    This video saved me $400!!! I had actually put my grill up for adoption, but nobody wanted it. After poking around some of the other videos, this one was so clear, it gave me the courage to dive in & do it myself. Replacement parts for burner, ignition/starter, flavor bars, grates & drip pans + liners cost about $200. The replacement Weber I had my eye on was ~$600+. Gotta say it is a RIGHTEOUS FEELING to fire up my new guts (on so many levels) grill. Thanks for the great video instructions. I'm a 61 year old former tech writer----if I can do this, so can you!

    I've always had my eye open for a new propane grill but I've kept my 25 year old Weber Silver is still going strong. I have a stick burner smoker, pellet smoker, Weber kettle, flat top grill, and open firepit for all kinds of grilling but there is no need to upgrade your propane grill if it is solid and still does the job. 2 things that are a must for this grill: 1) cast iron grates and 2) for the pros that know exactly what they are doing (and I don't recommend this for the average bbq guy): unregulated propane hose for those moments when you want to get a 700 degrees sear.

    This video is perfect, straight to the point and clear. We have had our grill for 15+ years. This is our 3rd time buying parts for it. The website is great to navigate, to find exactly the model and the parts. This time I found this video and was willing to try to change the igniter that does not work for a while. Great job on your order process too.
    My only suggestion is to put the video in a more accessible place, because it was embedded in one of the parts and it covers much more than just that part. Keep up the great work and quality!!

    I prefer those old push igniters over the battery ignited ones they went to after the silver series I believe. I've had a silver one for over 25 years and replace the igniter maybe three times. I just got a used Genesis s310 and needed to do the igniter right away because it was dead. It seems to me the old push ones are much higher quality you don't need batteries to run and they never fail to start

      Hi Mike, apologies for the delay.
      You can find all of the parts for this grill at www.grillparts.com/weber - then just use the grill finder & select "Genesis" for the model, and "2" as the number of burners. This is the only 2-burner Genesis model - some look a bit different but all have the same internal parts.

    My dad just gave me his Weber grill that he bought in 1985. He hasn't used it for the last 20 some odd years.It was outside for the 35 years that he owned it. It was protected by a bbq cover. The only thing that I had to replace was the hose and regulator assembly. BTW, my dad was a tool and die maker and replaced all screws, nuts and bolts with stainless steel ones. As well, he replaced the original "flavorizeer" enamelled angle bars with .5 cm stainless steel. Apart from some rust and discolouration of the bbq lid, this bbq is almost like new. Is there a safe way of painting the metal parts? I plan to paint the legs with rustoleum type paint but I don't know how to refurbish the black enamel lid or the sides. What should I do? I do not want to sell this bbq ever. It was the first bbq my parents bought and I want to treat it like and heirloom. When I lived at home as a young adult, my parents finally felt that they were financially "comfortable" enough to be able to afford a gas bbq. This was their one and only gas bbq and today, I was able to grill our family lunch. It's a keeper

    • @grillparts
      @grillparts  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your best bet would be to use BBQ paint and go for a flat black finish. Re-enameling the grill is a pretty tall order, even for an experienced sprayer.

    Hi - how do you change the thermometer? The original one on mine seems pretty wedged in so I don't know whether to use some old fashioned brute force to get it out (i.e. a hammer) or if I'm missing a smarter way? I have a replacement with butterfly wing nut.

    • @grillparts
      @grillparts  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you know what model you have? This is a Silver A, so it has the thermometer on the right side that just slides out - but it was stuck in there pretty well. If the replacement you have has a wing nut, you have a different (probably newer) model.

    I've had my Weber it's a 3 burner Weber since 1995 and unfortunately all the bolts that are inside of it are so rusted they fused themselves to the other parts and I'm afraid to touch any of them with the risk of it just disintegrating on me unfortunately I think I'm going to have to get replacement grow or a new one altogether I would love to but disabled it took me a long time to buy this Grill so it's going to take me three times as long as you get another one but but the best grill for the price No Doubt I've replaced a guts about 6 times over the years including the ignition starter the last time I did it I got super thick flavorizer bars and those things still look almost a new shape and they're over 3 years old

    I don't have a a Weber but one of the Brand X generic gas grills. I wouldn't have replaced the burners as you can clean those out with water or pressurized air and they really ought not to get too dirty. I got my grill from some friends who'd never cleaned theirs and were throwing it out because they got a bigger and better one. The grease pan holder is rusted to the point where the metal broke off it that holds it to the large pan above it. The pencil size burner that connects to the 2 larger burners is rusted out to where it can not attach to the one of the larger burners. The grill cost $379 new which someone purchased in 2004.
