    240 grams of carbohydrates is more than I get in a week and a half. This way of eating truly is the most simplistic way of eating.

      That amount would be enough for me for 2 weeks. And these people are probably snacking at least twice a day on top of eating like he mentioned. Watching this while eating pancetta fried together with Italian sausage. Love Dr. Berry.

    I have been sharing your videos with my 80 year old mother for more than a year. She decided to do keto two weeks ago. She has been able to drastically cut her insulin and blood pressure medicine already! She is feeling much better in such a short time! Thank you for your videos. They are making a difference.

    I work at a health care facility for short term and long term rehabilitation and senior living. This morning for breakfast while I was passing trays to patients (even those with diabetes) , let's see ... we had cinnamon rolls, oatmeal, orange juices, cheerios, just to name a few. The patient then usually returns to their room where they nap and in a few hours can get up and eat an equally unhealthy lunch. By the way , we have a full time registered dietitian on staff. Has to make you wonder if they are trained by the pharmaceutical companies.

      It's so true of all the hospitals I've personally seen over the years. Was at one for my son's surgery for broken arm last year. He was served pasta, salad with soybean oil dressing, juice, fat-free milk, bread, fruit and cobbler. I went to cafeteria for coffee. There was no heavy cream, no stevia, only fat-free milk, sugary oil-ladened fake creamers. Of course there were sodas, muffins, pastries, chips. NOTHING healthy beyond bottled water and fruit, if you call fruit healthy.

    I came across one of your videos in late November 2019 about the carnivore lifestyle. I liked the theme, as I LOVE meat and have always had it with every meal. I've struggled with my weight since before puberty (I'm 50 now) and I think I've tried all the "diets" out there over the years with some success, just no sustainability. As you've stated, starvation doesn't work, in the long term. My wife and I decided to make a lifestyle change on December 7th and haven't looked back. We both feel terrific and have lost substantial weight. She's down 51lbs and I'm down 40lbs. so far. I'm relieved knowing I'm no longer poisoning myself with the "food" I used to eat. You, Dr. Cywes, and Dr. Fung have provided us a plethora of information, advice, and guidance above and beyond any other medical professional in our lives. Thank you for all you do.

    Dr. Berry I like the way you present your videos and they have been very helpful. I first saw Dr. Jason Fung on TH-cam early last December and I was convinced that this guy knew what he was talking about so I threw away my Januvia, glicglazide, and pioglitazone accupril and went cold turkey onto a Keto diet. Not knowing anything about it, it wasn’t easy it took me 8 weeks to settle in comfortably into ketosis and it was pretty horrible during the conversion from sucrose to ketosis. During my journey I’ve discovered Ekberg, Berg and Bos all Drs. With much to offer. Then I found yourself. One of the most down to earth people and a Dr. to boot that I relate to and find you very encouraging and share you with my friends and hope they too will follow your advice. I have been off those damned drugs since Dec. 6 ‘19 and now feel great. Thank you for your fantastic and free advice which is very generous of you to give it to the world. Lastly I’ve lost 45 lbs in 6 weeks, I don’t know where it went as I wasn’t trying to lose weight it just disappeared I’m 175 lbs instead of 215 to 220 lbs which I’ve been most of my life and pre diabetic and then T2D since 1980.

    My ex-husband was diagnosed with diabetes years ago. They did standard of care, metformin and a cholesterol med-without checking his cholesterol. Then, the nutritionist gave him example menus of what to eat: breakfast: cereal, fat-free milk, fruit, toast with no butter; lunch: turkey sandwich, light mayo, lettuce, tomato, fat-free milk, fruit; dinner: turkey or chicken, potato, light margarine, a roll, carrots, sugar-free jello. I asked them if they were trying to kill him!

I really believe she just does not want to make as many changes and cuts to the way she currently eats. Yet she complains about having diabetes, and she is scared for her brother as he has it too, and he is also close to 500 pounds. They both feed each other's had habits.

    It took me over 20 years to discover that if I eat over 30 grams of carbs per day my arthritis pain goes up substantially. What is really fascinating is that if I eat two slices or regular pizza, a big bowl of ice cream, or 3 pieces of sugary fruit, then in about 5 hours I will get this throbbing pain in my knee, where it is bone on bone. The throbbing pain actually feels like somebody is pinching at that particular spot with a pair of miniature tweezers. The pain levels goes from less than 1 to about a 6.
    So what about all those years where everyday I ate more than 30 grams of carbs, and often 300 grams per day? Every single day my pain level was being increased dramatically, just by the darn carbs. I wonder how many people , besides me, this applies to.

      I have heard this many times and the thing that still disappoints me is the fact you people can’t eat fruit without suffering.
      I mean sure, ice cream and cookies give aches and pains but why do fruits? Is it really the carbohydrate content or is it because most fruits are genetically modified. GMO fruits have a lower vitamin content and higher fructose content than their non-GMO cousins.
      But even then, it is the high fructose causing the issue.
      So is arthritis a metabolic dysfunction disease?

    After reading an article in the AARP Bulletin magazine this month I decided to never read it again. It lists a low carb diet and high protein diets as a health risk due to being more likely to develop moderate to severe "big C" infections compared with those following a plant-based diet filled with fruits, veggies and whole grains. I knew it was not the truth. But how many senior citizens will read something like that and believe it? I always check what you have to say about something first. Thank you for what you do!

    In Sweden, it has been suggested that cholesterol, yes, even LDL, is one of the most important corner stones of the immune system. Especially important for the respirotory sytstem and of course now against this new virus. It has also been suggested that statin use might be a quite common denominator among those that have died from this.

      @@xxx1x47x41x3 the equivalent to fda in Sweden recommends that 45-60% of the recommended amount of energy in your food comes from carbohydrates. being quarantined eliminates restaurant meals, which were my cheat meals. I'm eating better than ever. Zero grains, vegetable oils, potatoes, or beans. One serving of a low sugar fruit/day (berries or grapefruit). But I've been eating more root vegetables. What do you think of tubers: carrots (very low glycemic load), rutabaga, beets, turnips, jicama, onions, celeriac? These have a glycemic load that is a small fraction of a potato, but they do have a few carbs. I'm at a healthy weight and I have been doing keto since Jan '19. Down 35 pounds.

      Hi, congratz on losing 35 pounds! I think if your weight is good, you can eat more carbohydrates. The veggies you mentioned are awesome. If you still wanna be in deep ketosis, exercise before you eat them carbs and they should go right into your muscle. Good luck sir!

    Agreed. I have had more benefits from this way of eating than I can count.
    Since everyone will eventually be exposed to this virus (can't hide forever), it is more important than ever to start eating a human appropriate diet.
    I have shared this with all of my English speaking friends and family.
    Thank you for all your good work.

    I'm interested in trying this program. My concerns are getting enough vitamins and minerals. Would I be allowed to eat any fruit? Also what would be a recommended carbohydrate target to stay under. Any other comments or suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you.

    I have been doing keto; mostly carnivore-no sugar and near zero carbs , one or two meals/day, no snacking & walking daily for almost 3 months now but my blood sugar is still continually 140-180. No meds and was trying to keep that way. I feel great too. Frustrating. Any advice would be appreciated!

    What kind of sauces can I use on the meats? I'm not sure why, but I've never been able to eat meats without something on them because I can't handle dry foods. I Know meat is moist if cooked right but it's still dry to me. This has been ever since I was a kid. I love meat but a lot of sauces are sugar loaded like ketchup. Thank you for any suggestions.

    • @Sweetest_of_Seven

      My first suggestion is to not overcook your meat. I really enjoy butter with meat… usually slathered on top or a raw egg yoke… ONLY the yoke!

    Hi Dr Berry, I want to help my dad to follow your dietary Recommendation’s but he has an artificial valve in his heart so he’s on warfarin to keep his blood thin and not allowed to eat a lot of dark green vegetables because of this, so what could you recommend for someone in that situation? Oh by the way he’s also diabetic Type II. Many thanks Sam x

    • @AlbertKingboss
      @AlbertKingboss 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, I think Dr. Berry would say carnivore is perfect in this case.

    • @sclund8157
      @sclund8157 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No need to restrict any food on warfarin as long as it is consistent. Warfarin is adjusted to diet, not diet to warfarin.

    I'm not understanding how doing carnivore and consuming so much protein can work? Doesn't too much protein convert to glucose? I've been doing carnivore and not really seeing changes in weight am I getting too much protein? Keto is less protein so which is better?
