Let's discuss the differences in characteristics in build and sounds so you can better choose any Zildjian Cymbal. For this demonstration, we're going to look at a three different 16 inch crashes that cover a wide range of sounds from Zildjian. And of course we'll have a ton of sound samples. In this video I'll be doing an in-depth product review of three 3 of these lines to help show the differences: * 16 inch A Medium Thin Crash Cymbal: amzn.to/41TdYbG * 16 inch K Custom Dark Crash Cymbal: amzn.to/3RIc9tt * 16 inch K Custom Special Dry Crash Cymbal: amzn.to/48bvxVD *If you purchase through the above links, I'll make a tiny commission. That'll make me super happy, as I could buy more drums!*
The 16" A Medium Thin was one of the first crashes I ever bought. I've had it for 40 years. It ALWAYS goes with me to gigs. I love the shimmer sound it produces. It's great for crashing as well as riding. I've used it for jazz, rock, alternative, top 40, blues... EVERYTHING. It's great with dynamics. My go to cymbal. It's paired well with the 17" A Custom, 17" K Medium Thin and 18" K Thin I've paired with it.
Love them all man! The special dry could almost pass for a China but I would happily use any of these cymbals. I can never forget going to music stores in the early 80's when I was just starting and gazing with awe at the beautiful Paistes and Zildjians that I couldn't afford then gradually building up my own set. Nowadays it seems that the young guys who've been playing for about a fortnight have a full set of Mastersounds or Ks 😂! Have just never lost my appreciation and really enjoyed the vid, thank you 😂👍
hope u understand 2 pick and match cymbals in a set by size and most important gram weight is how u tune cymbals, my set up is i have the lightest weight in every size to separate my self from all of u that will play medium and heavy cymbals, all yours sound good there also a lot of crashes its personal still put them all on the scale
Let's be honest here: Everyone here has a 16" crash because it was in their cymbal pack. Nobody has ever asked me to borrow a 16" crash. 10" splashes, hihats, 18, 19, 20 crashes, rides at least once a month. Nobody needs a 16" crash. And that's a fact.
Sorry to disagree, but 16" is probably my primary sized crash, granted I keep 4 sizes of crashes on my kit. Some people subscribe to the larger crashes, but that's not everyone.

I see we both like similar cymbals for 17" : ) But yeah, that A medium thin is a workhorse.
