How I clean and Store my Elephant Garlic| Grow Your Own Elephant Garlic| Backyard Veg Plot UK|
Today being rather wet, its not really possible to do any outside work in our Back Yard Veg Plot but what I can do inside, Is clean and store our Elephant Garlic (which was planted last November 2023 and lifted on 9th July 2024).
Due to the wet summer I have had some surface white rot on a few bulbs, but these can be rescued by peeling off the outer layer of skin.
I save the 'rounds' and some smaller cloves for re-planting this autumn. The corms can be grown on and in 2-3 years will produce full size bulbs.

Fab harvest Woody 👍👍. You have loads of future elephant garlic there, will you pot them up to wait out their first year or two?

I usually keep the large rounds and a few smaller cloves for replanting, but will definitely try some of the corms this year too. I went back and cleaned up all the cloves that had some white rot and they came out lovely!
