    This is a 5.2 V8. The fan clutch I have is the Duralast with a lifetime warranty. I only recommend the duralast brand from them. Never get their budget parts (12 month warranty). Live in Southern California's hottest desert where temps are 120 degrees +... This fan clutch works like a dream. 100% Excellent part and I highly recommend it. Duralast lifetime warranty.My temp gauge stays right in the middle mark, even when going up a mountain road on a mega hot day..

      Your fan clutch looks like and sounds like a Hayden unit. From what I have researched, Duralast doesn't make fan clutches. AutoZone sells TorqFlo (Compressor Works) brand units with the lifetime warranties. Perhaps AZ just stuck a Hayden fan clutch in a duralast box and sold it to you.

    And, I just installed a new radiator from autozone. Its runs so cool that I cant believe it...

    I see you got your fan clutch from Auto Zone. If it's the Torqflo, just wait til next summer... your Jeep will be sounding like a semi truck. I also have a GC V8 5.2. The original fan clutch had lots of play and never engaged, so I replaced it along with the water pump (due to worn bearings). The fan clutch, just like yours was from Auto Zone. As soon as summer came along, my Jeep started to sound like a semi. When the engine got up to temp, the fan engaged and stayed engaged, even when doing 70 on the interstate. Normally fan clutches should release when the engine RPMs get high. This clutch stays engaged up to as high as 3500-4000RPM or above. I cannot blame the fan clutch completely as these GC V8s DO get hot in the summer. If I have to sit in traffic long enough on a 90+ degree day with the A/C on, the temp gauge will creep up to a tick mark or two past 210. And that's with the fan clutch locked. This is probably why the 5.9 limiteds come with only a large E-fan from the factory.

    • @PaperOverSleep
      @PaperOverSleep 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      is a tick over 210 normal with no ac

    • @CubeComputerChannel
      @CubeComputerChannel 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, not without A/C. If it only gets hot when sitting, it could be the fan clutch, but if it heats up when going down the road it could be the thermostat or possibly a dirty (plugged) radiator.

      Still runs and sounds exactly like it does in the video. I couldn't be any happier with the part. Make sure it's the DURALAST and not there economy line fan clutch.. all I can do is tell you my experience and how I did it. I'm just trying to help you guys...because when these overheat it could create multiple issues..

      I've watched a few of your videos and it reminds me of why I ditched the stock 5-blade fan altogether about 3 years ago. I pulled the fan blade from a 1998-2001 Ford Explorer V6, and modified the fan so that it fits within the Jeep's conical shroud. It involved carefully measuring and trimming away a small bit of plastic from the blade tips, weighing the trimmings on a gram scale to ensure proper balance, and making adjustments where needed. Paired it up with a new Hayden fan clutch and I no longer have the issue of the fan not wanting to disengage when it's not needed. The 11-blade Explorer fan also pulls more air than the stock fan.

    • @Eldomibori
      @Eldomibori 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I changed my fan clutch and it still gets over 210. Mainly with the A/C on. Not sure what to do. Could it be the compressor causing extra drag?

    • @knowledge5106_
      @knowledge5106_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Eldomibori that's what I'm wondering. I plan to install a new fan clutch and new serpentine belt on my 98 ZJ 4.0 to see if that helps with my AC running overheating issue and my going 70 with cruise control on and battery gauge going to max

  • @JacobEcret
    @JacobEcret 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried a fan clutch from autozone, no help. I had to goto a 180 flex a lite. New radiator, new water pump, new thermostat. Nothing worked. The issue is I live in a place where it gets 115-120 daily in the summer. So having the ac on isn’t even a question.

    • @knowledge5106_
      @knowledge5106_ ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you find a fix? I hope you eventually did. Issue with my 98 4.0L ZJ is with no AC temp stays about 190 and tic below 210. With AC and driving the temp creeps up and can over heat and the coolant reservoir can start to bubble. Upper and lower hose feel warm so coolant is flowing. No leaks. New rad cap tight and secure. Thermostat is good with weep hole drilled in the top 12 o clock position. Only over heats with AC on and driving and also when driving about 70 and using cruise control the battery gauge goes from 14 all the to the right and CHECK GAUGE light comes on.

    The only reason why they overheat is because they shoved a V8 in a small area that has little to no space for heat to escape

    How did you break the nut? The water pump pulley just spins. Can't lock it down to break the nut. The stupid fan clutch spanner locks onto the fan clutch which means the pulley just spins.
    Hoping for a play-by-play, not an after action review. Oh well.

    • @pitblvd
      @pitblvd  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The TSF Channel I used a huge pipe wrench.. there should be a small slot in the pulley that you can stick a screwdriver in to keep it from spinning.. Then smack the pipe wrench with a 5lb sledge hammer... Its reverse thread..

    • @TheTSFChannel
      @TheTSFChannel 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I found it. From my view on top, I couldn't see the four holes in the front of the pulley. Once I was able to lock the pulley, breaking the nut was easy. I wound up using a spanner wrench borrowed from Autozone. Thanks for the reply.

      no we cant figure out the problem i think its lak of air space under the hood theres no room for heat to escape

    • @pitblvd
      @pitblvd  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok, let me help you with this issue.. Tell me exactly what Fan clutch and Radiator you bought?

    • @pitblvd
      @pitblvd  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok, just realized you took out the thermostat... Put one in and then let us know.. Make sure its the exact part it came with. Some guys will put one that activates at a lower temp, but it will just make a code pop up (not reaching proper temp, is what the code will read if you use a lower temp thermostat)..

      if your fluid circulates thru the engine too fast it won't be able to cool properly....

    • @MHZ901
      @MHZ901 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@knowledge5106_ Yes had to get the engine down and rework it. it was leaking oil and water and that's main reason why heat was always up.

    • @knowledge5106_
      @knowledge5106_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MHZ901 I'm glad you finally got it fixed. Just did my fan clutch & serpentine belt replacement yesterday. Had the Jeep on an incline with the radiator up to burp it. Added some Rislone Hy-per Cool Super Coolant & bent the new radiator cap clips to help it seal better to the radiator to keep coolant from spilling out.
