the arrangement of this song (and I'd say of most of the album) is just exquisite, sounds pretty much like something out of a Disney musical. Mariah should keep going in that direction, she knows how for sure. Thanks for sharing!
Maybe something to consider, that on some parts where we think there's a "cut" because she instantaneously switches from head to chest voice, that she does that naturally even live.
This song is soooo beautiful and I saw her performing this live at her last Christmas concert…. It was one of the best moment of my life she was sooo beautiful and it was such a magical moment. It literally sounds like a Disney music The piano and guitar omg… that was a blessing for my ears and 28:32 ???? That was sooo Disney Christmasy 🫠🫠
I think Mariah starts singing with herself on the last word or note of a phrase and blends in so perfectly that it is almost undetectable to give the audio illusion that she doesn’t breathe. She is a genius at this technique. She does it so much in “When I saw You” that it is impossible for most people to sing along without taking more than one breath for over a min at a time. It’s fun to try tough 😂

The piano has a sad dissonance about it. Love it!

This is exactly what she does! And she is like SAMPLE PERFECT every single time. Truly a modern great!
exactly
it’s not overdubbed .. it’s air escaping her vocal cords when she does the whisper voice, it ends up sounding polyphonic
One of the best arrangements on a holiday song

Where do you happen to obtain these multitracks? Is it from one place or is it just a here and there grab em while you can sort of deal?
A orquestração que está escondida sob outras camadas da músicas é a verdadeira alma da música. Obrigado por garimpar essa pérola!! 👏🏻
I have a ton of early Madonna/Janet multitrack and stems if you are ever interested!
I wish you could do more of various Christmas song deconstructions rather than just Mariah Carey even though this one is fantastic.
I totally agree! I wish I had more classic Christmas tunes to look through!
The sound at 34:06 is produced by the reed of a low instrument like bass clarinet when the note isn’t hit properly
This song sounds like it could've been recorded in the 50s.
