Great video! Mr McCulloch always a win! Last Days ive really enjoyed playing it and thought theme came through. Stargrave was fun and agree more to do than frostgrave which was my fantasy go to but Rangers of Shadowdeep might have now replaced that after reading through rules, so again thankyou for the books! It's not a test I've never heard of but looks brilliant and I love when a game has weird spins on game mechanics 🍄
Thanks for the comments as always. Yeah it seems like I am a bit of a McCullough fan boy, although I hate joining CULTS! Frostgrave is a fun game because the enviroment is trying to kill you as well. Having a giant worm come from nowhere because of a loot goblin can be hilirious. The Rangers and Frostgrave are brothers but distinctly difference like most kin. Rangers could easily become a simple roleplaying system with little effort. Ash Barker said it was McCulloughs frustrated RPGer coming through, or words to that effect. Glad you are enjoying the books and I hope your path into the Shadowdeep is a fun one.
thankyou for posting enthusiastic vids. It's fun to see some one nerd out about such a huge hobby. I started with a game called Majestic 13. I have yet to fully grasp the mechanics and fundamentals, but I enjoy it.
Thanks for those kind words. Yeah I know Majestic 13, by Snarling badger. Thats a fairly new game, so does that mean you have only just started out in the hobby? Its a good time to be getting into the hobby with all the options at the moment. Although because of the options I think decision paralysis would hit me fairly hard, if I was starting now. I am unsure of the exact mechanics of Majestic 13. After playing minis games for a while you start to see the similarities between games and it gets easier. I think my only advice would be, play as many games as you want, then reread the rules. Dont worry about getting every rule right the first few times. Also if the rules of the game are not right for you, try another one. Any question just ask, gamers in general are a fairly friendly bunch.
@welshminiatureboardgamer356 sort of.. haha.. I bought it I think last winter..I wanted an indoor project and I enjoy gaming in general. I havnt made it through an entire campaign yet. I play through one or two skirmishes and then put it away for a month haha
@@tommylud4324 I know that feeling. Wargaming ADHD lol! Thats another bonous to solo play games, when you have had enough, you can stop and not ruin someone elses game.
Thank you for doing this review- glad you did this. You showed Rangers of shadowdeap in a different light for me. I might pick that up finally. Please give another look at 5 parsecs and 5 leagues- I think you’ll see that it’s more systematic than your initial thought.
Thanks for the kind comment. I am glad I can help steer you towards Rangers of Shadowdeep. I am not going to say its a game for everyone, but I think you get out of it what you want to put into it. I will read through the rules of 5 parsecs again. I will see if I was just in an odd mindset when I first read through it. It happens. Different games come into your life at different times, sometimes it was the wrong time. If you are interested in Rangers of Shadowdeep. I will be running through the campaign, starting in a couple of weeks. If all goes well!! Best wishes.
Thanks for the kind comments. Yeah both Frostgrave games are a good choices. Plenty of things to make the games feel new each time. Plus you only need the base books to play! Finding players is always a problem and one I cant really advice you on. I play with family, neighbours and even meet someone while picking my kids up from school once Amazing how gamers notice the drybrushing on the back of other hobbiests hands.

I used to play Mordheim.
I enjoy Necromunda but there's so many books and Noone around me plays.
