The thing that baffles me about Chris Stapleton is how he managed to fly under the radar in & around Nashville for so long without becoming an instant sensation. Take a listen to the earliest thing you can find him singing on & the talent is obvious. I bet a lot of record execs are kicking themselves in the ass for not having snapped him up years & years ago.
I love it when people react the same way I did, to one of Stapletpn's great performances( Jan 2006). He was only ~28 years old, and just starting to be recognized as a song writer. Yep SONG WRITER! Well with a voice like that, you need good material, might as well create your own! What he plays guitar too? Ain't no way this love is wrong and a version of Cry is also on these Cruise videos. Here's another good one, no band just Chris and his guitar - Chris Stapleton “There Ain’t No Easy Way” at CRS 2018
What you said: ''It's like his whole soul rises up to meet you face to face." That's truth right there. Your expression when you reached for the bottle after Chris said everybody take a drink...literally laughed out loud. Thank-you for this completely enjoyable reaction!
I'll always remember Al Anderson - the songwriter - nails it perfectly: "That's how ya sing that one!!" You're right - there are performances that are simply transcendent. He takes us along, and the simplicity of this arrangement leaves no place to hide, no turns to miss, nowhere else to go. Like Stevie Ray's TEXAS FLOOD at Mogambo - these two performances take us along and we just wanna go. And keep going.
Such an amazing talent I get goosebumps on top of goosebumps. Like SRV but in his own unique way he takes me on a magic carpet ride chalk full of ebb and flow and does it so effortlessly. He's seated leaning forward with arms on his guitar and elbows on knees. What the hell is that, lol? In all fairness he does take a breath now and again. I just love his style. Try to imagine him and SRV performing together. Let that make a few laps in your mind. The adrenaline rush would leave me weak as a kitten I do believe. Great reaction. Going back again and again is almost a requirement. Doo-dah!
immediately subscribed after hearing you say "When he sings, it's like his whole soul rises up to meet you face to face." I've been listening to Stapleton for a few years now, the emotion and soul in his voice cuts deep, and it's by far the best description of his talent that I've never personally been able to put into words before now. Thank you!
Back when he was a diamond in the rough. He’s channeling Ray Charles in this performance I feel. I know what you mean about him taking the notes exactly where you want them to go. It’s like he knows what you want to hear before you even know. A singer either has that, or not.
You'e right. I don't thing it's "all" about range and technique. It's about emotion...seeing it in the singer and having it make you really feel what they're singing...that's the deal, for me. It's art, and imo, all art should make you feel something.
You hit the nail on the head. The songs that hit you square in the face seem simple until they are done with the kind of passion Chris brings to everything.
I am really enjoying your intelligent reactions. Chris Stapleton is one of my favorites and I would love for you to do a reaction to my favorite, Either Way. Thank you
The look on your face at 2:15 in your video was priceless. I mean he is slouched over sitting in a chair & sings like that. WOW Thanks for doing this, young man. Happy New Year!
Feel like I need to throw somethin here. And I've heard this so many times. Think it was his reaction to it getting me excited about it all over again.
Also excited to think you might react to those 4-5 songs he wrote for others but performed when he was "struggling." Perfect for your other site; sent you the links in November all at once.
As always my friend, your always spot on with your review. It's amazing how long Chris went under the radar of us all. He is an amazing singer that reminds me of what we use to call singer songwriter's from the 70's ish. He is amazing.
Thank you and Happy New Year. God bless you are amazing and so honest. I love watching your reaction’s and I live in Boston and I am a big Patriot’s fan and of all Boston teams. Chris Stapleton is oh my gosh so amazing.
Please baby please check out Marcus King Band "Side Door" jam in the van session. Lol I stole the lyrics. Marcus King is for real Chris Stapleton and Stevie Ray Vaughn all wrapped up in one
Love your reactions! Please check out Tyler Childers-Nose on the grindstone from the vinyl sessions. Also Colter Wall-Devil wears a suit and tie from the brewery sessions. Both super young, both write there own music, and both are the real deal.
Welcome to 2020. Great way to ring in the year. Chris and JT did a video for JT’s song Say Something. It’s done live in one take and as a producer/arranger I’m sure you would enjoy it. And since it’s an official music video you might be able to play it straight through. Looking forward to sharing lots of great music with you and your subs this year.😎
I would like to recommend Jump Into The Fire by Nilsson and Stairway to Heaven ( live at The Kennedy Centre -2012 ) by Heart, an incredible performance.
U paused the video twice in about the same part in the song. When he says "woman that woman", after he repeats woman you pause it. He adds alot more flair into the repeat of that word, maybe thats what gets you.
I realize everyone’s different but ......I feel like I missed the boat on this Stapleton thing 😐 Was there some specific video where he did amazing? I hear an almost constant smoky gravely false vibrato which I tired of after about 30secs. Guitar licks aren’t memorable or smooth. Sounds like 200 other country artists. I hear off key notes about every 10-15secs. So now I’m confused 🤷♂️ My apologies for not jumping on the “love this guy” mindset. Upchurch could probably do this song better in his sleep. Thank you for all the lovely reactions Dramasyde! ✨
WOW SLAYER YOU ARE THE ABSOLUTE DEFINITION OF "DUMBASSERY. AS A MATTER OF FACT DUDE IT MUST SUCK TO BE YOU! GOOD LUCK WITH THE REST OF YOUR PITIFUL LIFE. PERIOD!
To be honest this must be my least favorite song I have heard from Chris Stapleton. Unfortunately this rendition sounds to twangy for me. While I wouldn't turn it off I just wouldn't choose to play it. But its still an incredible talent.
That's how you sing that one, Lol.😍😍😍 Lordy, he was just chillin', bent over in a chair and singing with that much power.

Man he can sing!!

Lord have mercy I love that man's voice!
Absolutely Amazing 🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️
He is a treasure
Anderson, playijng the guitar, co-wrote this with Stapleton. This was recorded during an artists' show during a cruise, of all things.
Good info! I loved the guitar here; perfect complement to the vocal.
And the guitar was perfect for this nice simple and perfect
I love him too

It is simple, when you hear or see other worldly talent it just resonates in your soul.
Let's play it again your reaction so genuine and on point. Chris so young just relax sitting down he killed it. Became one of my song love it
Thank you Christine!

Chris Stapleton “ the thrill is gone”🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Chris has another side to his singing abilities, southern rock. Check out the Jompson Brothers live at the shed "The River"
One of the best reactions of Chris Staptletons, ever.
The look on your face at 2:15 in your video was priceless. I mean he is slouched over sitting in a chair & sings like that. WOW Thanks for doing this, young man. Happy New Year!
