I'm 13 and never knew about the RSoD until now. Why do I know what a PS2 is? My dad had one when I was about 3 to 5. The startup scared me ONLY IF the TV volume was loud. And when was I 3? 2010. So my dad had it in 2010-2012. Or maybe he just put it up somewhere out of my reach? Idk. But when I see this, I feel like I'm in a hellishly universe. Or, it makes me feel something is at the bottom of where the red is coming from
@@deletedaccount3187 I had one my mum sold it and I use to play Madagascar (I don’t remember getting this screen but I think I got it) this is one scary console (I’m 13 as well)

You happy? I'm a lil pee pee piss-child. U people should be ashamed.
Maybe there are even more actually. It’s tough to keep track but I did see 5 and I was thinking maybe 6 if unless one of the cubes had an elliptical orbit or maybe I’m just making a hasty conclusion. It can be difficult to keep track of how many cubes there are because of how small they are and how often they are obscured by larger cubes. Who knows
The cubes aren't different sizes, they're actually the same size. It's just that they're at different distances. See how the on the system configuration the cubes are the size.
I think it's also creepy because the animation on the screen descends down into the unknown, because you rarely saw this screen as it is, and that concept of going into the unknown is primally scary to us.
My family used to scratch movies all the time, but games were sacred. I never actually experienced this lol. The regular startup freaked me out tho. I imagine I wouldn't have liked the RSOD very much either.
0:43 the jewels in the background reflecting off the blocks was the coolest image i ever seen i always wish it could be set as the main screen or become a theme on the ps4

When I was a kid I had nightmares about this screen, I'd be sucked into thwe screen and teleported to ranodm places xD Then me dad would carry me off lol It was so wierd I was scared of this xD
Me, a 6 year old, when I rent a game from Blockbuster and go home to play it but the disc was slightly scratched so then my PS2 sends me to the depths of hell because that's the only reasonable thing to do
So at my school's after school care, there was a PS2, and when the red screen came a child started crying and somebody else thought the console was possessed.
Jeez, that really is creepy >.> I don't think I ever had the disc read error screen or if I did I was too pissed off by the disc not working to notice the change in the "music" It sounds a lot slower and lower-pitched in tone, almost like the console is sick.
Whats always been strange to me is the beach like sound the play station has by default, and then the red screen just makes this console very very creepy idk why, plus the feeling of lonelyness that this gives, i kinda wish consoles these days had these back would make them so interesting to explore or trigger
It’s less scary when you the startup immediately transitions to the Red Screen. It’s scarier when you are either in the menu or the browser and all of a sudden the screen just fades to black and transitions into the Red Screen.
0:57 Man i am TOO familiar with this. The "Menu" loading but INSTANTLY fading out. i KNEW what this means and i KNEW what was coming. as a kid i would literally get myself into the routine of having the TV remote next to me "Just in case" and holy fuck the amount of times i scrambled for the remote to hit that big red off button for the TV. The red screen of death terrified me that much. Now a days...Not too much. Its more of a "Oh...well...fucking shit. That was unexpected." if and when the RSOD would come up once in a while.
I don't understand why when Startup is slow to read disk or when it plays the disc after menu while the red screen of death the red color is lighter & why the sound is different
It scared me when I was 6 years old me and my dad was about to play some mortal kombat Armageddon when I was 6 and the disc wasn’t loading so he cleans the disc he told me to put it back in so I did and it wasn’t working so this time I cleaned the disc and we got the red screen of death I remember I cried so hard my dad had to comfort me when we got the red screen of death I was crying so hard I piss my pants and my dad hold onto me until I was Better and happy what a nice dad he was too bad he got divorced when I was 12 he brought the ps2 and mk Armageddon with him ☹️👈

Luna: [In her room, upset] Oh, come on! Scary! [Luan is also in the room, laughing] Dude, stop hiding the PlayStation 2 RSOD in my boots! It's not funny!

..ugh just like the ps1's fearful harmony, i got haunted by this damned screen when i first encountered it... the low drone and the ominous red void that pretty much looks like a vortex to hell easily startled me and caused me to chuck the controller away then hide under my blanket and block my ears, hoping my older brother or anyone else comes into my room and turn the console off cause i was too shocked and didn't have the guts to turn it off myself. ahh, it's nice to revisit some childhood trauma after many years

The RSOD is Wave sounds from the beach
They're basically the same as the ambience in the startup animation.
