1977-2003. Peak age of American cinema. Best movies ever made. Literal works of art that some can re watch 100s of times and never get tired of the timeless moments. Each and every genre has its classics throughout this time as well.
It's insane. I still go to the movies, but I go to retro showings of classics and camp garbage fun movies from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Hardly ever a new film makes my list...and when it does, I'm usually disappointed.
I am a History professor and made a movie review of Gladiator II. They did not have sharks in the water, or ride Rhinos! I know some folks don’t really care about historical accuracy of movies, but if you are curious and wanted to know what fact was and what was fiction you can give it a watch! Even if you are not planning on watching the movie, watching my video is a fun way to learn about some Roman History!
I haven't seen it, but for the previews. How'd they get Bluish looking water? Even if they could get water wouldn't it be super dirty without filtration? Lol, Preview it looks like a swimming pool.. Maybe it's different in the movie, but I just Can't.... Peace & Luck to All! ✌️🤟
@@joshmackaben4537 Give my video a watch, I also have another video just on the Colosseum. Before the Colosseum there was a huge lake there. We have archeological evidence of how they pushed the water into the Colosseum. And it would have been very dirty.
Oliver Reed beat five Royal Navy sailors in an arm-wrestling match before dying of a heart attack in a bar in Malta in 1999. 8 pints of German beer, 12 shots of rum, half a bottle of whiskey, and shots of cognac is what google says he had.
I remember when Oliver Reed died, my dad was reading the news that morning, and was shocked to hear of his passing. It happened the way nerdrotic says, Legend!
To answer your question yes that is true story about Oliver Reed died from a heart attack during a break from filming Gladiator in Valletta, Malta on the afternoon of 2 May 1999. According to Gladiator screenwriter David Franzoni said Reed had encountered a group of sailors from the Royal Navy frigate HMS Cumberland on shore leave in a bar (pub) and challenged them to a drinking match. Reed fell ill during the match and collapsed despite efforts at resuscitation by his friends he died in an ambulance while en route to the hospital he was 61 years old
I just came back from the cinema from Gladiator 2 and friggen crap it's AWFUL. I literally fell asleep at least 5 times, they wasted this sequel's potential. It could have been so well made with a completely different plot. Heck I could have done a better job. Just a total flop. Forget it exists and just go back to watching the original.
movie is a complete demake of the original. Denzel's character being an inversion of the character he's supposed to replace is not an accident, as well as the positive masculinity theme being inverted, and you cannot have a modern movie without having your wife going to war with you of course, of course, any normal men would have said no to their wife if they even suggested going to war.
It’s absolutely true. The last part of the movie had to be rewritten after his death and they used some different techniques to include him in the rest of his performance and killing him off, using older footage and different filters
I loved both Gladiator and Wicked as a Kid. I'm not excited for the remakes.. honestly Hollywood and Disney have really ruined some classics in past few years.
Saw Gladiator 2 few hours ago (enjoyed it) and next attempted WICKED. Walked right out of Wicked.....I couldn't do it. I saw and got enough in Joker 2. No more musicals for me.
This makes what *David Lynch* pulled off with his magnum opus to *Twin Peaks* and to his fans across all time and space and worlds... that much more beautiful and meaningful! LLL❤
so..not gonna lie..and this caught me off guard. That Superman doll on nerdrotics shelf made my eyes water up. That was one of my favorite toys when i was a kid. So much so that my mom ended up buying me several of them because i literally wore the thing out. I have tried to find that thing online for sale and combed flea markets... and have yet to see one. man oh man...ok sorry ...carry on.
I wish that people would actually do a deep dive on actual history instead of things like movies that they have been doing historical inaccuracy like for example.. Cleopatra, so let's not get me started on inaccuracies of historical events and figures throughout history! I mean hell, they painted your Messiah White, no one have an issue with it! 😑
May 25, 1999... ICP released "Nothing's Left". It said "Everything left's been done before Nothing's new; nowhere to explore..." They were 100% right then, and it's absolutely relevant now.
Mr. Tyrone, please check out the movie, don’t let the reviews deter you. My mom (a big Denzel fan), brother and sister in law all went to see it on a Sunday night (the theater was packed) and we thoroughly enjoyed it!
I enjoyed this movie to be honest. I respect the general idea of what they were trying to do with this movie. Many maybe even most storyline’s in theory can logically have sequels that just never end. But in this case I’m more than satisfied that gladiator’s sequel did happen.
Oliver Reid definitely died because of that and he was watched constantly by security to make sure he wouldn't go off on one and boy did he go off on one 😢
Let's be honest here, were you all really surprised? Most directors do lose their age in film making. Best thing to do is buy a Blu-Ray and watch great classic movies. It's just the only way to enjoy cinema now.
Just got done watching it and I was entertained. Did it have to be made? No. Was it as epic and emotional? No. But I did not feel the run time because it was action packed.
Rewatched Syner Cut this weekend with my nephews and some friends... bc we bailed on watching Gladiator 2 kkkkkk 2 hrs gladiator noooo... 4hrs Heroes YES!! kkkkkkkkk Seems like a Watch at home movie!!! they should have made Gladiator 2 about Spartacus and the Rebelion!!
I think the real problem is Gladiator isn't one of those movies where there's a part two - It's a one and done. So doing another either becomes redundant or actually takes away from it. For movies like that you have an entirely new title and have some elements of the last story that ppl are familiar with just loosely still connected. In short it's another movie that nobody wanted.
Meh... I stilled liked it to an extant. Ridley Scott can be kind of arrogant when it comes to historical accuracy but whatever. If anything it seems like he was riffing off Caligula and Elagabalus, the absolute worst in terms of Roman Emperors.
I gave up on modern movies a long time ago. There are more than enough movies from 1936-2010 to last my lifetime.
I find a lot of movies I watch were made before I was born. I just like older movies. Don’t know why. I’m 44

They make movies to display a message or some agenda or narrative instead of just trying to entertain us. It's disheartening.

Was Denzel’s Character of Sub Saharan Descrent in real life?
They could have touched on the now extinct animals gladiators might have fought like the Atlas bear, but nope.

@@SombreroBeanieHat The character would have been more from N. Africa. We don't know exactly what the real Macarius looked like
They should've had sharks with Lazer beams attached to their heads for realism
Transgender sharks ☝🏼
Sharks with FRICKING LAZERS!!!
Hobbo-Lucius versus Sharkus Maximum Luminous
Yes, that was silly
Alright Dr. Evil . Probably would have made this unecessary slog more entertaining though

It's one of those movies that did not need a sequel, just why?
They've lost all sense of original ideas. Everything is a remake, part 2 or spin off. It's horrible 😞
So...there will be a third, then?

Ridley Scott’s dementia be showing in Gladiator 2.
Movies from Disney Hollywood is garbage 🗑️
Gladiator 2 shouldn't of existed.
Stone Cold is waiting on standby for your review 😂😂😂That glass about to break
🤣
Looked it up and the story about Oliver Reed’s death is apparently true.
We didn't need a Gladiator sequel any more than we needed an Independence Day sequel.

Wasn't expecting much with Gladiator 2, but I enjoyed it a lot. A worthy sequel.

So True I was living in Malta 🇲🇹 at the time this happened and the bar is now called Olly’s bar

Ridley Scott gonna make Gladiator 3 a musical.

Just wait for it to come to Netflix or to the Walmart $5 bin, that's what I'm going to do. If I even watch it at all.
Coming soon Titanic 2 with a cyborg Rose and a Jack underwater zombie refloating the ship to fight against global warming and patriarchy.
Tbf. The Roman Empire, during periods preceding decline, was very gay. It was one of the precursors of decline.
Sequels that didn’t need to be made:
Grease 2
Son of The Mask
The Godfather Part 3
Rocky 5
Superman 3 & 4
Lion King 2
Joker 2
And now This
Weekend at Bernie’s 2
Can't forget 300 part 2..smh
@ yes!
The hobbit.
Ghostbusters 2016
We are more excited for Tyrone’s review than the movie
Oliver Reid definitely died because of that and he was watched constantly by security to make sure he wouldn't go off on one and boy did he go off on one 😢
My wife asked me to go see wicked with her. I told her no. I ended up cutting my dogs nails and cleaning, time probably spent better. No regrets.

You know something’s wrong when the reviews are much more entertaining than the movies.
It’s true, and the bar changed its name to Reed’s Last Stand or something in his honor… 💪😭💪
I don't know about his performance in this movie, but Pedro Pascal is pretty legit in Last of Us and I'm looking forward to season 2 in 2025.
