New subscriber here! I freeze store bought green chillies as I haven't had much luck with growing them yet. When you freeze the red chillies can you grind them for powder later? Or will those chillies also be cooked directly like the green ones?
Hi dear, thanks for subscribing to my channel. Anything you freeze has to be used in cooking. If you’re freezing fresh red chilies, you can’t make powder from it. But if you freeze dried red chillies you can take out of the freezer and make powder from it but there’s no necessity to freeze dry chillies unless you have abundant dry chillies that you want to protect from the bugs.
Ashwanti, there are 6 plants in those three pots with 2 plants per pot and those are my main producers. I do have small chilli plants ( planted in June)that recently started ripening since the beginning of September. The pots are large sized nursery tree pots . If you see my garden tour video, I have ginger growing pots right, that’s the exact size pots I m growing chillies.
Hi, yes we consume all the chillies. Our cooking involves using chilli powder in pretty much every dish. I powdered the dried chillies and stored a gallon size bag in the freezer for future use.
Hi Lakshmi, I use regular 50/50 mix that you get from landscaping company. I make homemade compost and use a little bit of that along with fish fertilizer. Nothing else actually!
Great explanation. So once it is dry, can you make it into powder? Can you then freeze the powder to keep it friesh, thank you!@@Myhomegarden-unlimited

It must be the perfect climate for chilis, they are so impressive. which general location are they growing?
Thank you so much! Yup it gets so hot and humid in North Carolina which chili plants love.
Hema, how many plants do you have? Will you overwinter your plants? What's the pot size?

Thanks Hema.
Sorry I forgot to mention I am not overwintering my chilli plants because I am also occupied with maintaining my other tropical plants during winter.
hi! so how many days before its totaly dry under the sun?
If you have sunny days continuously, 10 days drying is good enough.
I thought you Will steam them before drying
You consume all the chillies by yourself or is it getting more and more?

@shoayb4146 thanks! Yes I powdered mine and stored in a gallon size ziplock bag and put it in freezer so that it doesn’t get bugs in it.
