This was a critically important video for me as it provided clarification for me on how to not let my right side come forward after impact. I could perform every element of this swing perfectly until I released the club, at this point I could not prevent my right shoulder from taking over. I focused on stillness and it corrected itself within a single range session. It felt really funny at first to hold back my right side back but once I watched that crisp beautiful ball flight become more and more consistent it all became very clear. I did have to begin by letting go of the club but after about 20 swings I was able to learn to get through the ball without rotating my shoulders through the ball. I would recommend bookmarking this video because I have returned to it for review more than once.
You are so fortunate to be able to achieve it within one range session.I have been working on keeping the shoulders closed for about five months and still struggle. The fairway woods are the worst. I was a member of Jim’s academy and I believe in the system and am sticking with it. I am just slow at being able to implement it. Jim is great and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is serious about learning this method.
i suspect this is one if the most subtlety important vids in your collection, and one that repeated viewing and absorption will create tremendous benefits
Excellent video Jim!! I started using your swing method about 4 months ago. I have struggled some with the right side coming forward in the downswing. I have focused on keeping my right hip back, which may cause me to keep my right shoulder back. When I do keep the right hip back, I hit the ball more solid and with a draw. I wasn't sure if keeping the right hip back does the same with the shoulder because I haven't taken videos of my swing or thought about the right shoulder (which I will now). If it does the same, maybe someone could benefit from that thought as well, just wanted to share. I had taken several years off from golf after back surgery years ago, it was just too painful to play. Now, I have no pain using your swing methods and am playing the best golf of my life. Thanks for all of your videos and instructions!! I am more confident with my swing and I enjoy golf more than ever before!!
Patience, stillness & trust , handicap dropped to a 25 today. The driver is improving. The last 4 rounds have been improved shot an 88 in a tournament net 63. Thank you for what you do .
Your videos have taken a lot of pressure off of my low back. I have hurt my back several times rotating through the ball. The inside to out swing and staying still is a blessing from above. Thanks for the wonderful instruction. Best golf videos I’ve seen ✝️
I love setting up like this, it definitely works. But that gray area he's talking about is the release of the right hand. That's how both hands can turn the corner of the swing. I think the blending of this instruction and the release action of Mike Malaska is the ultimate golf swing, at least it has been for me.
I finally see how to maintain my position through the swing. I was turning my back shoulder as per traditional swing that does not work for this method, as I couldn't figure out why I was always hitting a fade. Thank You! Going to practice this tomorrow.
I needed to see this older video again...because, it is at this point, where I get a little ahead of myself. Staying quiet throughout impact is KEY !!! Stay still my friends...as Jim would say..
Worked! I originally looked for videos on how to hit inside out... Jim is by far the best explanation. If u take this concept out on the range and stay with it for a few rounds, u too will see big time improvement! If u don' want to follow Jim's entire philosophy, at least listen to his insistent of STILLNESS and SWING with left side dominant. The right shoulder wanting to turn is how u sliced everything. Thank you JIM!
Jim, I subscribed to your channel a while back and have been jumping back and forth between your swing and the conventional swing. After rewatching a few of your videos, I have decided to stick with your style. Just this morning I hit quite a few balls in the yard and I found if I let my left side dominate and swing without "hitting" at the ball and swing smoothly keeping my trail shoulder back, I was consistently getting solid strikes with very good distance. I hope to continue my success on the course! Love not having to twist so much anymore because I am stiff in my lower back. (67 years old) THANKS!
Jim, as I was trying your method, which works great with shorter irons as you explained in one off your videos. The driver and longer irons were a problem. Then I realized that when I was setting my preset position that my right shoulder was higher than than my left, after I made an adjustment to lowering my right shoulder below my left and and my weight shifted as you state, I started hitting the great. So thanks, I love the system.
This is a valuable lesson no matter what kind of "theory" swing you have, because our right shoulder/side wants to dominate the swing in a very toxic way...where we steeply stomp onto the the ball and come in from the outside. The professional swing, even though they don't use this method most of them...they know that the right side must be kept in front of the chest for a LONG time. I can't do this with great consistency....that's why I'm giving Jim's method an honest try. Thanks for the lesson.
very focused video, there are times that I feel like I'll never get to the ball, especially with the driver and I see its the right side telling me that
The only problem with concept is that people are confronted with having wasted their life and in that sadness they will reject the truth because it is too much to bear. I am 52. I haven't played golf regularly in 8 years and haven't had a game in 4 years. I got down to 6 (but never played off it) but was probably a solid 9/10 HCP on an extremely tough Top 10 course. When I return (InshaAllah) I will be Consciously Competent and will become a member. Thanks Jim.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all these brilliant videos, it has changed everything I believed about golf for the better, only just started playing golf this year but this swing is the best way to quickly start playing good golf.
Am a person who likes to try everything, have a good short game, but always struggled with fairway woods and long irons, i just get by. Yes, sometimes i hit great shots and i usually don't have a clue about what I did right. I play to a handicap of 12. I have used your method "before watching" your videos for knock down shots and have always been amazed with the consistency. Never thought of trying it on full shots. So i tried it at a range and then in a round with friends. I did not close down the way your videos say as i had just seen a few videos till a few days back. What i achieved is :- Fairway wood 6 hit, all straight and true. In fact I was planning to replace my 3 wood, as i would end up hitting shots between a fade and a slice. My irons were consistent, distance remained the same as my habitual golf swing. I did miss hit a few as my swing thoughts were all confused on crucial shots. What i need to understand is How do i make it work with the DRIVER??? A driver what i have played or been taught unlike other irons is, weight 60% back foot, shoulders slanted in a way left over right and we hit up. I did try it in the game but the swing thoughts were so confused i did'nt entirely submit to it and hit high fades. Its just a beginning. Thanks for having the guts to go against everything that is taught and making it simple. Will revert over the next few weeks. AJ
Amarjot Bedi I’m glad to hear you’re getting good results. The key to hitting a driver isn’t trying to hit driver. We keep hitting driver is hitting more short irons that you create better ball flight with your short irons. You said your shots are mostly straight, that is not a good thing. That means that you are not closed enough and you will get exposed when you try and hit driver. Commit to this system and you understand everything very quickly.
This works I hold my back to the target and almost take my right hand off the club and I have seriously gained at least 20 yards. It’s amazing so easy too. It’s crazy.
Jim, a tip for your viewers for reaching the ball when in the closed position. I struggled with this a bit, extending to the ball, and staying closed, especially when using the driver. I discovered two things when trying to find a way in. 1. the swing path should not be as closed as the shoulder line, 2) and I got this from Moe Norman - a slightly tilted address when in the closed position gives you tons more room to reach the ball. The tilt seem to give you more extension, and with slightly tilted head towards right of the target provides a good angle in. By the way, would be interested to know your view of Moe Norman's swing as per Todd Graves' teaching.
obeone kenobe not the best advice, I suggest you simply move closer to the ball. When your shoulders are closed your trail shoulder is further away from the ball, thus your issue with reaching, but when you move closer to the ball you not only can reach it but you also create more power....good ball strikers stand closer to the ball than bad ball strikers. This tilt you speak is bad for your back and for balance.
@@jimvenetosgolf Jim, thanks for a swift reply. Yes, agree, the tilt does cause problems with neck/back, one reason I switched swing pattern. I have not tried moving closer to the ball, but I will do. Still interested in what you thoughts are on Moe? I have had amazing straight accurate shots with this swing, but as an older player it has not been good on the body.
This and your left side videos aren't just dropping strokes for me, as someone who struggled with over the top for 30 years, this allows me to set up to the ball with so much confidence the club will stay on path, and I'm hitting the ball further than ever by not over rotating the right side, thank you for your willingness to share these concepts, people pay instructors big money for this kind of improvement
Well explained… how I used to swing in the 60’s & 70’s till the establishment changed me to a right side push/ hit release… I’m going back to left side tennis backhand which as a former tennis player I consider your swing to be.
Fantastic and persuasive video. I just started with Jim's academy and yes driver is the hard part. This video helped clarify. I also practiced with video and tried to just hold the right hand grip with only 2 fingers and then the furyk double overlap grip just to get the right hand out of it. Really trying to set the club st the top as well. Got a lot of good drives going.
That is great. Be mindful to eliminate your right arm in the swing by following the pivot then grip process. This set up weakens your right side so that it can't overwhelm the swing.
Your swing paradigm is fantastic and your presentation skills are superb.........my only question........does the left arm only push the club back in the backswing or does it actively involve both arms. I'm unable to decern by watching the videos.
Love your stuff, Jim. You explain with a logic that I’m quite surprised the golfing establishment, which seems to be suffering - considering how many golf courses are closing - would be backing up your type of golf swing. Did that make sense? Conventional golf just like any kind of conventional thought, has seen its time. A new paradigm is moving in and they - the establishment - is fighting tooth and nail against it.
I keep coming back to these videos. There was something there that I was missing and my ball was not going in the right direction nor with any power. The key from this video is to get your grip right every time. The club was just too much in my fingers. Also the idea of staying in the shot (Staying Still) is really important to the ball is launched. This leads to a very consistent shot. During the quarantine I continually go to my basement and hit a few balls cold. The funny thing is that I cannot break this now that I have it. I have it down cold with my PW and now up to 7 iron. Once I started staying in the shot the consistency with slightly longer irons showed up. I am really looking forward to taking this to the driving range in order to let me see ball flight. Thanks Jim for the great videos. Maybe one on the proper grip when you have a moment.

From the videos I've seen so far, I really like the way you communicate your message! I've been working with another golf instructor Shawn Clement for awhile and besides him the only other books I've used was Harvey Penick and Bobby Jones...That said there are many ways to swing a golf club and I don't want to mix theories... That leads to my question, if you are familar with ideas like letting the Left Heel Rise and using the so-called Magic Move (Planting Left Heel/Right Elbow Into Side at the same time approaching from the inside. I realized I had been doing a slight Over the Top for the past few years in effect hitting slight pull fades and pull draws. I've been working really hard with that Magic Move and can start to actually hit the appropriate Push Fade and Correct Draw, but am looking for more imagery to make these correct inside path more natural. I've swung Weed Cutters and worked the Magic Move. I really like what your talking about and my bad thought before was thinking of "hands" through the ball towards the target, which you don't seem to subscribe too. Do you think what you teach gels with the thinkers I've mentioned/concepts or do you have a totally different way to get to the inside? Thanks so much! Good luck in your teaching/getting a good following going, you look like you know your stuff!
My biggest problem is rotating through the ball with an over the top swing. I will work on this drill. I have watched most of your videos regarding set up etc. and will definitely give this a try. I have struggled with consistency. My handicap index is a 26 low 22.7. I am going to commit myself to your methods as of today. I have a practice round tomorrow and will be on the range before. I will keep you updated. I am retired now and can play about 4 times a week and will gladly do drills at home to better myself. This drill with the driver is xlnt, it really showed my flaws of turning my shoulders and coming across the ball with the ball spinning off to the right. My question to you is ball position with all of the clubs. Is it always off of the left foot? Thank you for the videos.
+dtee06 Right on D...be patient with the process, it's worth it. If you run into any issues you can join my golf school www.jimvenetosgolfacademy.com. You'll find many more videos and you'll be guided through the process of surpassing your golf goals. Ball position varies based on the club but a good rule of thumb is irons 2 inches inside the lead heel and woods off the lead heel.
I have played two rounds & had great success with my short irons but I will need to watch this video more & practice the drill more. I find it so difficult not to load up on the right with the driver and not feeling balanced coming through the ball.
Jim i have been watching & rewatching this video lesson over & over. It is such a critical lesson in many simple ways & is a real 'ah ha' video for me. From a position of 'stillness' with my weight remaining on my front side pivot i use my leadside arm to lead in the whole swing (both back & downswing) & critically remaining still in this lead side position so that my shoulders remain closed/square through impact. This creates an 'in to out' swing path ie a draw flight. I can also now see that by remaining still at the lead shoulder pt (fulcrum pt) keeping my shoulders still & closed in the downswing & thru impact (done by letting the trail arm/shoulder follow & not hit nor dominate the leadside) will create a 'maximum'(in size) circular 'in to out' swing path. If you wrongly involve your trail side in a dominating hitting action it turns your shoulders/body open through impact resulting in a 'out to in' swing path. I noticed that this also makes the return downswing a much smaller circular radius so directly affects swing speed & distance. By correctly keeping a stillness in the downswing with the shoulders remaining closed & square through impact (done by allowing the trail shoulder to follow & remain 'still' behind the lead not turning or 'hitting' in the downswing & through impact) will create a repeatable in to out draw swing with a maximum circular swing radius. I can now see & understand from watching you swing here that by using the trail side to force or hit the ball all it is doing is forcing & creating an over the top 'outside to in' swing path. This requires almost impossible timing of the body & shoulder turn to strike the ball repeatedly & purely for a straight path. Also i can see that the actual size of the swing radius (circle) becomes alot smaller (critical to create real swing speed & distance) when you try to hit with the trail arm & turning shoudler. Is my undertanding of this lesson correct?. Also can you give me some advice regarding initiating the downswing & what I should be feeling or doing to start it as i am having difficulty in understanding how i should be doing this correctly. I don't really understand how to 'just let the arms fall' & in doing this have some sort of clubface control. Could you please explain what you do & are thinking when starting & making the downswing through to impact?.
@@jimvenetosgolf Jim is your 1st move in the downswing a pulling down of the arms by the lead arm? & does it begin with a bit more pressure (weight) down into the ground via front foot in the change over from backswing to downswing?. Also Jim i watched very closely on a TH-cam post of you hitting the Driver & your swing looked so smooth, easy & purely hit. I noticed very little movement in your legs. Your lead weight bearing leg was slightly flexed & pretty much remained the same (still) flexed right through impact. It only fully straightened well into finish. Would you say that i should keep my lead leg flexed & still ias possible in the entire swing. I have been straightening my flexed knee in the downswing thinking this action a positive one as it puts even more weight onto the front foot into the groundground?....Is this ok or is this too much moment that i should keep still & just flexed ie no straightening .
mplunky1 My downswing is a product of stillness, when you stay still the club is going to return back down to impact, it’s a simple as that, if you’re looking for a movement you’re wasting your time.
@@jimvenetosgolf thanks Jim perfect answer for me. Can you please direct me to the 'Driver' swing video lesson in the Academy lessons as i can't find it & i need to do a bit of range work on hitting the driver with my stock draw & also importantly how to setup to fade my driver on a few holes on my course which is essential. I remember you saying that fading my driver is just knowing how to hit a 'bad' or poor swing. I usually setup for it by pivoting on to my front but with feet a little open & my shoulder line also 10° open then i swing along that line trying to keep my clubface square into the ball at impact. My miss occurs when i hit the ball either straight to my feet/shoulder line or even draw it & I'm deduecing that happens because I have just hit it with my reg JVGS but my allignment (feet & shoulders) all aimed 10°right (as i am Lefthanded!) of the dead straight line. Is that what i should be working on to hit my fade repitistiously at will only when i need it. Can you help me out with this one as i really want to get sure & confident with this so that i can get the ball where i want it with a bit of fade. The dead straight or slight draw ball is getting me into trouble occasionally when i don't fade it when i have aligned for it as just deadbang it into the dog leg rough or trees. Hope that made some sense.
Ha' if I only had you teaching me at age 20.... when I let my arms through the way you're teaching I crush the ball but dang it I struggle hold back the silent shoulders they want to move. It takes flexibility and strength ... sometime I have it sometimes I don't .... nevertheless you're spot on.
Great to hear...flexibility and strength aren't mandatory to keep your shoulders quiet, I'm sure with a little guidance we can get you more consistent. Sign up for a free trial at my school and you can send me video of your swing for analysis, I'm sure I'll be able to give you some insight on how to keep your shoulders closed through impact. @@Builders-fo9xc I appreciate the support so I will help you…I’m not open at all in this video. Open means my chest would be facing toward the target. My chest remains closed for every shot I hit and here my chest is clearly closed to the target.
Gotta give this a try; am only 72 but sometimes shoot over 80 like today. Took up golf at 60 (now a 9 hcp), but have 4 swing thoughts every time;l want a simpler swing without 5 swing thoughts for every shot. Simple is good.
Hi Jim. I am a great believer in the right sided golf swing and understand the method. I have watched most of your videos and but have yet to find one which demonstrates the bunker shot. A video would be appreciated.
I’m a natural righty but swing left Always practice swing with my lead arm (right)only and hits are accurate. If I could use one arm in golf I would probably hit better. Then I saw your video, I’m like he’s got something here. Just have to incorporate that trail arm, not easy on follow through as you mentioned. Thanks for the tip! 👍
hi jay, you want to square the face to your swing path, so, considering we are hitting tight draws square the face to the point that your draw will start at.
""considering we are hitting tight draws square the face to the point that your draw will start at"" I sure wish I could figure this one out! I thought feet and clubface were aimed at target, with a 45° shoulder tilt to the right. Isn't the draw created by the gap between clubface and shoulder lines?
Ric. T. Hi Ric, the draw is created by the swing path. An inside out swing path with the face square to the swing path will produce a tight draw. To consistently create this swing path we rely upon positioning our shoulders closed at address and then maintaining that closed position during the swing to ensure a true inside out swing path. The feet act as the stability for the body during the swing. Whether they are open, closed or square they have no true bearing on direction(otherwise we could all just square our toes to the target and flag every shot). The goal for the feet should be support and stability, like outriggers. Could you expand about your question of the gap between club face and shoulder line? Where is the gap?
Ric. T. Hi Ric, Good questions. I spent about an hour answering your q's and then my browser crashed, so I apologize for the delay, but I have to respond to some students in my school and then I'll get back to you asap. Have no fear though, there are very simple solutions for all of your problems. Here is a video that may better explain the pivot, not "shift" of the set up. th-cam.com/video/QilQdjPmWbE/w-d-xo.html

Hey jim tks for the quick reply.in my set up my left hand strong to see some knuckles puts a tiny bit of pressure on my elbow.that said I have a neutral grip I believe.and this works.i am a 11 handicap and 2 or 3 times a year i will shoot 77.but i have some issues hitting it fat.so i am giving your set up a test.i have a indoor set up and will be starting on sunday.will send some pics.tks and let me know
HI Jim - just found you and loving the concept so i tried it today (I'm a 10 hcp and have been toying with stack and tilt) Anyway need help with an issue... I closed my body 45°, weight forward (I assume this is the line where the ball starts) and pointed my club face square i.e. straight down the fairway where I assume the ball will end up. However, despite my best intentions, I seem to leave all my shots to the right, even though they drew (they didn't slice) they just started and went much further right than where I thought I was aiming...didn't draw enough. The ball primarily went where my shoulders were aiming, but not where my club face was pointed.... Is there a correction for this? - are my hands and arms not fast enough through the hitting zone? Or should i have a less closed of a stance (pointed less to the right) Something is "slightly" off but i could not get the ball to draw back to the fairway.. Want to stick with this, this swing makes sense to me THX!!!
I just came across your youtube video and it may be exactly what I need. I injured my right knee and can't do a weight shift so I'm going to try your method tomorrow at the practice range. It seems like more of swinging the arms than rotating the body, correct?
Albert Piscione Hi Albert, Yes, you are just swinging the arms while you brace your body and this swing will reduce the strain on your right leg. How was your range session?
Jim this video instruction is so good & so important to understand. I find this particular action crucial to success & hitting the ball consistanrly 'pure' which your swing finds so easily. My only bad shot is a wiildly unexpected 'duck hook' & only occurs with my driver or 3xWood (off the deck) which usually results me in big trouble that i had setup to avoid. I really don't understand where this bad shot comes from but feel it is probably due to somehow (after setting up into my lead side) that in the downswing i am transferring back with weight staying on my trail side (leg/foot) which then possibly causes me to catchup over using my hands (???). My question is in regard to this particular video instruction it is very obvious that in the downswing, impact & post impact that you have subtlety somehow increased the weight/pressure into your left side even more so than the 70% in the setup (as your right heel comes off the ground during this process indicating say 90%+ weight/pressure transfer). Do you achieve this process by being aware of increasing even more pressure (weight) ie.from say70% in the setup to 95%+ down into the ground of my lead foot in the downswing thru Impact. Can i brace or straighten this lead leg/knee to achieve this? (or do i keep my lead leg/knee in me flexed state as setup even thru the downswing & impact?). Many thanks Jim. Mark Plunkett JVGA Member.
Jim Venetos Golf Academy i try to focus on keeping my Lead Shoulder in the setup position so that it remains 'Still' ie both laterally & vertically in the entire swing thru & past impact. Also i am trying to become more aware of the 'room' or space that is created by my closed shoulders i want the club to travel in that free centrifugal space that exists from trail hip height to impact which is obviously on an in/out path. I feel this 'space' & it is usually my practise swing just prior to setting up. This 'wild' draw shot occurs with my driver & long clubs when i am feeling confident & tend to jump on it with increased swing speed. I notice that i at the finish of my swing i have more weight remaining behind the ball on my Trail side (possibly caused by me 'hitting' from the top with my Trail arm/shoulder when i do this). My question regarding straightening of my Lead leg by putting obvious pressure into the ground with my Lead foot is...is this a legitimate way of making sure i keep my weight forward in the downswing & thru impact. Is this something that i can do or is it overkill as i search for a way to prevent this happening.
@@mplunky1 - You give an excellent description of the 'space' 'room' you want to club to travel in and just generally what you experience with Jim's method. I've been receiving coaching from Jim for 10 months. Do you live in northern california? I"m looking for local guys who use Jim's method.
Question: Should a right side dominant person/player, simply try and learn to golf left sided?? Then the right side, with all the power and wanting to take over etc, can actually be in control instead of wanting to take over control from weak side.

Jim been trying your system. Thought if it showed promise I would join your school. I am staying still according to my friends eyes, wait turned into left side. All I hit is pushes and push fades with driver. Grounders with fairway woods, shanks and fades with irons. Can you help get me started.
Jack Phillips You’re clearly doing something wrong...instead of your friends instructing you on the swing I developed 25 years ago, let me guide you and you’ll be more than satisfied.
Jim, Superb video explanation. So its winter in NY and no golf in site for 4 more months:(. This looks so effortlessly powerful. Do you feel like you have to swing hard for your technique or do you just get the club in motion toward the hole(not the ball) and let the beautiful draw happen? Can you do this with a fade? thanks for your videos.
Can this not lead to an arm dominant swing rather than using the body as a power source. I definitely have the trail side dominant issue most times, but letting your arms do the work seems that it would reduce distance. I'll definitely give this a try & hope for the best.
Your thoughts on tour pro average shoulders open 30 degrees at impact on golftec study? Shoulders need to be open at impact not closed which can lead to flipping
Craig Turner the good ball strikers are closed at impact to hit draws, I don’t flip but if you want to open your shoulders and time a glancing path that creates a lot of spin, treat your self. But then ask yourself, If golf tec was correct, wouldn’t the average golfer be better and the pro more consistent?
This swing tells you to flip your hands. If you don’t you are gonna push. Hence why you see no driver videos and no track man videos. No distance due to flipping your hands. It’s good for beginners for a draw, but not low handicapped.

I would love to hear you, Milo Lines, and the dude from Canada (everyone knows who I mean, his daughter, at 100lbs hits it 300yds) and just talk about the fundamental misunderstandings of "modern" golf. It would be a fucking hoot. Pardon my French. 90 minutes. That's all it would take. God bless and thanks for the "stillness" Jim. At 57yo, I have hope again for scratch-type style of play. And it's not about the score. It's about playing golf.
I have to think in opposites..I'm a lefty who is right.side dominant...which is a good thing for this system. My left side will never try to dominate the the right...hypothetically..lol
Hey Jim it’s your old student JB. I’m still following your teachings and I find this guideline I must’ve missed very helpful this week. Maybe some missing power I’ve been lacking.
@@dcvideo2 the swing I teach is a very easy swing for people to make with limited mobility, but I’m not sure what you’re talking about when you’re trying to rotate your hands through the swing after impact. That is not necessary in what I teach.
@@jimvenetosgolf thx for the reply Jim. What I meant was the natural rotation of arms to avoid chicken wing. BTW, I can't find any info in your videos about ball position. Position for different clubs and different shots. thx again

Hi Jim.Am impressed with your system so far (3 weeks!r).I will continue with a purpose. One thing interrupts my progress. This is the fact that the swing pivots round the top of the vertebrae ....I attempted to not rotate the shoulders but it was not always fluid because of this doubt in my mind (especially longer clubs). The shoulders do appear to move in your videos, but I follow the verbal instructions literally...i.e. fixed position while swinging. What should my swing thought be for the shoulders ? Thanks,I will continue in my practice till I get consistancy. Kind Regards, Michael
Michael Stevenson Hi Michael, The shoulders don't rotate until well after impact. This secures the inside and shallow path for the swing. Explain to me more about what you are seeing as "the shoulders rotating around the top of the vertebrae?" My shoulders don't rotate around the vertebrae until well after impact. Here's a video I made that addresses a different topic but you'll be able to see the clear difference between hunter's shoulders rotating prior to impact and mine rotating after impact. Let me know if this helps. www.powerchalk.com/video/102708_1958-LR56-0D70-X60V-CHLK/play/embed
Thank you Jim, A good video. Previously I meant that I feel that the shoulders normally rotate around the top (the lower neck) of the back. with a full swing Watching the video it appears that the left shoulder rotates a little "at impact". I found myself keeping the shoulder line stock still as I swing the arms through impact position ,therefore losing the fluidity which you show so well. I hope I havn't muddied the waters to much.! I really have taken to the ethos of your technique, and find your style of communication enlightening and inspiring..
Michael Stevenson Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you're enjoying the content. The waters aren't muddied at all and I appreciate your questions. Keep 'em coming. The more you understand about this swing, the easier it is to perform. There are movements in the swing but I believe the key is in operating the swing through non-movements, which is the stillness I reference. Now stillness refers to two things primarily; stillness of weight on your forward foot, and, stillness of structure so as to maintain the closed axis of the body through impact. It is the stillness of weight and closed axis that will then cause the moving parts of the swing to move correctly. The movements that occur are based upon that which stays still and the set up position. In my swing, you can see that my left shoulder "rocks" up on the downswing and through impact but, the closed shoulder axis doesn't rotate until about 2 feet after impact. This "rocking" doesn't occur by any command of my own, but it is a repercussion of maintaing still weight in the closed axis. All too often in golf instruction, they may teach you to focus on the moving parts. This is difficult to do and, fortunately, unnecessary. Instead, if you preset the movements for the swing correctly in the set up, you can focus on still weight during the swing and the swing will operate consistently to produce high quality ball flight. You mentioned, you are able to maintain the shoulder line as stock still through impact. If you can do this the resulting shot should be of fairly high quality at worst. I'd like to get a little more background info on your game so I can better understand where you are coming from. What's your handicap, how long have you been playing, how often do you play? If you have a video of your swing, I'd love to see it and, since it's Christmas, I'll give you a free swing analysis. Happy Holidays!
Jim Venetos Golf Academy A great reply.Informative and precise.I I have played for thirty years and have won occasional medal events(few and far between),was a "good" tennis player (club champion),am a qualified yoga teacher (non teaching now).My recent swing was based on "The Golf Secret" (! ?) by Dr H.A.Murray, a 1950s book, having previously followed Greg Norman's videos. The "secret" of Mr.Murray is that the golf swing is controlled by a full rotation of the shoulders around the top of the spine, everything else being automatic, and unconscious.A simple concept, not unlike your system, but lacking your simplicity with the principle of non movement, which I think is revolutionary.Non movement I like !.Just being is one of life's joys for me(when I can). I am athletically(1.80 high and 86 kg) built and supple, but my build prevents true straightening of the left arm.I normally swing back slowly, and through semi quick. The weight shift I have never conquered ! Sorry no video. The question that I need to ask is,is the right hand/arm passive in the through swing:,a passenger,as it were along a lethally good swing path ? I am clearer now following you speaking of "rocking shoulders",I'm getting there........ All the best for the festive season Jim
Johnny Parker I can’t answer that without seeing your action or knowing more about you but this swing has consistently proven to be as or more powerful than the traditional swing.
All this swing does is cause pushes with longer clubs unless you flip your hands which will cause weak short drives. This guy is like oil salesmen. Pushes and sells his products. Good salesman, not good teacher. Let’s see a driver video and not a 9 iron video.
Not so...Once you get this swing down...at least for me...the long clubs have a powerful tight draw not a push or a hook. Hardest thing was to stop trying to swing and just focus on set up and stillness and be a witness to what happened rather than trying to make it happen...easy to say, very difficult to do. But once I got it down I'm very pleased with the results. With regards to your salesman comments...he gives tons of free value on you tube and charges $30 a month for full on training live video conference and unlimited swing analysis and personal instruction by video. And he has plenty of driver videos out there.
He has No driver videos. This one he doesn’t hit a ball. The one he does it’s into a net. No track man for distance. Let’s guess your driver goes 250 down the middle yeah ok. Not one pro does this move it’s good for beginners, but teaches bad habits like flipping your hands. If you don’t flip you’ll push the ball which is why I push. Normal swing you don’t flip. It weakens the swing and distance. Power comes from lower body, not staying still. Good luck.
Just Me and a lot of people doubted Moe Norman’s swing technique and at a later date those same people including many pros talking about Moe being the best ball stricker ever. Keep an open mind!
Rick, my main problem that you just clarified, thank you
You are so fortunate to be able to achieve it within one range session.I have been working on keeping the shoulders closed for about five months and still struggle. The fairway woods are the worst. I was a member of Jim’s academy and I believe in the system and am sticking with it. I am just slow at being able to implement it. Jim is great and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is serious about learning this method.
I wager this is the most important public video you have ever done. Thanks for posting, Jim.
i suspect this is one if the most subtlety important vids in your collection,
and one that repeated viewing and absorption will create tremendous benefits
Just discovered you... Jim Venetos... this might just be one very fortunate find! Loving this dude
I really like how intelligently you articulate your instruction.
Operate through stillness....quite outstanding....just the best....thanks
U have an excellent manner n mastery of words in explaining concepts 💯
Jim, as I was trying your method, which works great with shorter irons as you explained in one off your videos. The driver and longer irons were a problem. Then I realized that when I was setting my preset position that my right shoulder was higher than than my left, after I made an adjustment to lowering my right shoulder below my left and and my weight shifted as you state, I started hitting the great. So thanks, I love the system.
Jim, can't tell you how excited and well I'm doing with this!! Thanks!!
This has been my biggest problem and question. Thank you for the well-explained answer and treatment.
did you use this swing change, did it work?
This is a valuable lesson no matter what kind of "theory" swing you have, because our right shoulder/side wants to dominate the swing in a very toxic way...where we steeply stomp onto the the ball and come in from the outside. The professional swing, even though they don't use this method most of them...they know that the right side must be kept in front of the chest for a LONG time. I can't do this with great consistency....that's why I'm giving Jim's method an honest try. Thanks for the lesson.
very focused video, there are times that I feel like I'll never get to the ball, especially with the driver and I see its the right side telling me that
Jim Venitos needs to have more show time. His explanation is very easy to follow. He needs to be on golf channel immediately!
Thanks Jim.
Thanks for the explanation. Really helped me to cure my heavy slice.I guess this is one of the most important video for golfers to swing drivers
Commit to this system and you understand everything very quickly.
this is exactly the most important skill that I miss! thanks Jim
This works I hold my back to the target and almost take my right hand off the club and I have seriously gained at least 20 yards. It’s amazing so easy too. It’s crazy.
Yes, literally barely hang on with right hand. I know what you mean.
If my clubs are 2 degrees flat, can this technique work? Ty!
@@openstenosis Yes. If it’s a golf club in your hands, the philosophy applies.
If I quit thinking about my swing and use your technique of keeping very still it works absolutely great. Thanks
I am beginning to understand this critical moment at the bottom of the swing. THANKS
Your swing paradigm is fantastic and your presentation skills are superb.........my only question........does the left arm only push the club back in the backswing or does it actively involve both arms. I'm unable to decern by watching the videos.
Excellent explanation and demonstration of your technique.
Hi Jim,
This was the lesson that put it all together for me! Really appreciate it!
BB
Love your stuff, Jim. You explain with a logic that I’m quite surprised the golfing establishment, which seems to be suffering - considering how many golf courses are closing - would be backing up your type of golf swing. Did that make sense? Conventional golf just like any kind of conventional thought, has seen its time. A new paradigm is moving in and they - the establishment - is fighting tooth and nail against it.
wonderful advice. a problem i have had and never really realized it.
Wow, thats gold....I love that, and that is the answer....thanks, you saved me...from all the pain...
1slander1970 already made that video and many more you haven’t seen on TH-cam, it’s in my school, sign up, enjoy and quicken your learning curve. It’ll take you 5x longer to try to teach yourself the system I created. jimvenetosgolfacademy.com
Great concept Jim, doesn’t this way of looking at the right vs. the left automatically eliminate flipping or early release.
+Jim Venetos Golf Academy Thank you .
I have played two rounds & had great success with my short irons but I will need to watch this video more & practice the drill more. I find it so difficult not to load up on the right with the driver and not feeling balanced coming through the ball.
This makes soooooo much sense...as a dance teacher and golfer...there is an uncanny corelation
Interesting comment. Can you detail the similarities? Thanks.
Could you please explain what you do & are thinking when starting & making the downswing through to impact?.
mplunky1 I’m thinking....keep my weight still
@@jimvenetosgolf Jim is your 1st move in the downswing a pulling down of the arms by the lead arm?

Can you please direct me to the 'Driver' swing
video lesson in the Academy lessons as i can't find it & i need to do a bit of range work on hitting the driver with my stock draw & also importantly how to setup to fade my driver on a few holes on my course which is essential.
Hope that made some sense.
this your best video !!! not saying that the other vids arnt usefull , causetheyare !
When I do this, I tend to open the club face way too much at the set up.
Should the club face square at the set up?

@@jimvenetosgolf Thank you Im playing better golf this year because of your chanel. Keep it up
Makes a lot of sense to me. My major fault is trying to kill the ball. This is worth looking into.
Gotta give this a try; am only 72 but sometimes shoot over 80 like today. Took up golf at 60 (now a 9 hcp), but have 4 swing thoughts every time;l want a simpler swing without 5 swing thoughts for every shot. Simple is good.
Only one swing thought with this swing...stay still. Staying still is a skill and a product of a proper set up position.
You still playing?
Hi Jim.
I am a great believer in the right sided golf swing and understand the method.
I have watched most of your videos and but have yet to find one which demonstrates the bunker shot.
A video would be appreciated.
Richard Sargent you’ll find the bunker videos in my school www.jimvenetosgolfacademy.com.
Would love to see you in the golf community.
Hi Ricky, I'd love to be a part of it, where is it and how do I join? Also, it'd be great to see some video of your swing.
""considering we are hitting tight draws square the face to the point that your draw will start at""
I sure wish I could figure this one out!

User Tec jimvenetosgolfacademy.com
HI Jim - just found you and loving the concept so i tried it today (I'm a 10 hcp and have been toying with stack and tilt)
Anyway need help with an issue...
Or should i have a less closed of a stance (pointed less to the right)
Something is "slightly" off but i could not get the ball to draw back to the fairway..
Want to stick with this, this swing makes sense to me
THX!!!
Excellent !
I appreciate the kind words. May I answer your question with a question? What do we focus on during the swing?

Just brilliant
Question: Should a right side dominant person/player, simply try and learn to golf left sided?? Then the right side, with all the power and wanting to take over etc, can actually be in control instead of wanting to take over control from weak side.
Good point but if you've already started, no need to switch, with my technique you will learn we are more ambidextrous than most think.
Do you have some videos with 3.5 and hybrid woods? to see the position of the ball in the stance and the swing of course ... thank you
Matt Artiste in my school you will learn the answer to your question. jimvenetosgolfacademy.com
No one said this but only you, God bless you
Get the short clubs but struggle with the driver do you use short golf shaft and where does ball be placed in your driver
Aidan McGale no shorter shaft. You’re struggling because you’re trying to teach yourself. Sign up for the school, I’ll answer all your questions and get you sorted.
Jim,
Superb video explanation.
Great info O.G
Love this.
Can this not lead to an arm dominant swing rather than using the body as a power source. I definitely have the trail side dominant issue most times, but letting your arms do the work seems that it would reduce distance. I'll definitely give this a try & hope for the best.
Yea man!!! You r the best!!!!!!
I would love to see a 9 holes real situation with you Jim, as "hands-on" lesson
It’s good for beginners for a draw, but not low handicapped.
is this type of swing similar to the stack and tilt
It’d stack and tilt without the tilt. He preaches being still and flipping your hands
Hi Jim
What is the minimum sign up and what is the cost per month in sterling as I am in N.Ireland.
Thanks
Aidan McGale I think its $30 USD/month
My right shoulder runs underneath and in front
hey jim. can I do this with a weak grip, I have a bit of a bad left elbow and it hurts when I do a strong grip. let me know tks neil
Neil Robertson if it hurts w a strong grip but not a weak grip you’re issue isn’t your elbow but what you’re doing during the swing.
Hi Jim, when i try to remain absolutely still with the lower body i tend to hit weak shots, more so with the longer clubs than the short irons. Charlie

Hey Jim it’s your old student JB. I’m still following your teachings and I find this guideline I must’ve missed very helpful this week. Maybe some missing power I’ve been lacking.
Jim, I have limited flexibility. Will this swing make it easier to stay down and rotate my hands through the swing after impact?
@@dcvideo2 the swing I teach is a very easy swing for people to make with limited mobility, but I’m not sure what you’re talking about when you’re trying to rotate your hands through the swing after impact. That is not necessary in what I teach.
@@jimvenetosgolf thx for the reply Jim. What I meant was the natural rotation of arms to avoid chicken wing. BTW, I can't find any info in your videos about ball position. Position for different clubs and different shots. thx again

No after impact Jim eventually will turn toward the target , you can see this in his slow motion swing
Hi Jim.Am impressed with your system
so far (3 weeks!r).I will continue with a purpose.
One thing interrupts my progress. This is the fact that the swing pivots round the top of the vertebrae
....I attempted to not rotate the shoulders but it was not always fluid because of this doubt
in my mind (especially longer clubs). The shoulders do appear to move in your videos, but
I follow the verbal instructions literally...i.e. fixed position while swinging. What should my swing
thought be for the shoulders ?
Thanks,I will continue in my practice till I get consistancy.
Kind Regards,
Michael
Michael Stevenson Hi Michael, The shoulders don't rotate until well after impact. This secures the inside and shallow path for the swing. Explain to me more about what you are seeing as "the shoulders rotating around the top of the vertebrae?" My shoulders don't rotate around the vertebrae until well after impact. Here's a video I made that addresses a different topic but you'll be able to see the clear difference between hunter's shoulders rotating prior to impact and mine rotating after impact. Let me know if this helps.

Thank you Jim, A good video.
Previously I meant that I feel that the shoulders normally rotate around the top (the lower neck) of the back.
with a full swing
Watching the video it appears that the left shoulder rotates a little "at impact".
I found myself keeping the shoulder line stock still as I swing the arms through impact
position ,therefore losing the fluidity which you show so well.
I hope I havn't muddied the waters to much.! I really have taken to the ethos
of your technique, and find your style of communication enlightening and
inspiring..
Jim Venetos Golf Academy A great reply.Informative and precise.I
I have played for thirty years and have won occasional medal events(few and far between),was a "good" tennis player (club champion),am a qualified yoga teacher (non teaching now).My recent swing was based on "The Golf Secret" (!

@@jimvenetosgolf great I will give it a try.

jim i'm your guy
I can’t get it out of my mind that Jim is a character I would be doing missions for in gta5.
