I agree with you, that is indeed beautiful! It solves so many everyday problems; We'll stop throwing away lighters whenever they are empty, we'll stop being depending on lighter gas / fluids, we can always charge the lighter, I mean, your house, TV, computer, wall sockets, cars, everything has USB sockets nowadays. And, you can charge it with your EDC Powerpack. The flexible solar panel on your backpack, etc. It's an awesome development, for sure! I wonder how the airport security will see it, in terms of "potential weapon" or risk assessment... Also, who knows, perhaps there will be secondary add-ons developed for it, things you plug on to the four anodes/cathodes, to use the power for other things?

Is that actually audible noise noise, or EMI (electromagnetic interference) in the microphone cable caused by the RF energy emitted from the arc (think spark gap transmitter) that gets recorded on the audio track of the video as an audible hissing sound?
***** I'm not sure, but that's definitely a valid question. It didn't seem like he could hear that really high-pitched noise in the video, but that could just be a personal thing.
Instabilities in the arc cause amplitude modulation of the signal. Amplitude modulation produces a signal above the frequency and a mirror image of that signal below the main frequency (called upper and lower side bands. A modulating signal with high frequency components (rapid changes in signal strength) will cause the upper side band to extend well above the main frequency, and cause the lower side band to extend well below the main frequency. In fact, some of the lower side band RF signal leaking into the audio cable could easily account for the hissing sounds that you hear in this video, that the video creator wouldn't have heard at the time of filming as the signal in question is an electromagnetic signal rather than an acoustic one.

its for people that have money and arent dirt poor.

Probably, the best feature would be that it's windproof, but other than that, it just looks cool. If you took it on a weekend camping trip and had nowhere to charge it then you'd be screwed.
