I grew up in farm country. The county fair had sheep shearing competitions and like the man in the video, the end goal is to get as much of the fleece off in one large piece. Really enjoyed this video and the calmness and beauty of the event. I like the focus on the artists over the celebrity sighting and fan hysteria a certain big show gives off, which I find very distasteful and not the point of a wool festival. This type of show in this video is what I look for in an enjoyable fiber experience. Thank you for showcasing this wonderful event.
The calm vibe at this festival came through the video, so nice to see. I enjoyed seeing Karen of Seven Sisters Arts. She used to come every year to Stitches West and I had no trouble finding something at her booth to bring home. The yarn is a pleasure to knit with. The East Coast has so many yarn festivals that are within a reasonable drive time from major cities. Wish that was the case on the West coast 💚🙄. Enjoy all your new goodies!
Really enjoyed watching this fabulous Fibre Festival of New England. It was so adorable to see the animals on the show, and I especially enjoyed watching the sheep shearer and how the whole fleece came in one piece, very professionally done and with great humour too. ❤
Irina, thank you so much for the recap of the New England Fiber Festival, it is such a pleasant and well-organized event. I loved seeing the opening with Taleo Handmade indigo-dyed fabric from Laos, she's my booth neighbor and I always stock up on holiday presents from her.
Wonderful yarn and the festival looked like an amazing event. I do like the small town feel to it. Next year I hope to see a shearing in person. The sheep appeared pleased in the end to be rid of the fleece. After seeing angora rabbits at our local festival, our teenager wants one. Perhaps in the spring. The English breed with the cute ears are adorable.
