Won't this cause the engine to run extremely rich temporarily? The downside of releasing the air to atmosphere is that it has already been metered by the mass air sensor, and when it blows off, the ECU will be injecting the wrong amount of fuel into the cylinders.
This happens when the throttle closes, in my opinion, IF it did, I feel like we would be talking about an almost unmeasurable amount of effect. Also from what I can see, these have no MAF sensor, they do use MAP sensors, Which on the pressure side, would see no change with the recirculation tube in place or not. And just to be clear I'm not saying you are wrong or I am right, just stating my point of view! Definitely a great question! Cheers!
It's just excess boost from the turbo. When you let off the go peddle the engine dumps the boost as fast as possible. Engineers designed an air recycler. But to not recycle the already filtered air won't hurt anything.
it can since your engine is expecting that extra air to go back into it. some you throw it out to atmosphere, you're run extra gas thinking the air is there. causing you to run rich. cars tend to come rich from factory as it is.
@@carbon310 the blow off valve releases air pressure under deceleration preventing damage to the Turbo. This is metered , computer calculations for best fuel air mixture are made and fuel is comanded. You release that metered air and you'll be running rich. Now the O2 sensors will see the exhaust is rich , this will not make your computer happy . Running your engine rich can over power the ability of your Cats ability to process that amount of fuel and will melt down . So yes , doing this can damage your engine and emissions system in a very shot time. Us losy gas mileage.

The 2.3 is enough in my manual transmission 2 door.. more than enough in sport mode! I think the 2.3 is a solid choice
