Clapton unplugged has so many incredible acoustic solos. "Old Love" and "Before you accuse me" come to mind immediately. But damn near every song has one.
I spent a couple years practicing all those songs at 19 or so. Went and got the tab book when I was playing guitar just a year or two but mostly did classical guitar .. it’s a masterpiece. I still love playing those that I can remember.
"Classical Gas" still gives me shivers, especially that epic guitar solo. 🎸😍
Not a solo per se, but Clapton’s Tears in Heaven is dirty. Such an emotional song, and I don’t think most people realize how hard that is on acoustic (or any) guitar.

I'm glad Innuendo made #1, but "39" is an underrated gem that deserves an honorable mention! The same goes for live renditions of "Love of my life".

I was surprised “Innuendo” took the top spot! That was great to see. If I were to choose my favorite acoustic guitar solo ever, it would’ve been the intro to Queen’s “The Night Comes Down”. That to me is the most awesome solo on an acoustic rock I’ve ever heard. I absolutely love it. “‘39” is is easily my favorite acoustic guitar song, though. Queen was just an awesome band with too many hidden gems people need to hear.

Whoa the fact that "To be with you" by Mr.Big isn't even mentioned on here is crazy.
I was wondering when Wish You Were Here was going to show up and while I am a bit disappointed it wasn't on the official list, the honourable mentions is definitely fitting because the opening solo and the middle one (used for the Pulse clip) still one of David Gilmour's absolute best. I'm also surprised that there were no Beatles songs included, George Harrison absolutely kills his solos on And I Love Her and Till There Was You, which are both some of their earliest songs and yet still shows that Harrison had what it takes to be a guitar legend at only 20 and 21 years old

Iron Maiden's Journeyman was a fantastic surprise when it came out. It was basically the first ever Acoustic song Maiden ever put on records, and stunned people by how great it was. Still a masterpiece to this day to sing along with.

The intro to Queen’s “The Night Comes Down” is probably my favorite acoustic guitar solo of all time. It’s so damn good. My favorite acoustic guitar rock song would be Queen’s “‘39”. I absolutely love this song and it’s easily one of Brian May’s best songs he sung. My favorite acoustic guitar song period is “Asturias” by Isaac Albéniz. Originally written for piano, but once it became an acoustic guitar song, it’s awesomeness really shows through.
Little Wing cover by SRV is my personal favorite. A masterpiece IMO
The opening acoustic guitar solo by Nancy Wilson of Heart on Crazy on You should have been on this list. In fact quite a few songs should have been on this list that weren't.
You forgot to include Hotel California (Acoustic) by The Eagles.
The acoustic version of The Eagles’ signature song is my dad’s favorite arrangement.
Instead of the usual fiery electric guitar shootout between Don Felder and Joe Walsh, we have a softer more classical sound for the solo at not just the end but at the beginning Don Felder’s finger picking sounds like something completely different ensuring us that Hell froze over.
Man that acoustic version is a masterpiece.

Got to throw up a shout out to the live version of Hotel California by The Eagles - they pull off the huge impact of the electric guitar solos at the end, all on acoustics.

Seriously? Of all time? That's your list? Yeah, they're all nice but I can think of several I'd include instead of many of your picks. Suggest that you do a youtube search on Roy Clark Malaguena for a start and then reconsider your entire list.
Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds instrumental "Stream" should have made the list. I still can't wrap my head around there only being 2 guitar players on that song.

'White Bird' by It's a Beautiful Day (1968) has a great acoustic guitar solo in it.
Nirvana Unplugged, Kurt Cobain: "I guarantee you I will screw this song up" before playing The Man Who Sold The World, and he did slightly, by one fret. Perfectly.

Hotel california hell freezes over version don felder. Just sublime
#10, plus, it was filmed in a REALLY historic place: the Ambassador Hotel where RFK was shot in 1968 by Sirhan Sirhan. The Ambassador Hotel isn't around anymore, as it was demolished in 2005.
#5, plus, if you wanna hear another iconic SRV song, "I'm Cryin'" listen to it BACKWARDS.
#4, plus, you could tell he played with emotion, not only because his son had passed in an accident recently, but the original session slide guitarist, Duane Allman, had passed away in a motorcycle accident not long after recording the electric version of it.
finally Year Of The Cat getting some recognition
Many years ago, there was a logo for an obscure home video company called Video Tour, which had a logo taking place in a starry space background and had a lush orchestra theme... that segued into a *beautiful* echoing acoustic guitar solo.
The logo was from the 80s and I only saw it on this site back in 2009 before it was taken down and never have been able to find it again since.
It doesn't help that it's confused with another logo (don't even know if it's the same company) called VideoTours that has a completely different jingle.
I've been dying to hear that pretty guitar solo again for years. I could almost swear Logicsmash was once the OP, but he doesn't seem to be.
BTW, fun fact; my late dad used to play the acoustic guitar.
I tried to learn after he got me one for Christmas when I was 13, but I never did :(. Adding to the craziness, my mom got me a flute for my 14th birthday and wanted me to learn to play it.
Ultimately, the piano became my better choice of instrument, though I never intended on abandoning the guitar or the flute (though the flute was trickier, as it's woodwind and required blowing).

You can’t talk about acoustic solos and not mention some of the great jazz manouche guitarists. Django, for sure, but also Angelo Debarre, Joscho Stephan, Stochelo Rosenberg, Jimmy Rosenberg, Birèli Lagrene…
I was about to comment how they should've placed Steve Howe on the list, because he gets the shaft amongst recognizable great guitarists. I didn't expect him to show up not with Yes, nor as the #1 spot. His acoustic playing is incredible, most notably on 'Clap' and 'Mood for a Day'.

1:24 "the ego is backed by huge sound and blistering shreds"? Guitar players do their best to get the best sound in a song, Slash has excellent simplistic solos like November Rain and Sweet Child of Mine, some of the most powerful in hard rock history.

Good list...though Year of the Cat isn't an acoustic guitar, it's a hollowbody electric with no distortion or overdrive...that's like calling a Gibson Les Paul acoustic just because it's played clean.

Tangerine on Led Zeppelin 3 is a good acoustic track. 39 by Queen is pretty good.
That Hip Hop track is not crossover with rock, it's flamenco guitar you heretic.
SRV is a legend without that performance. What makes it more difficult is using a 12 string acoustic. But then SRV used 13 gauge strings even electric.
