This is quite possibly the greatest video game ever created. Very few games contain such powerful and compelling storytelling. I am not an overly-emotional guy, but to say I teared up a few times during my playthrough of this masterpiece would be a gross understatement. Indies truly do it better. PS. I enjoyed your playthrough very much! First time watcher, now subbed.
⚠⚠Hey guys! 2 warnings with this one⚠⚠: 1. This game contains very sensitive topics, some of which I wasn't prepared for! It deals with themes of isolation, grief, loss, amongst other things. please look up the game's trigger warnings before you watch, in case there is something upsetting in here for you
Busy editing my gameplay, glad I decided to check other gamers who've played it because I thought I'm being a bit dramatic with the editing of the music. Your copyright warning just helped me. Thank you so much.
Love this, top tier "walking simulator". Probably my favorite in that category. The way it mixes gameplay and story at the same time is brilliant. Can't wait to watch this! If you have the time I'd recommend a video from Joseph Anderson. He does a really great breakdown of the game, the story and themes. Called "The Villain of Edith Finch"
The phrase "East of the sun and West of the moon" is a term often used in norwegian fairytales. It is used to describe the location of the palace of Whitebear king Valemon. I wonder at it's inclusion to describe Lewis's golden palace. Is the term common in fairytales outside of Norway as well? We do see several copies of books titles "Norwegian fairytales" around the house, so I wonder if it might be a spesific referance, perhaps in line with the Finch'es norwegian ancestry?
For reference every member dies from: Ingeborg Finch - Died during childbirth. Johann Finch - Died during childbirth. Odin Finch - While attempting to sail his house across the ocean he ended up sinking. Sven Finch - Fell to his death after the slide he was building collapsed. Molly Finch - Presumably died from food poisoning for consuming multiple un-edibles after being sent to bed without food. Calvin Finch - Fell off a cliff while he was swinging. Barbara Finch - Presumably tripped on her rollerskate or murdered by her boyfriend. Walter Finch - Hit by a train after walking out onto the tracks. Gregory Finch - Drowned in a bathtub due to parental neglect. Gus Finch - Either drowned in a storm or crushed by tent equipment. Sam Finch - Knocked off of a cliff when the deer his daughter shot turned out to still be alive. Sanjay Kumar - Died in an earthquake. Lewis Finch - Implied to have "accidentally" decapitated himself with a fish de-header. Edith 'Edie' Finch - Presumably died from old age or suicide. Dawn Finch - Died from unknown illness. Spoilers!!!: Edith Finch - Died from complications as she gave birth to her son, Christopher.
I find it very funny that you immediately panicked about needing subtitles and then were disappointed that it wasn’t an option, only to realize subtitles are a fundamental part of the the game that can’t be turned off!
I always figured that since her mother sent her to bed early and didn't sound mad, Molly probably was sick. medicine back in those days wouldn't have been great and the holly and fluoride definitely wouldn't of helped but my theory was it was all mainly a fever dream before she died of whatever sickness she had along with the poison.
I've watched a lot of play-throughs of this game - this is one of my favorites. I think we are on the same emotional wavelength:). Don't apologize for being too quiet. Many players go the other way, and it's always distracting. Your interaction was just right. In my eyes, this game is an absolute masterpiece. I've never seen anything quite like it. The detail is incredible. I need to check out more from Annapurna. And how about a shout-out to Valerie Rose Lohman as the voice of Edith Finch. This is a good example of how important voice actors are in story-driven games. One little piece of trivia. When the closing credits are running and they get to the list of playtesters (1:54:00), I saw Neil Druckmann's name pop up (2nd column).
This was such a good game. I saw you had recommendations for Firewatch and Soma too, definitely add my support for those. Another great walking sim is a game called The Witness. It’s a very challenging puzzle game but the audio and visual design, and the mysterious world it takes place in make it one of the most engaging and memorable games I’ve played.
Such an amazing and emotional game! If you haven't already, you might want to play The Unfinished Swan. Apart from being a pretty decent game, it's also linked to Edith Finch through one of the characters.
Thanks to the developers who made this game. Thanks to TH-cam for recommending Emma's channel to me. And especially thanks to Emma for playing and sharing with us! This is so incredible. The scene which touched me the most? 1:03:23 you can see the swing from which Calvin flown away and it was even wrapped around the branch several times. As if the time stood still since then, as in all of the rooms. Insane.
With how many playthroughs I watch and how much I love this game it’s interesting that this is my fist time watching a PT about it. What a game huh? This game kinda made me realize how videogames as media for storytelling have something unique to offer that no other medium can match just like movies, series, etc. have. This “walking simulator” sub genre has a lot of gems in it so keep at it 👍 good video 🙏
This is my all time favorite video game to watch playthroughs on - and cry my our out. Found your channel just a couple days ago so great timing with this. Looking forward to more Sekiro 😊
Love this game, enjoying my lie in watching you play this. I love how you didn’t have a clue about what it was, neither did I and I think that’s how it should be experienced (save checking the trigger warnings if you need to of course)
Honoured to be part of your lie in! Well deserved I’m sure! I totally agree, really nice to go into it blind. It was extremely captivating and moving ❤️
What a wonderful choice Emma, this is just made for you , I don't know what I expected but watching this just blew me away just how inventive it was 🤩 thanks for the update on your schedule & goals for 2023 take care & sending good vibes and happiness for your weekend 🙏🫶💜🌺
Lovely to see you again Emma on the same day what remains of Edith finch what did I say I would love to see this is one of my favourite games along with life is strange so you got my vote 🗳️ Emma what a start already lovely graphics this brought back so many memories Emma thank you for everything you’ve the best take care see ya soon bye bye ❤
I know I'm late here and it's a bit unrelated but I saw Tunic on your PS+ and I cand recommend this game enough. It's a great, touching and adorable game with neat twist on exploration. Some can say it's similar to old school Zelda with soulslike elements. I think you might like it, but beware of spoilers while looking it up.
thanks for posting this. This game is such incredible experience I wanted to see someone else play it. as a dude who tries not to try I teared up twice LOL

I know its been months since you uploaded this but i wanted to let you know that the Gregory scenes sound seems to be missing :(! The rest of the video is fine, it seems youtube messed with only that portion 😢 1:13:44
I'd been looking at this game for years but only got round to playing it when it appeared on PS+ a couple of months ago, I really enjoyed it. Something different from what I usually play. If you want to play more shorter Indie style games Emma I'd recommend Deliver Us The Moon, it's a really good game and might still be on PS+ Extra. There's also Little Nightmares 2 if you enjoyed playing the first one. Also worth a look, and with a similar dark and macabre style as Little Nightmares, are Limbo and Inside. Limbo has been out a long time so you may have already played it but Inside is more recent and from the same Developer, Playdead. All these are only about 3-5 hours long.
I recently got the ps plus extra.1st game i tried was medium which i really enjoyed so glad to hear you saying you hoping to try it.ive downloaded this and mortal shell to try next
Edith Finch was such a good game. But oh my god! Life is strange is one of my all time favourite games. I really hope you play it some time, would love to see your reactions
Yeah.. Pretty much.. Just each way the family members die told in a fantastical way. :( you infer how they die through their stories. Yeah. Pretty sad. But told in a fantastical way
Hey Emma this is a bit off topic and kind of out of nowhere, but will you be playing Tekken 8 when it comes out this year? I've been catching a couple of Tekken references through some of your playthroughs and I thought that maybe your a fan of the franchise. Anyways, love your channel and your content, take care and stay classy! 〜(꒪꒳꒪)〜
I'm pretty sure it's from late 18th century. And while yes, it is a public domain on its own, a lot of renditions performed by different orchestras are under a copyright.
Some people have hearing problems or/and auditory processing difficulties, it's very strange of you to make a remark like that about her simply wanting subtitles.
“Don’t cry it’s just a videogame”. The Videogame:
This is quite possibly the greatest video game ever created. Very few games contain such powerful and compelling storytelling. I am not an overly-emotional guy, but to say I teared up a few times during my playthrough of this masterpiece would be a gross understatement.
Indies truly do it better.
PS. I enjoyed your playthrough very much! First time watcher, now subbed.
The most popular theory for Molly was that she was poisoned by the toothpaste and berries and hallucinated becoming all those creatures before dying.
It’s sad bc all the animals she turned into can be seen in her room, so yeah she was hallucinating :(
@@peytonkirk106 oh wow ):
From poisoning? Is that how she died? But that whole thing of I think it’s waiting for me to sleep it needs to feed? What did that mean
@@chelsiirvine8970 nothing. she’s hallucinating.

I just now realized both the twins deaths involved cliffs
This is so much more than a video game. It’s one of the most beautiful pieces of story telling I’ve ever seen
I find it very funny that you immediately panicked about needing subtitles and then were disappointed that it wasn’t an option, only to realize subtitles are a fundamental part of the the game that can’t be turned off!
I love this game. It hit me more than I expected when I started to play it in the past. Nice to see you play it.
Theory: Molly got hallucinations from eating toothpaste and holly berries, and fell to the ground and broke her neck while trying to catch the bird
I always figured that since her mother sent her to bed early and didn't sound mad, Molly probably was sick. medicine back in those days wouldn't have been great and the holly and fluoride definitely wouldn't of helped but my theory was it was all mainly a fever dream before she died of whatever sickness she had along with the poison.
if she fell out of the window and died she wouldn't have been able to write what she saw in her diary
an absolute classic, game makers i know have called it a perfect game. so glad to see you try it!
thanks Andrea, yeah it was awesome!
Lovely! It's not the kind of game I usually play so watching your play through was a lot of fun.
Thanks Miri - so glad you liked it! Definitely something new for me too and I enjoyed every second x
More story-driven masterpieces: Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Life is Strange, Soma
Loved it - definitely be playing more!!!
Soma is AMAZING, one of my favorite game stories ever. Leaves you speechless at times.
I love this game to death, is so well written :')
I've watched a lot of play-throughs of this game - this is one of my favorites. I think we are on the same emotional wavelength:). Don't apologize for being too quiet. 1:40:24 they were dressed in all black. Because this wasn’t only the coronation of Prince Lewis but also the execution of the cannery worker Lewis
This game always breaks me a bit. I knew there wasn't going to be a happy ending but damn.
Every time someone plays this I think "Oh I'm up for watching it again". Then afterwards I'm emotionally spent. But I did enjoy your playthrough Emma.
And while I’m making recommendations can I add Subnautica to that list as well! I’m so greedy 😁

I'm just surprised you didn't cry. I bawled my eyes out at that bath scene.
One of my favourite games ever. Really got me, this one♥️
The music that played in Milton’s room and the paintings are from a video game called the unfinished swan
Great video, love this game and watching others play this makes me want to go back and play it again
Such a game you only need to play once and see reactions of others to understand how good the story telling was.
For someone who wanted to see everything she really didnt look at anything
"Irrational fear of water in games," you say. Sounds like a Subnautica playthrough is needed! And thanks for this playthrough; this game ruined me.

"I swallowed him up and I didn't chew one bit" (lol), Cheers for playing this game. I played it a lot time ago and don't remember the details.

One of the best songs indie game of all time!
After hearing about your irrational fear of water in bufeo games, you're going to have "fun" with Gregory!
This is such a great Game so emotional! I loved the art style and concept, enjoyed the Play Through! 🤗

What’s Neil Druckmann doing playtesting this??
will you play horizon forbidden west on the channel? Its really good!
I'd love to see Soma and Life is Strange. I've had this game for a while, but haven't played it yet. I guess this is the sign I was waiting for.
Not lying you reminded me of kall me kris you two look like twins❤
the beginning was funny the end though tears
Great vid!!!! You handled it a lot better than i did lol

It’s not a game it’s a message
Would love to see original Life is strange playthrough!!! 😍🦌
Edith Finch was such a good game. But oh my god! Life is strange is one of my all time favourite games. I really hope you play it some time, would love to see your reactions
Emma you are doing awesome and adorable as always :)
Love your videos
Yeah.. Pretty much.. Just each way the family members die told in a fantastical way. :( you infer how they die through their stories. Yeah. Pretty sad. But told in a fantastical way
I don’t think a game can be “non vegan” if the animals you play as are literally carnivores
What course did you do at uni Emma? I'm sure I had a module called new media narratives haha
English at Bournemouth uni!
IM BAWLING 😭😭😭
Since you hate underwater games, will you ever play subnautica?
Don't watch molly story unless you like violence.
You ain't a snake bruv coughhentaicough🤣
Emma you should try to play Subnautica. 😂
I'm scared!!
@@Emmalition lol the ocean is scary but it's also very beautiful, that game has breath taking views.

In the most respectful way possible ur commentary is so annoying
Life is strange is good
Did she actually mute the part with 17th century music? Pretty sure that’s public domain lmao 🤦🏻
Nope, several youtubers have been hit with claims on these videos and had to cut out the exact same part. it is not public domain.
I'm pretty sure it's from late 18th century. And while yes, it is a public domain on its own, a lot of renditions performed by different orchestras are under a copyright.
congrats on the partnership queen! cheers
Wow, you need subtitles. I knew the English were terrible at foreign languages, but Americans actually speak English.
Some people have hearing problems or/and auditory processing difficulties, it's very strange of you to make a remark like that about her simply wanting subtitles.
