One thing I always like to say is that an anatomical drawing should look good at every stage. I.e., if your sketches always look bad but you use fancy details to make it look better then there's something fundamentally wrong with your drawing. If the sketch looks better than the finished piece you don't have a clear understanding of technique and details.
Having a good understanding of each stage of anatomy drawings is so important.

I'm baffled at how every single video you make is bursting with so much valuable information. For most great channels maybe 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 videos will be of value, but every single video you post is like a new revelation for me. My favorites section is getting too full. So grateful that you make these videos!

There is a lot of "scientific" information going around internet that naively we think is the main way to learn how to do beautiful art, anatomy, proportions, perspective, and so on. But the choice of priorities is almost more important than all that I said before, and is STUNNING how It "saves" the work that we are on.
It's good to find that you talk about those things Kenzo, sometimes we forget that we are drawing, that we are trying to "convince" of something going on in the canvas

The more I watch your videos the more I realize you've become some like Bob Ross to me. I liked watching his show, not only to learn, but to become motivated. When I become stuck on something and feel frustrated, your kind words about the learning process will circle in my mind and I'll feel better. Thank you.

this is really helpful in showing the general process of how you should think because even if you know this pattern it's very easy to just go too fast or jumping over sections to get to the end result faster and it just not looking that great by the end because you rushed it.
it happens to me constantly because i feel either lazy about going back to fix something or i feel like i can't do it better and i should just work with what i've already established wether i'm content with it or not.

In my opinion, the colors you use are appealing to the eye. They have a nice temperature balance. They remind me of Mayko's pastel but almost like 2.0 in a digital format! :) When are you ready as a student to leave grayscale and move onto colors?

As an artist myself I do every kind of painting cos it pays my rent. So if you've got a composition of a tropical beach, you don't need to bother with much if any detail. Easy ! Now if you've got a crowd scene, you have to put in detail. If you're painting a vehicle, maybe a traction engine, or a train. Then you've got to put in details. So really it depends on what your subject is ! Just painting a single nude figure is a piece of cake. ! I don't need numbers, I just do it !
Kind regards - Chris in Thailand

    • @lovelifedrawing
