We got off the 2024 World Voyage in Hong Kong, so it looks like we just missed you. We've enjoyed the refreshed spaces on QM2. She remains our favourite ship in the fleet!
Chris, thank you for sharing. I love the layout of your entertainer cabin. Although the oceanview stateroom I occupied in December had the same layout as before. … Also all hot tubs were replaced and as commented the pools on decks 6 and 8 had their surrounding tiles colourfully replaced. And comes 2026, as told by a senior officer, Queen Mary 2 will undergo a major refit and refurbishment that shall last several months. It will be interesting to see the gap in the vessel’s schedule to validate this undertaking. …. Long live the Queen (Mary 2).
I love the new carpet in the Britannia Restaurant. Granted part of it may be my bias towards blue, but the wave designs used on the carpet are just absolutely beautiful. I also really like the new carpets in the passenger corridors: those pop out a lot.
We went on a Caribbean cruise out of New York in Nov/Dec last year straight after the refit and the spa was still decidedly tired with the foot spas to the right of the thermal pool out of order, abd the lido pool at the aft closed for 5 days due to a burst pipe!! Still our favourite ship, but Cunard please maintain the beautiful QM2 with more love and care
The Grills lounge had some new chairs, new carpet and recovered the couches. The Grills Terrace also has some new sectionals at the back under the roof and there are new metal chairs and foot rests looking port and starboard. The teak loungers remain with new cushions. A nice update to one of my favourite spaces onboard.
Thanks for the views of the refit. We loved our Christmas 2022 cruise, just have to wait for our next QM2 trip in Jan 2025. See how may difference we can spot. Thanks
Thanks, Chris for bringing us up to date. The changes are very nice without being too modern. I was hoping that they would change the starburst carpet in the lobby but that's just personal taste. I've never sailed on QM2 but I would like to one day.
Looks fab, makes me wish I had taken more interest QM2 way back in 2010, my second cruise ever and I realise now that she is a beautiful ship and I should have take a lot more photos 😎 Wonder if they refurbished the kennels up on the top deck?? Woof 🐶 🇦🇺❤️🚢
The WiFi upgrade was the single most anticipated update for many people. How is it working now? Sorry you’re not in QG as I was hoping to see some of those updates.
We were on the very next cruise and the cabin we had was discusting, curtains were dirty and the settee was also dirty. The external paint work still had rust showing through. So not impressed.
I got used to it on my cruise but at first glance I thought it was just old and worn out. Then you realise it's by design. An odd choice. Many passengers may not have realised and just thought it was worn out.
I hear the stateroom bathrooms still feature the nasty dirt attracting shower curtains. I am amazed these are still allowed on health grounds! Cunard fall further behind the opposition in many areas. Disappointing overall. Looking forward too seeing if new Q Anne puts things right.
Whilst tending to agree curtains can be replaced easily. Bathrooms shower cubicle are part of each stateroom unit, which is manufactured onshore, and then installed as a complete unit. Any changes to shower would be restricted to removing curtains and installing a door . Remodeling of cubicle itself practically impossible. A bit like reupholstering your car seats without taking them out of the vehicle 1300 times over😊
Pity it wasn’t done for our crossing to New York and back in 2022! We were most unimpressed by the boat and its facilities, including the food. Most disappointing and poor value for money.
What do you think of the changes made to QM2?
The Commador Club bar is terrible now the white furniture has been replaced
Es Hermoso! 😊❤

She looks beautiful, my husband loves this ocean liner. It’s hard to believe she’s 21 years old. We hope she’s in service for many years to come.
Thank you for letting us see so many areas of the post refit QM2.
Hope you are enjoying/enjoyed your time aboard.
Appreciate your keeping us informed.

Updates look Great for the Queen of the Seas!! Cheers!
Looks really well, definitely on our list to do a transatlantic crossing onboard QM2.
I believe the red seats that fold back in the planetarium were replaced. I also think the tiles around the pool on deck 6 were changed.
You’re right!!

Thank you for the necessary updates

The foot spas are up and running and the thermal pool looks like it’s been given a thorough cleaning and refresh.

It seems she is still the most luxury ocean liner now!!Thanks for sharing!
Stunning changes

Have fun!
Many thanks for this report Chris. I really enjoyed it!
It was all new to us wen we sailed I Feb as we had never sailed on her...we loved it all...
Very good. We board her in September for the round trip NYC-QC
A wonderful update- the ship looks lovely. Enjoy your time onboard

Did they do anything with the teak decking? Its amazing they just let it rot and dont correctly clean it and oil it.
It’s looking good today. I think it must have been sanded back and touched up.
Queens grill / deck 9. Corridor and in suite ceiling panels replaced, new carpet, sofa, curtains also in Queens grill suites.
Looks fab, makes me wish I had taken more interest QM2 way back in 2010, my second cruise ever and I realise now that she is a beautiful ship and I should have take a lot more photos 😎
Wonder if they refurbished the kennels up on the top deck??
Woof 🐶
🇦🇺❤️🚢
Hi Chris - have you ever done a video of RMS Fancanio ?? Very sad situation in Baltimore, MD USA -vs- bridge
Looks like the black hull got a new coat of paint.
I wonder if the Spa locker room showers now drain, instead of flooding?
Have the carpets along cabin corridors on all floors been replaced?

she looks great! how are the pods doing?
Hola. Me encanta tu trabajo felicidades 👌
Quiero hacer mi primer crucero y me emociona. Qué sugieres para empezar a buscar?
Some work was carried out on aft pool, reclining chairs in illuminations have been replaced
The skylight in the dinning room looks different as well.
It is! I’ll add that into part 2!
Chris has all the rust - especially on Grill cabin balconies been eliminated during the refit
QM2 forever
1:00 But they didn't bother to put the elevators back into the Grand Lobby.
The WiFi upgrade was the single most anticipated update for many people. How is it working now? Sorry you’re not in QG as I was hoping to see some of those updates.
Who are the pianists on board? Is Campbell Simpson still on board?
Yes Campbell is still playing in the Commodore Club and Akos.
You're the only cruise ship channel that doesn't make it ALL ABOUT YOU. Their egos stagger me!
🎉
Absolutely beautiful like always!! The Mary is the most gorgeous ship afloat
I didn't even know there was done already 🤔
We were on the very next cruise and the cabin we had was discusting, curtains were dirty and the settee was also dirty. The external paint work still had rust showing through. So not impressed.
The “faded effect” worked perfectly. It looked faded. Definitely not the best design idea.
I got used to it on my cruise but at first glance I thought it was just old and worn out. Then you realise it's by design. An odd choice. Many passengers may not have realised and just thought it was worn out.
We are looking forward to the day they update the bathrooms. But the updates shown are nice.
The Commandor club bar is terrible now the white furniture has been replaced
first
New carpeting, what a refit. LOL
Well it wasn’t a major refit
