    The script in the back is Arabic.
    This radio is popular in the Arab world (in remote areas) because of the look, performance and long battery life.

    This is an interesting radio for sure. I'd love to know what the differences are between the RF-562, D, DD, DD2. I have the newer or newest DD2 and it lacks the 60m band and is DSP.

    The video quality was fine Tom. Your camera works good and the audio volume was better than usual. I agree that the plastic finish was probably a little on the cheesy side. My Sangean has the same quality. At least fingerprints and stuff won`t show up that badly. My overall view, after about 30+ years of SW listening, the Kaito KA1103, older version with PLL tuning, is the best buy for the money. Even though it is not too ergonomic. You sometimes wished you had three hands to operate it. My radio has taken a tumble or two and I had to replace the antenna and it still is plugging along. The ferrite bar AM antenns is broken, but still works. AM DXing in the early morning hours is excellent, as well as FM. Shortwave, when conditions are right is also fantastic. The SSB function is very handy for hams. There are a few shortwave broadcast stations that operate on upper sideband, too. The KA1103 can`t be beat with a good long wire. It outperforms the Sangeans that I have. How about a look back at the KA1103, in depth. I would enjoy it.

      Thanks for the suggestion. I will be glad to do another show on the 1103 as it is a good radio. Now I just have to find it.

    Hello, the video is very good and I love the radio. But it's getting difficult for me to get.
    The difference between the RF-562D and the RF-562DD is that the first can only run on batteries and the second can be connected to the mains.
    If you know of anyone who sells the RF-562D or RF-562DD models, thank you. It's happening to me that sellers publish those models and then send you the RF-562DD2, which is crap.
    Greetings
    Juan

      This is perfect for emergencies.
      The 2 “D” batteries last a very long time,
      AM ( MW) is outstanding,
      and SW is quite decent for this type radio.

      @@jeffking291 I haven`t noticed any soft muting on fading nighttime signals with the Sangean PR-D4W but there is using the Panasonic and the Sony but the Sony was much worse than the Panasonic. I tested the Panasonic against the Sangean again last night and the Sangean is more sensitive but you have to really pay attention to notice it. The PR-D4W is a great radio for nighttime DX and all three are great for long range daytime reception. Get them far away from RFI and power lines and they`ll blow your mind.

    The fact that the term "MW" is on the dial combined with it going only up to 1600 kHz tells me this radio was probably originally intended for European markets.
    Yes, maybe the plastic with the chrome plating is a little so so. But, if it was made of metal, the price would be much higher I'm sure.

    • @hamrad88
      @hamrad88  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jeff said it was for Indonesia and it was made there according to the box. Wasn't looking for it to be metal but this type of chrome finish comes off easily but then again that is what they used in this time frame. Thanks and have a good day.

    • @tristan6509
      @tristan6509 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure AM is an American term, the rest of the world uses "MW", this is because we also had "LW" which didn't catch on in America

      @@hamrad88 yeah this radio, or atleast it's older brother (the National R4250Y) was a VERY popular model up until the early 2000s in Indonesia, electricity outside cities was uncommon back then so battery powered radios like these sold like hotcakes
      Televisions were a luxury item and in a village only 1-2 families have one, but as more and more people have television and Internet acces these radios sold poorly
      And you can clearly see that effect reflected on the quality of these over the years, the national units were indestructible but these newer ones are made of pure junk. The plastic got thinner and they recently started making DSP based radios which has bad sensitivity.

      @@hamrad88No, even if there is no electrical disturbance Panasonic of 1990s onwards will show background noise due to the IC used. Previously transistors were used, so less background noise.
