Welcome to the NItrogang's Day of speed runs. Today we have a newly broken in Traxxas Slayer pro 4x4 and my very own traxxas revo 3.3. We will be testing the claimed top speed of 45 MPH for this slayer pro. Can we beat it? These are both the same revo chassis, but the slayer pro is about half the weight, will it help against my all time favorite revo 3.3.

hahaa, hey my dude! I cannot blame you, when these run how they should, there is no electric that is funner. The 2-speed shift alone is worth the hassle. Plus you cant really yell over your electrics, so I can take my anger out on the nitrogang and yell in the vids, lol. jK.

Thats great that the Slayer hit 46.. I only got 40 out of my nitro Rustler and claims 50. Love the Revo I just got a 2.5 for a 100 bucks just needed a fuel tank lid O-ring now it runs great.
hey bro! Considering the rustler is a single speed, you are still doing quite good at 40 MPH. I used to have a 2.5 model years ago and I got 43 MPH, running lean. Traxxas doesn't tell people flat out that they need taller optional pinion gears, you know. Congrats one 2.5 REVO, I had that when it first came out, it was such a nice and fun RC. Nitrognag is happy for you.

That slayer needed a richer low speed since the idle was all over the place. Low speed needle is in charge of the engine returning to idle from high rpms and also accerlation from standstill to half throttle
hey bro! I've been tuning this Slayer little by little each run. The current LSN is set to factory setting. The problem is these traxxas carbs generally have a dual stage idle, and it seems to do that no matter what you do. I didn't really get into the 2-stage idle issue, but you just gotta rev it you know.

hey bro! Yup, the NitroGang wants you to run the slayer man. I gotta say, it's quite a great chassis, and handles well also. I cant believe it's half the weight of my stock revo 3.3. And yet my Revo is not much slower overall, that means the slayer could pull much taller gears and we will hit over 50 MPH soon.

yup bro!! The next few vids will not have any electrics at all. Only the strong make nitro videos because you gotta yell all the time, ahaha. I don't think the electric guys could handle that kind of stuff, they just whisper. The Nitrogang makes our presence known.

hey my detail oriented friend, haha! Ironic part is with the whole RC sailors issue when they got a youtube strike for calling the REMO hobby 1635 a Mini X-Maxx, I didn't get anything because I also did something similar just to see if Traxxas would harass me. The diference is RC Sailors called it a "mini X-maxx" in the video title which yo could clearly be lead to think it's an actual Traxxas product, you know. Because they have a Revo, and then they have a mini-erevo, so traxxas does use the whole Mini title in their names.
IT's like you saying your random old phone is really a "mini - iPhone", people would assume it's a real apple product. LOL.

hey dude, that T-maxx with the clicking issue you commented on in m instagram seems to be running great, other than the clicking. I guess it's normal, you were right. I will be mentioning your helpful comment in a future video. Nitogang!! I find it so weird this 2.5 classic Maxx model does that, I don't remember any other model doing that, do you?
@@hybrid32494 No I don't remember it in any other model.. maybe they changed something when they went to the gray transmission case. If it is bothersome and you don't use reverse, installing the forward only conversion eliminates that jerking/clicking. But I imagine you want to keep it all original🤘🤙 Love the videos man!! Cant wait to see the tmaxx in action!! And I would absolutely appreciate the shout out man!!! All I want to do is help and keep nitro alive!! #NitroGang

I had the Revo 2.5 and I lived @6K+ ft elevation, couldnt tune it. I live at sea level now and have the Slayer 3.3, its sick.
hey buddy! thanks for watching. Not sure what the issue with your revo was, but the tuning on all traxxas motors is pretty similar. You might have had some type of air leak causing it to tune poorly. Anyway, the slayer is sick! Have fun and keep the Nitrogang alive.

Buy an xmaxx and run two nitro engines and transmissions. One for each diff.

I put the Revo center diff in the Slayer it shows. The slayer with stock center diff is faster off the line.
And With the Revo Gears, 17 tooth bell clutch, and 38 tooth spur I was hitting 53 mph.

I would make the taller gear chang myself too personally, but that SLayer isn't mine, only the revo from this video is mine. But ye, in larger open fields like I'm running you really need the taller gearing, otherwise it just looks slow cause distances are so wide and open, you now! Nitrogang!!>

whats my dude! My prius has the upgraded JBL 9 speaker system from the factory with an amp. Only problem is the system does not have a sub. Years ago Best Buy had a audio installation system and sold "kicker" bazooka style subs for the prius that would not void the factory warranty. Unfortunately the complicated High Voltage system in the prius is not something I want to mess with, you know. Prob not worth the trouble. I'll just listed to the old Lincoln's THX audio instead if I have to. Nitrogang!
You might have lost on the pavement, but I'm sure the the Revo would KILL the Slayer offroad :)
Also, that sound system was pretty sick! I've never experienced anything more than 1k watts. Bet that was intense!

The Revo kicked some ASS after watching this video, kind of surprising really after you saw the dry weight of the slayer is literally half of the REVO, and yet it wasn't that much worse. They both have different gear ratios, and different wheels sizes, but I guess overall they perform similar.

Want more performance from your 3.3 engine? Swap put the stock carb for an OS 11K Carb (it'll also tune easier and hold a tune while giving u more power.. direct drop in).. Want more performance yet and with looks and a killer sound? Throw in an ERCM Pipe (the best Pipe u can get but expensive)..

Whoa your reverse works too? I had to workaround it by loosening screws that tie down the 2065/micro servo. Never had a problem since!

hey my dude! thanks for watching! Yes, my REvo 3.3 is in top condition, this is actually one of 4 revos I own. Two of them have the forward only kit, highly recommended, it will make the trans much more responsive btw.
@@hybrid32494 If I was interested on living on the edge all the time, I'd rock the forward only kit. In my life, my Revo is kind of a "cruiser" type of ride. That Slayer has gotten me thinking for those days I have some of Honey Boo Boo's go-go juice, though.
Love your content dude always entertaining. Im jealous your reverse works. I have a tmaxx and the damn reverse dont work. It will go in reverse when it first starts up but crazy thing is i dont have channel 3 on when it does it. Whacky as hell
It goes in reverse when it needs to warms up. No idea why lol. But after it warms up it goes forward lol
hey bro! Question for you, which model T-maxx is this? I think it's the T-mAxx 2.5 classic if I'm not mistaken, because the 3.3 models don't have reverse. Anyway, I recently met a buddy who just got the new t-maxx 2.5 classic, and it's got the weirdest reverse system which clicks in and out constantly, apparently it's normal. Tell me which model, because it sounds like you need to adjust your reverse shift linkages and tighten up or remove some slack in the servo linkage line on the reverse servo by moving the stop collars in some.
Uhh that is a good question i got it off of ebay ill have to try and see if the info is still up. It has a ofna picco .21 engine in it that means anything to you. I cant open up the info for it. Ill tighten up the link and see if that helps
After seeing this video I remembered this was the first thing that I ever like as a toy although I've never owned one I'd say that I'm going nitro and I really like the little truck

I just picked up a revo 3.3 it was bought new in the 90’s run 3 times and now I have it.
What is the first thing I should do.
I know electric models so I can test the electronics but after that I’m afraid I’m lost as to what to do first.

@@hybrid32494 looking at the 2 amps there, he's only running bout 900 watts max. The jl amp is 300 watts and the Rockford looks like like a 600\2. Im sure it still sounds good. Quality equipment in there.

hey bro! yes, it's a pretty Awesome chassis. Basically a REVO without all the extras and much lighter. Also handles very well at high speeds.
Tommro is the first run of my ofna titian my wife wants me to find another nitro basically a traxxas used something for her. she likes the slayer.gotta find one to work a trade.
Those are both great rigs. If i had to buy a nitro tomorrow I'd go with the slayer, solid rig, 2nd choice would be the revo, but on another day I may take the revo first, just depends. Every time I watch one of your videos I can hear myself taking inventory on my old nitro rigs trying to remember what condition they are in and what it would take to get em rollin again. Ha. Ar this point I'd probably just buy a new one, ha.

They reviewed a Remo mini S-maxx on their channel and got a community guideline strike (which is very serious business on TH-cam) because Traxxas lawyers claim to "own" the trademark s-maxx. Funny thing is I reviewed the same REMO RC and I called it a version of some Traxxas model too, and traxxas does not bother me, because I'm the Nitrogang Leader bro. JK. But seriously, a strike on youtube is serious and could be taken to court to prove.

hey bro! Yup, that's one of my Nitrogang Buddy's. He was a local viewer of mine who I met up with in real life and we have been doing speed runs since bro! The Nitrogang sticks together around here, you know. The revo does kick some AS* I will admit that, but the T-maxx 3.3 is more reliable since it lacks reverse.

hey my bro! I would say our speed results with stock gearing on the Slayer Pro are quite good, what brand nitro is that you're using btw? You could easily find a nice used revo 3.3, they are everywhere.

This question has nothing to do with this video, but is there any chance you know where I could get a carb for a .18 mmgt 3.0 engine? I can’t seem to find one anywhere.
hey man! I just searched for the .18 team associated carb and engine all over. Not even ebay has any. Since it's probably a common 18 carb, I would try any spare small block carbs you might already have. Often times most of the HPI .15 carbs fit, I've been using an HPI G3.0 carb in an old OS .12 CV engine for years, and t's fine.
I have a revo 3.3 and whenever I hit the brake it turns off I need some help I’m in the nitro gang I got a hpi savage x and a hpi hyper 21
whats up my fellow NItrogang brother! The issue you described could be multiple reasons. First you gotta check to see if your idle is not too low, it's possible when you hit the brakes the carb just closes too much, you need to raise your idle by turning the IDLE SETSCREW clockwise 1/4 of a turn to start with. Look up the instructions in the traxxas manual. DO this, and write me back, we will figure this out.

We can hate on their decisions as much as we want but reality is at the end of the day we all speak with our wallet. Since I've never purchased a new one I could bash them and still own them while not contradicting my views. you know.
@@hybrid32494 Agreed 100%. The cars are good but overpriced, and everybody has choice to buy it or not. If people would stop buying it, they would need to lower their prices. Google, Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Microsoft on the other hand, all have become monopolies and just buy up or put their competition out of business, their is no competition with them

Oh man that engine is suffering
Is it ok to run the trx 3.3 engine lean. Like half a turn on the low speed and 2 and a half on the high speed needle. Using traxxas top fuel has lots of oil content. Because you can’t run the engine rich while using traxxas top fuel. I feel like it might be safe because it has lots of oil.
I wnna get a nitro but I’m stuck between a slayer and rustler … any recommendations??
Hey bro. I highly recommend the nitro slash or the t-maxx 3.3 only for you. I have vids on both. The nitro slash is a ln extended rustler chassis with a 3.3, very good combo if you want a 2wd.

A 3 speed would sound so good on those cars
Why stop at 3? Make it bang off shifts like an F1 car and gear 1st to 20mph. Have 7th top out at 60 mph. Maybe come out with a 4cc version. Can even remove the Ez start motor and run it off the spur gear. You’d need a one way bearing in the clutch to allow the motor shaft to spin faster than the bell but won’t let the bell spin faster than the crank. Run the ez start motor in reverse to give it reverse and remove the reverse gear and servo.
I would hate for the slayer to get stuck on full throttle lol you wouldn’t be able to catch it
you right about that! Luckily the traxxas nitro systems all have very good throttle return springs, even if you have a radio issue or power gets disconnected the servo will return to natural. I've relies on this a couple times so far, btw.

hey buddy! Yes, the exterior looks very similar, you're right. The chassis is 100% different though. I recently got a used traxxas nitro slash to work on, you will see. The slayer is based on the Revo chassis, while the Nitro slash is based on the rustler chassis.
Makes me miss me original revo 2.5R... oh well, the standing backflips and 40 mph wheelies my erevo2.0 does more than makes up for that. Lol.

Yo bro can you help me with my brakes because it’s not grabbing hard like your revo. When I press the brake and pull the rc the wheels still move but you can feel little bit of braking. I adjusted the brakes both sides, the calipers are still good, it might be the servo.
hey bro! Got a question for you, did you adjust the brake linkage itself? Its highly possible the servo horn is not in the right location and thats why your adjustment is still not giving you any braking. Generally the linkage itself is not correctly adjusted. Also are you sure the threaded brake rod adjustment is as tight as it should be? The chance of the brake pad and caliper being bad is very low, usually the linkage is just not applying enough force.

hey buddy! That is just a fuel spout from a random fuel bottle I had. BTW the bones brew sells their own filler spouts for super simple fueling.
I need help my rc slayer turns off when I accelerate
hey my dude! It could be a result of a very rich tune. Do you notice alot of smoke and oil coming rom the pipe? Also how is the engine temp? Usually if the temps are under 190 you're running on the rich side which caused excess oil to not burn up and will tend to bog down and shut the motor off. Give me more info, but try to lean it out some first, (turn the high speed needle 1/4 turn clockwise).

hey buddy! If you're running the engine out of fuel you don't need to do anything else if you're running with a 2-4 week time frame. Generally if you're running more than a month apart you could put some after run oil though the carb and spin the engine over a little. But be very careful to not drop any dirt through the carb while you're removing the air filter (this typically will destroy your engine and pretty significant).
I need some help! I’m trying to tune my nitro slash because it’s very rich, very thick blue smoke and oil just leaks out of the exhaust when I’m done with it, but I was leaning it out and I felt like I was going to take the whole needle out! It did get faster but I don’t know if the extra amount of smoke is a good thing!
hey man! Thanks for watching, lets see if we can help you out. Alot of smoke is fine, but not to the point that the motor becomes very sluggish and tends to spit out alot of oil. You said you leaned it out and you saw the needle almost come out? That is not leaning it out, that is richening the motor. Lean is clockwise, rich is counterclockwise. You should always start about 3.5 turns from full closed on the high speed needle, then go from there. Let me know.
@@hybrid32494 yeah, I started from 4 turns out from all the way in, and leaned it clockwise. Although performance did feel better, the smoke and oil kept on coming, and it was very thick, not light smoke, I don’t think it affects it if this is a new motor as I’m doing this after I finished break in

All I know is the Nitrogang is cooler and better than the annoying bikers that ride around and piss people off on the streets. If they biker gangs want some, I will race their Harleys with my BAJA, 1/8 Mile. I had enough complying with the status QUO! time I say the truth, Chicks who use filters are liers and they are not princesses who can make a fake living thru their instagram influencing.
Nitro is just too hard to bash, ripping around in a parking lot is always fun but nitro just isn't reliable enough to really handle a modern day bash session. Can you imagine nitro in the skate park, ha, that would be hilarious.

As you know Dimitri, I absolutely HATE Traxxas' business model. Problem is, I do like Traxxas products. At least once the ridiculous out of the box weaknesses are addressed.
My personal form of protest is that I only buy used Traxxas vehicles and I try to avoid purchasing new Traxxas parts. I want to enjoy the hobby and the vehicles I enjoy playing with however, I want Traxxas to make as little, to no, profit from my purchase either directly or indirectly. This is just my personal opinion and my personal policy as it applies to Traxxas.
It's bad enough that Traxxas sells RTR products with ridiculously low quality parts that are not designed to hold up to what the vehicle is advertised or intended to do/drive away from. Very few Traxxas vehicles are actually "tough" out of the box. Many can be made tough but, for any reliability from a Traxxas RC, save the X-Maxx, they all need parts after the first good run.
I despise corporate bullies. Well truthfully, all bullies. I personally do not take well to attempts to force an outcome via a position of power. I will always push back and push back both aggressively and stubbornly!
I knew that Traxxas sued Arrma and that resulted in Arrma going bankrupt. I also know that it was actually done for the explicit purpose of crippling, who they saw as competition. Traxxas' lawsuit against Arrma was not truely about fair business practices or patients, it was really about tying things up in court and kneecaping one of their main direct competitors. I'm not sure on this but my understanding is that had Arrma been in a financial position to see the lawsuit to its completion, they would have had a good chance at winning the lawsuit. Ultimately Arrma went bankrupt, not because they were in the wrong so much as they couldn't afford to defend themselves any further thus settled the case while going belly up. This was Traxxas' desired outcome all along. I'm also not sure about this so fact check me, but the lawsuit wasn't so much the desigh of the lay down shocks but the name given to the design. IDK for sure if that's accurate or not. Regardless, I am so glad that in the long run, Arrma came back better than ever.
Does anyone know if Traxxas had a dirty hand in Losi's financial problems? I had thought they had with HPI, but I don't know for sure or what/why. Did Traxxas play any roll in Losi's financial issues or was it was just legitimate competition?
All of that said, this I find the most troubling. I knew that Traxxas threatened the RC Saylors in an attempt to suppress their constitutional rights to having an opinion and stating said opinions on their TH-cam channel. I however, did not know that they attempted to sue them. So you're telling me that, Traxxas tried to completely financially ruin a young family, because they gave an honest review of the impression they had of a Traxxas product? Now my understanding is that, Traxxas sent them 1 vehicle to review. The RC Saylors, I believe, only give honest reviews and demonstrate any shortcomings that they find. They are honest and fair but, they don't really set a very high bar either so if they say something is a problem, it is a problem. Anyhow, apparently they were unaware that Traxxas expects/demands only positive reviews of there products. Now again, my understanding is that they gave a positive review of the vehicle however, they expressed a less than positive experience with the Traxxas Batteries. As a result, at some point, Traxxas threatened them and even went as far as to say that if they even mention the Traxxas name in one of their videos, that they would be sued. Obviously this is part of the Traxxas corporate policy to intimidate bully and decimate anyone who gets in their way. Traxxas literally said, that if they exercised their 1st Amendment rights as citizens of the United States of America, that they would attempt to financially ruin a young entrepreneurial family via frivolous lawsuits that they could not afford to defend. Sickening IMO!
So, do you think Traxxas is a corporate bully? How do you feel about empowering them with your purchase/money? They may not miss my $, that however is not my point. I as 1 person may not affectually hurt Traxxas by not directly or indirectly putting profits in Traxxas' pockets but, it makes me feel like I'm doing the right thing in my mind. Again, JMHO!

hey buddy! YEs, the REVO and the T-maxx are both 2 speed transmissions. I recommend you pick up the t-maxx because it has a much more reliable 2-speed trans without reverse, it's lighter, cheaper, and easier to work on. T maxx is more a truck for fun and pull wheelies like nobody else! Revo is still a fun truck top but more performance oriented (trickier to pull wheelies) and easier to do maintenance on as it's more thoughtfully laid out and simpler

yo dude!! The slayer comes with a forward only trans, and honestly trying to put in a reverse into it would not be a good idea. I don't know if it would fit or not, but the reverse is the weak part of every revo. In fact I just converted mine to run forward only.

hey my dude! how you doing! Thanks for watching, well for the bodies im not aware of any bodies for the slayer. There are plenty for the slash 4x4, they might be the same. Its best to go with the stock body, it's got great cooling, looks fine, and holds up well.
