      I recommend watching Caitlin Doughty's video of bog bodies. A man confessed to killing a person, but that body was already 2000 years old and got chopped up in a peat moss harvester. It might even be the same body as in this video, actually.

    This is actually interesting because I remember reading about the most well-preserved bog body, the Tollund man in an encyclopaedia when I was little. How a body could survive for so long perfectly preserved fascinated me endlessly. It's one of the reasons why I pursued history in the future. Thanks, Ted-Ed for fostering the same curiosity and inquisitiveness in the future generations. Also, kudos to the artist for the wonderful animation

      ooh so humans bodies don’t decompose, and most died out by burning to death or something!
      Edit: I don’t know why I wrote that so weird, I was joking that future archaeologists ,that have no context of humans, may come across the body that didn’t decompose and assume that was the norm. And by that logic they might also assume that other bodies might have burned.

      @@whenitsraining861 they might have been able to determine whether it was poisoned or not. the reason why this is most likely isn’t the reason is because he died from serious injuries. poisoned food wouldn’t have been able to create such injuries.

    *The spaghnum moss is also called peat moss. Hence a peat bog...This is used as a soil conditioner which increases the soil's capacity to hold water and nutrients by increasing capillary forces and cation exchange capacity - uses that are particularly useful in gardening*

    I went to a bog and they told us be careful or you might just be a new body that is being added to the bog cause if you jump in wrong you can die in seconds but what made it scary is that they said they were joking but we all knew they weren’t cause that can actually happen

      I think that's a result of mummification used in Ancient Egypt. TedEd also has a video about that.

    I love the rough gritty claymation style of this video and the narration with it. This unique claymation style is very different than say…. The Gumby style claymation I watched as a child in the 80s but just interesting and fascinating to watch!

      @@Reijvi No, your corps is a waste of of space. It's better to decompose back into the earth or. Be cremated, it helps the environment and fertilize plant life. It helps the living then just taking up space and keep expanding creepy grave yards.
