is often hard to hear. Is it possible to outfit him with a microphone?
..that would be so helpful, because it is really interesting what he has to say, but is almost not heard...
Ticks are such a menace! A scourge on livestock! I wish we could go poof and they’re gone! Thank you for all you do!❤️🐎
That mare is getting kicks in!
Do you happen to use a drone for looking for them? I can’t imagine having to ride over all of your property looking on a regular basis. This little guy is so handsome with his 4 white socks!
Except for Ranger, all three of the other foals are similar coloring-from the same stallion?
In Alberta, so many foals are killed by predators. It is pretty sad; not many survive to 3 years old.
There would seem to be an element of natural selection in play as to foal abandonment.
Can you use Drones to help find abandoned foals quicker? I hope so.
Poor mama it's do sad she's going through this crap but it's real .
It’s a long way down to the ground from up here. It’s scary to lay down
Common in herds where a New Stallion has taken over. Especially if the foal is a colt of the prior stallion. The new stallion wants to eliminate future competition from old Stallion. Not common if is a Filly born.
Glad y'all can save them!! Do you have to be permitted or registered with the government to rescue them??
Stallions are fighting over the mare, and the mare is warding off the stallions from her foal. Talk about drama.
I think my abandoned foal went through this ! Those selfish bastards ! There is a certain amount of time to feed this baby ! This might explain why she is afraid of other horses. She was brought to me May 17, 24 we figure she was born May 1-10th? She was so weak when I got her. ❤ she is now 3 1/2 months old and doing great! And just had her first trim . Yes we’re a little late but at least her feet are done !
What do you do with the foals once they gain back their health? Are they returned back into the wild?
I just asked about this yesterday...I always forget I can look & see if u have it in other videos.
They have sagebrush in bc?
♥️♥️♥️
Thanks for explaining. Its hard to watch, though.
How does BC, Canada manage the wild herds in your area? I think in the Western US they are rounded up for auction.
This/these herds are on private lands.
Tick borne relapsing fever is present in the area, be careful. Apparently it might cause hirses to abort
Mares was trying her best to protect her!
It’s illegal in my country to take the foals. Point being is that the mares nearly always return to collect their foals.
Poor Mama’ she was kicking some ass
Yall name him STORM!!!
What state is this in please? So they have wild horses on public land? No local state rangers or some such gvt service that manages wild horses on public land? Tx for your work and video - never knew about this.
The BLM manages them but has a habit of rounding them up and leaving them penned for life because they say there isnt enough land and keep wanting cattle grazing
Also I think it isnt a state, it’s Canada so idk up there
Really hard to watch….but thank you for the facts.😟
LOVE YOU GUYS, BUT WE CANT HEAR WHATS BEING SAID...HE NEEDS A MIC💋
I’m worried about him eating.
I’m new to your channel, can you say what state you are in?
BC
What ? No comments on the father stallion goin face to face with the aggressive rival ?
Did this one survive?
Yes Smokey survived. He was rehomed a couple of months ago.
I realize you're in Canada, I'm in the states, I was just curious though, I thought doing something like this would be illegal?
Umbilical Hernias have to be handled ASAP. Not past 1 -2 years. My mare had one . And her hernia is sealed, but she’ll never be able to foal. It’s not safe . So she babies this little Savannah Rose 🌹
This person needs to intercede to save the foal.
Did you name the foal? What is its gender?
