Amy, it's okay if you do you and don't post a video every day. You are one of the few who do. Others post once a week. I admire you and will continue to watch

In my opinion, where you have the food in the pantry is what looks like it works for your family and use the kitchen cupboards just like you have it. Once you get your freezer where you are wanting it, you could always buy a pantry cabinet to move some of your food to.

I agree with this comment. We moved our to a lower cabinet and it’s hard to see what we have and yes stuff gets lost in the back. We end up having to sit on the floor to get stuff out

Greg’s domain is the garage…I would still put the freezer in there as well. He said he would and he eats the food too? Would make such a difference in your kitchen. You could have a cute little table to sit and look at your pool and have coffee.

Ideas: Top shelves for fancy serving dishes, Christmas dishes, wine glasses etc. Pots next to stove, dishes close to sink or dishwasher. Tall closet next to fridge for food, saran wrap foil etc. Dish cloths and placemats in drawers. Far left bottom cupboard near sink for pots and pans, corner will be hard to organize. Corner for bowls and strainer. All machines in Buttlers pantry, utilizing all shelves. Also consider putting baking sheets and muffin pans, cake tins etc. Extra paper products, towels, plates and cups here? So many possibilities, it is like a jigsaw puzzle, and will fit eventually. P.s. Amy.. please leave the shower door open when you clean with chemicals of any kind. As someone who passed out cleaning with bleach and comet cleaner. Better even leave a window open. Hope I don't come off as bossy, just wanted you to have one more opinion. ❤ya

See, I was thinking the same thing for the pantry beside the refrigerator, but I was thinking about using it for snacks and stuff like that for movie night and taking stuff out to the pool. Once they get the table and chair set up out there they could put chips and stuff all that in there, but your idea is much better as far as Dish towels, etc. to put over there

Our family has been sick one after another for almost a month, it has been awful. I'm finally feeling like today we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our chores have fallen to the side, we've been going for convenience foods or takeout soups if anyone even feels like eating. This video gave me the motivation to start to bring our home back to baseline. I'm really enjoying watching your journey and it's a great reminder to hear you say- It's ok, we'll get there. I think having your freezer in the kitchen is a good idea. My husband and I are having a second home built out in the country on the farm and my second refrigerator and freezer are going in corner of our living room just off of the new kitchen so I say do what works for you and your family and let your husband have his space it is a good thing 😊. I would store your large appliances in the butler’s pantry. I think the can goods are working well where you have them. The tall cupboard beside fridge would be a good place to put cereal and foods your kids get to the most and maybe the drawers could hold plastic wrap, bags, etc. , drink mixes. You could use a drawer near stove to store spices. You need to set up a baking center that holds what you use for baking-baking soda, baking powder, salt, vanilla, etc. bowls, measuring cups & spoons. You will just have to try things out and if it doesn’t work try another system. We’ve lived in our house 40+ years and I still re-arrange things in my kitchen and pantry.

Food in pantry. I don’t have any food in my kitchen cabinets except my spices are in a drawer beside my stove and above that drawer in upper cabinet is my baking soda, corn starch, specialty rubs, bulk spices…..pantry houses all other foods. Canned, pastas, rice, staples…When I bake I pull out my canisters needed. I know you will find your rhythm in time.

Hi Amy, the papaya's you have should ripen on the tree. those you showed aren't ripe at all. Look up Thai green papaya salad for unripe use.
Just a thought, below your built in shelves, could you have a 'buffet or a hutch? It could be used for extra kitchen dishes/serving dishes?
Your food in the kitchen can be a small amount of what you use frequently(next to the fridge-long shelf) but most of it in the working pantry in the hallway(white drawers), as you have it now, that you restock as needed. Corner in your kitchen island would be the best place for least used appliances/dishes. Have fun!

Amy, there is a wonderful truth for you. The only one who actually knows what day you film and post ...is you. You dont have to mention the day of the week at all! I'm just happy to watch what you feel like sharing when you share it! I still go back and re-watch a lot of episodes!!
Now, as for your spices, only keep the ones you use quickly on the shelf by your stovetop. The heat and condensation will ruin them fast. I moved mine to a drawer. Its easier for me. I agree with you, you are going to change and organize several times over. I think its coming along great!! 🎉❤

Hi congrats on your new beautiful home. In my kitchen I have it set up like you do now. I have an upper corner cabinet that holds the spices, oils s&p, above it some utensils like cheese grater we like but not always used but we know it’s there and choc chips (have to hide them or kids will snack on them) All the food is on pantry along with crock pots and rice maker and some other things. Nd remember just because you have a shelf (up high) doesn’t mean you need to use it. It’s ok to be empty. Or store things you seldom use or want to look at cuz it’s pretty and makes you happy 😊

Hi Amy, loving your new home! So, this is my opinion about moving things around in your kitchen and butlers pantry. I would say move your bigger appliances, i.e. crockpot, etc. to your area that has your bigger bins of flour, rice, etc. Otherwise, I would leave the dishes in the kitchen area because when you take them out of the dishwasher I wouldn't want to have to take all the dishes over to the butler's pantry. You may have already made changes now but I just wanted to share.

I’m glad you’ve arranged a day off from videos. Taking care of ourselves is important. The Good Lord gave us the Sabbath so we could rest. I do look forward to your videos, but would much rather see you claiming personal time to recharge. My thoughts while watching: For the lower corner kitchen cabinets, I’ve seen 3/4 lazy susans for exactly that purpose. I had a thought for the built in laundry hamper, maybe a portable hamper to fit inside it, easy to lift out. I like having multiple hampers designated for color or item types. One for lights, one for towels, etc.. The towels, I remembered so many organizing gurus saying keep things where you use them. And I thought of pretty chests or something like that outside near the pool, one for pool stuff and one for beach stuff. Out of your closet and accessible especially for pool towels. I like the idea of having all the food in one spot. Scattered in multiple locations in the kitchen, seems not so consolidated. Someone mentioned purchasing standalone pantries, I personally love that idea. Or building one either in an existing closet or even along a wall. I think the food is better off being visible. You’re on to something with putting most often used stuff on the lower shelves and less often used higher up. It will all take time, living with and tweaking your systems. I hope all your viewers can help you solve the issues and make satisfying progress.

Perhaps you could get a nice pot rack and hang it up in that open area above the sink side. Midwest Magic Cleaning guy uses a homemade formula for stainless etc. He calls it APC. 70% isopropyl alcohol, 30% water and 3-4 drops of dish soap into a spray bottle. The alcohol really makes it shine and dries fast. The stainless panels will really look so much better on the fridge. Have a great day!!

Okay so anything you use on a daily basis in the kitchen like dishes pots and pans stay in arms reach. The tall door pantry for bulk storage like you've done perfect. The food storage area is great for overflow foods and long term storage. The upper cabinet area is great for items you only use once maybe twice a year. The bottom deep depth cabinet would be great for appliances like your slushie machine and other appliances you again don't use on a daily basis. It may take upwards of a year to get it figured out take your time and enjoy the process. You have a lovely new home in Florida enjoy yourself and all the fun memories of this new place ❤😎

  • @annacummings5841

I actually like where you keep all of your canned goods as well as the tall closet but I would change the baking goods, rice, extra large spices, etc. in the pull out cabinets on the right of the fridge. I would also move the pots and pans in the cabinets next to the stove. The reason I would leave all of the canned goods in the butler pantry is because it's right at eye level and so much easier to see what you have. If it goes into the lower cabinets, you'd be on the floor or having to stand on your head looking for what you need. The one white tall skinny cabinet you have baking goods in would be great for cereal, chips, snacks, drinks, etc. I also like the idea of getting bins to organize the extra toiletries. You can label them too. Hope that gives you some ideas to kick around. ❤️🙏

My idea would be coffee station in Butlers pantry. Move coffee cups with coffee it. Make coffee and bring cup to kitchen for cream and sugar. That’s not bad. I like glasses near dishwasher for ease in putting them away. Then food where glasses are and in the cabinets next to fridge. I wouldn’t want food or dishes in lower cabinets. The closet pantry is nice storage too. I know you have a big family and used to stocking up but maybe not keeping as much extras would free up more storage. By the way, I love your cabinet color and the walls. So light and beachy. 😊

Good morning Amy! If it were my kitchen I’d put the stuff I reach for every day in the tall cabinet by the fridge , can stuff will fit in those pull out (or looks to be pull out drawers) in the cabinet. Then keep a cabinet in the butlers area for over stock and cycle thru it! I’d also take that drawer beside the stove to put my pot holders in (closer to the stove ) but that’s just my opinion. Also maybe take your big containers (flour , sugar etc) and put those in a bottom cabinet those won’t get pushed back and lost! But at the end of the day it’s your kitchen so whatever’s handy for you ❤

  • @called_to_homestead
    @called_to_homestead ปีที่แล้ว +1

I would personally put “commonly used” or “baking” (a ‘category’ of food )next to the fridge in the tall pantry there. I would then keep the other (the one you didn’t put there) in the pantry closet. Then the bulk/less commonly used items in the butlers pantry with less commonly used kitchen tools. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and it’s just how I could envision myself using it most productively.

The canned goods where they are definitely look great. I would clean out the little tall cabinet in the corner by fridge for cereal and snack drawer stuff you access more often cause how everyone usually gets snack and a drink or cereal and milk. Using the butler pantry for appliance storage and food stock. Just an idea. When we moved to our house now we moved from a bad situation with our old house but I still cried and wanted to go back just overwhelmed with a new way of doing things. Prayers that things start to become the new normal for you soon!

Your kitchen is a work in process. You will eventually figure it out as time goes on. No need to rush it. As you work in the kitchen it will come to you how to organize the cupboards and the butlers pantry.

Suggestion-I know you want to move that white cabinet with the barn doors out of there. That is a large wall that could be utilized for storage. Thought maybe you could get a cabinet (about 6 ft. tall cabinet and about the width of the white cabinet you will be moving)all enclosed and not very deep. You could free up all those cabinets that you currently have all your canned foods in by using the new cabinet for those cans. Beautiful house and family.

Put all of your pots and pans over by the stove in between the stove and refrigerator. The tall cabinet can be all canned goods in those drawers. Combine your coffee cups and glasses and move your coffee pot over. Food stuff that you do not use but maybe one in awhile, leave in your pantry. I have one and it holds all of my food. All of my glasses, plates, etc., go in one large pull out cabinet under my island which is so convenient. Just restructure your cabinet drawers.

I keep my cooler in my vehicle at all times...or a cooler bag. So that it's there whenever I go shopping. Just make a habit of emptying it when you get home, then putting it right back in your trunk.

Insulated Bag I had to keep in my car 24/7 when I lived in Florida. You already have the Kitchen settled, I would not make any more changes till you feel the rest of the house is settled. In 2 to 3 months you will, little by little, realize if or what you want to change. I have been enjoying your videos so much.❤❤

I am guessing the previous owners used cleaners that have left a residue on the stainless steel. I have a full stainless kitchen and I use a mixture I make of 1/3 cup rubbing alcohol, 1 drop Dawn dish soap, 2 cups warm water. Shake it up well, then spray. Buff in the direction of the grain of your stainless with a microfiber cloth. It may take a couple applications if the residue is layered on, but eventually the rubbing alcohol will cut it and your finish will be sparkling and streak free.

I would utilize the tall cabinet between refrigerator and wall for food but still keep extra food in the cabinets in the butler pantry. If you use bottom cabinets for food, you’re going to be down on your knees all the time looking for food in those cabinets. Keep the pots and pans and things you use every day, in the kitchen. I would put all my baking supplies, including staples like flour, sugar etc. in one spot so it’s all together. I would put all my small appliances together in one spot also. The top shelves above the glasses could be used for flat glass baking dishes ( breakables) you don’t use every day. Your home is beautiful! I’ve really enjoyed you bringing us along in your move too.

Perhaps on the kitchen wall where you had the entertainment center, you could create a food pantry using upper cabinet only as they are thinner, you could stack them or you could put them up and down with a thin counter. That way you could put your extra fridge and freezer in butler’s pantry area.

IF YOU SEE ANTS IN MAXINE'S FOOD....common here in Florida to get tiny ants you can barely see. If they get into her food bowl, use a flat dish like a pie pan and fill it part way with water and put her bowl in the middle. The ants drown trying to get across the moat. Works great for us.

Keep all cabinets to the left of the fridge as is. Utilize the cabinet to the right of the fridge for food and/or somewhat used appliances. It has drawers! You pull those out. That is a good cabinet.

For the kitchen, it’s nice to have so much room to use in your kitchen to keep a lot of your food. Keep your most used pans and baking sheets inside your kitchen. The rest can go to the pantry. Those pullout drawers are great for cans. They can hold a lot! You could keep baking canisters in the top shelves of the tall cabinet to the right of the fridge. And the top shelves are a great stop for chips and snacks since they aren’t likely to be crushed. The top pullout drawer in your tall cabinet in the corner could work great for spices as well. Another thing is to pay attention to which things you’re using the most and keep those things close to your cooking space.
I always keep cleaning things under the sink.
You’re going to soon realize that no matter how many times you rearrange your kitchen, you’ll still find new ways to fine tune your space and rearrange it all over again!
Your new home is just beautiful and I’m green with envy of your space and all of the storage you’ve got in your kitchen!

Amy, you don't really need the ice maker In the butler's pantry have a beautiful new frigerator that has a ice maker . By you storing the old ice maker, that'll free up some space in your butler pantry for you.

Hi Amy. They make stainless steel spray to clean. It is called magic stain cleaner. Removes fingerprints and stuff. Does not streak. Also papaya makes a good fruit salad with mango and pineapples and a fruit dressing. Cut in half long ways and scoop it out like cantaloupe so the seeds don't get in the flesh.

Papaya is also great for the digestion. The enzymes found in papaya are used in meat tenderizers. When I was pregnant and had the stomach ickies, I would eat 1 slice of papaya a day and it dramatically improved my indigestion. Not my favorite fruit to eat, generally, but it was absolutely my favorite at that time in my life.

I feel you can fit a lot of your everyday pantry food in your cupboard next to the fridge. You might find this much more practical than way over the other area. Over stock could go un your butler area 😊 everything else seems very well stored to me.

I can agree with suggestion of moving seldom used appliances over to the pantry but I actually agree with your arrangements. I’d rather run over to the pantry area to grab a canned good, or pasta, or other non perishable item, Thant to constantly lug pots, pans, etc to and from the work surface and dishwasher. But that is my opinion. Spices, popular and frequently used cooking items, drink ware, etc, I want on hand. I know when I cook I pull out my ingredients from a pantry and bring them to my prep station. While I’m cooking, I rarely have to run for an ingredient, it’s usually that I decide to use a different pan or something like that, that I found I need within easy reach. I think as you work in your new kitchen more, you’ll realize where you need things!
    Have a blessed day!

I have a small amount of my food that I use most in my kitchen then have all my extras in my pantry in my hall. I have to have my pots and pans next to stove and my small appliances in my kitchen. I have a deep cabinet above my fridge that holds most of my small appliances. I have a baking cabinet and it's the best.
