      @@aviationin4k258 they introduced a new plane with a new system because of new turbine orientation (boeing 737 max i think) but the pilots wouldve needed training in case this system failed but boeing never told anyone about this so when this system actually failed (which it did twice and led to a crash - twice) the pilots had no clue about what was going on
      and all this couldve been avoided if boeing werent in a hurry (they released/had to release a new plane because airbus released a new plane with better fuel economy)
      EDIT: found the video about it, heres the link: th-cam.com/video/H2tuKiiznsY/w-d-xo.html

      @@aviationin4k258 My best guess is that they rushed it in a similar manner that McDonnell Douglas did with the DC-10 widebody jets. That consequently led to serious issues related to design, as well as the loss of public trust with the type (or even McDonnell Douglas as whole). Airbus, on the other hand, is rather more cautious with the tests to see if they're any flaws before putting new planes into service (Boeing may've overlooked the flaws, especially with the MCAS on the 737 MAXes)

    • @Formula1st

      @@knechtnoobrecht-c137 well explained. Boeing did a similar thing with the star liner space capsule. Surprisingly bad mistakes that could have been easily avoided with simulations, redundancy and the like. Their rivals for that programme have already successfully flown crew, while they have a million lines of code to check (literally). The most important thing is to not rush and cut corners. To be both fast and safe, efficiency is what’s needed.

    • @wojciechmuras553
      @wojciechmuras553 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Formula1st There already are quite a few battery powered production planes out there. Just look at the Pipstrel Alpha Electro, or Virus Electro (renamed Velis in 2020, because duh). Those are in production, but don't forget conversions, like a Cessna eCaravan, which took flight just a couple months ago. And I'm not even counting solar planes, coz they've been around for years.
      Oh, and Boeing has demonstrated a flying hydrogen FCEV plane back in 2008. Airbus defo isn't first in this, although admittedly their concepts are by far the largest. Still, they won't have anything in the air for at least 12-15 years, while the eCaravan has already done quite a few miles in the air, and Alpha E is a regular sight in some parts of the world.
      Oh, and there are electric gliders. You know, instead of being towed into the air, they take off with a tiny electric engine and then glide like normal gliders. This is pretty common everywhere, although normal motor gliders are still more popular.

    On April 15, 1988, the Tu-155 aircraft made its first flight, the power plant of which operated on cryogenic fuel - liquid hydrogen. The NK-88 engine, which had no analogues in the world at that time, was developed at the Samara engine-building enterprise Kuznetsov. The initiative to create the aircraft itself, which used a cryogenic type of fuel instead of aviation kerosene, belonged to the Tupolev design bureau.

    My Honest Opinion on The Blended Wing Body Aircraft.
    The plane is incredibly ugly by its design. The traditional aircraft designs look better against the background of their beautiful and beautiful expression. In relation to the Blended Wing Body Aircraft, which most of all looks like a pacifier that has had 2 finger bones mounted on it where the tips have just been broken out of joint.
    It also has no windows, which I personally cannot accept as I need to sit by a window seat during a flight. And being able to document and record what happens along the way, as it is part of my experience of travelling.
    I also didn't think that the aircraft manufacturers think about the people who either suffer from a fear of flying or the people who are going out to fly for the first time and who might need a window to look out of in order to follow involved in what is happening outside.
    I hope that any Airbus Employees or Employees from other Aircraft Factories see this message and possibly ask their bosses to either drop these ugly planes, or at least put some windows in them, because if not these planes have windows fitted in them if they are put into service then I wouldn't put my feet aboard them.
    I hope that there are people out there who agree with me and have the same attitude towards these planes, and if you do, please leave a like in the comment section.
    And to those of you who thought I was overreacting and thought I should relax a bit in terms of my opinion on these planes, I don't care.

    Hydrogen and zero emission together are oxymoric considering how we produce hydrogen today.
    Besides, using electrolysis (to produce hydrogen) supplied by wind or solar energy is unrealistic (or just extremely expensive).
    The planes are very nice though but this is only for the "green" image of the company.

    • @echoech1319

    • @Crazy___Ginger
      @Crazy___Ginger 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still likely to be way more efficient than directly burning gasoline. Large powerplants can produce energy far more efficiently than onboard engines ever could. What I would be worried about is not necessarily the energy costs to produce hydrogen energy, but storage costs (due to its very low density), the cost to airports to buy new refueling equipment to support hydrogen, and how Airbus would handle the safety risks of Hydrogen being incredibly flammable / potentially explosive should a crash or fuel leak ever occur.

    • @btfo420
      @btfo420 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      gulag true that, but it’s just hard to know if hydrogen fuel would becoming a thing in future, considering now the making, storing and transportation of hydrogen fuel is extremely expensive and inefficient. More so than Lithium-ion batteries.

    According to the DLR, planes using hydrogen as fuel and emitting water as exhaust damage the climate just as much if not more than conventional planes. Do these concept planes exhaust water?

    • @syrrath8096
      @syrrath8096 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This depends on how you get the hydrogen. If you get it by splitting water with fossil fuel energy, its just as bad for the climate. If you however use algae to produce it directly from water and sunlight (see this: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biohydrogen#Production_by_algae ), its better for climate.

    • @syrrath8096
      @syrrath8096 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hermannabt8361 I think you understood something wrong. The contrails form because of soot particles in the exhaust. Soot is a byproduct of incomplete combustion of (in this case) something with carbon content. Burning H2 does not produce soot.
      The water in the atmosphere condenses because of these particles functioning as a condensation nucleus. Then, they freeze and block eaths heat radiation from reaching space.
      With a fuel that does not contain anything that can produce soot particles, like hydrogen (burned with oxygen) the amount and volume of contrails would be drastically limited to only form on whatever is already in the atmosphere, and whatever microparticles loosen themselves from the parts of the engine.
      Hydrogen fuel (when burned) produces nothing else than water vapour, and without anything to condensate on, there will be next to no contrails.
