There was nothing funny at all about Corner Gas--everytime Butt's father said "jackass"-I turned the channel-I never understood the humor in this-just plain stupid
I came across this show by accident on You tube. I started watching it because I thought it would be really bad and discovered that it was one of the funniest shows I had ever seen. I live in London (in the UK) so I obviously don't have much in common with Canadians living in a small Town, but I think the humour is universal and would be enjoyed in the UK. It's a shame that it has never been broadcast in Britain.
Canadian humor is actually really great, they took a LOT of notes from you Brits, but a lot of their stuff is even *more* surreal, somehow - just look at The Kids in the Hall. I live in Buffalo on the border with Canada, so we get a lot of their stuff here. It's great. Corner Gas is a treat, though, it really is an incredibly funny, likeable show.
I'm 59 and watched a lot of TV in my time but this is the only show I just love learning everything about the show. The characters are perfect. One of my favorite scenes is Hank and oscar doing the census. priceless. Just one problem. I have watched all 6 seasons over and over , animated and movie. it gets old but Im hooked on hanging out at corner gas. Thanks for the show.

It was absolutely huge in Canada while it was on, and then there was hype on the Prairies when the movie was released. I'm a big fan (and appeared as an extra in a few episodes). Not sure how well the animated version has done, but it's been on for a few years now.
Discovered it one late night on WGN (Chicago) in 2009. I chuckled a bit and then the "Gopher It" episode came next and my life has never been the same. Well, the same but with an urge to visit Rouleau, SK. Welcome to the Family, yo!
So glad to see some Americans get the humour in Corner Gas. Some just don’t get the lines amd the jokes and believe it or not and I find it hard to believe but some people up here above the 49th just don’t get it either. It was a hilarious show and it doesn’t matter how many times you watch any particular episode there is always something to laugh about, often it’s a line or a joke that you never quite caught before. I guess some people just have no humour in their imaginations.
From the US I'm on the last 3 episodes of the 6th season again - 2nd time through in 4 or 5 years. Also just binged the 3rd season of the animated version. Best sitcom of all time - by far. I share it with those friends of mine that are both smart and have a great sense of humor. They love it too!

@@longliverocknroll5 the show sucked and you notice how Butt's other "creation" Hiccups barely lasted a season. I actually saw Butt booed off the stage at a comedy club in Hamilton once--so not everyone was "enamored" with this crummy show

The guy that played Hank had his own show after corner gas ended but it only lasted a couple of seasons supposedly set in a small Ontario town, it lived up to Corner Gas which would be hard to do.
I found the animated version first and even though I'm really excited to watch the original and movie, I'm not excited to get to the end! I instantly fell in love with this show.
Just for the record I wanted to mention that each and every time the town Woolerton ......excuse me ''spit'', was ever mentioned I never missed a spit including just now .

I used to watch Street Legal, from time to time, and think that he is effortless at both dramatic and comedic performances, such a great actor. May I ask, will there, or has there been made a tribute video of both, Mike O'Brien who had played Wes, and Beth Chapman from Dog the Bounty Hunter, even though she was in a short cameo? Love the series, and hope to watch the upcoming third season of the animated series. Take care, and stay safe.
holy christ, I just realized that Oscar listened to Brent tell the tax man to go over to Ruby's for pie, and then immediately went out and told hank he needed help but they couldn't talk there, in the privacy of the corner gas side lot and under the hood without being overheard. Instead he brought him over to Ruby's and proceeded to yell about his conspiracy against the tax man, less than 12 inches from said tax man. Comedic genius.
Why isn't this show on cable TV ?! There was a station that ran it years ago, and I found it to be one of the most hilarious situation comedies I ever saw ...... I miss it very much .....

There's only 1000000 people in Sask, maybe 1010000 in a good year (don't crucify me, I haven't looked up the latest stats!), but MANY people have connections to this province. I lived 30 years there. Yes, born & raised. I saw Brent Butt at Louis' at the U of S in 1990 or 91. I hoped he would go far! FYI, I didn't go far...just over the border into AB.

Absolute garbage. Saw this on Prime and gave it a go. Could only get through 15 mins before having to switch off. Also it looks like it was filmed using a potato.
What this world needs is 10 more sitcoms like Corner Gas.
