It's very comforting coming back to this after having studied theory and arranging for a few years and actually being able to understand what's going on here. I saw this video when you first posted it and I had ZERO idea what was going on haha

Isn’t beat 4 of 19 supposed to be a Concert D in the bari part?

This is simply AMAZING!!!! I'm learning so much by studying this analysis. Quick Question: in measure 4 on the "and of 4" you have written a 4 note chord instead of a 5 note chord. What two instruments are playing the same note?

That's a good question....I'm not really sure, because I took the chart out of the library and don't own it. Glad you are enjoying it!

I literally just played this chart tonight, (probably played it a hundred times), and was wondering if Thad does the "drop 2" in his sax soli writing. I never really looked into until tonight. The answer is "yes"!

Thank you for this - just curious about the editorial decision to not set the transcription in a key signature?

I went back and forth on that. With so many accidentals and so much chromaticism, it seemed easiest for teaching purposes to just keep writing accidentals in so the students could more easily analyze what was going on without having to keep looking back to previous accidentals.
