Watching this game after the niners rams game was just insane. Great week of football.
It was damn ugly. I like how at the very end the Raiders could have not taken a chance on the field goal and both teams get to the playoffs with a tie. I'd like to think that the Raiders remembered Joey Bosa and his mouth from the earlier meet this year, and said nope, we'll knock them out.

Look, I am Steelers fan and I am grateful the Raiders won, although I have not a lot of high hopes but it’s good to see Ben play one more game, but I think the Raiders did something intelligent by going for the win because instead of traveling to KC they will go to Cincinnati.

@@ISayGreen. there was still 38 seconds left and only 4 seconds on the play clock so Raiders would've ran another running play regardless if the Chargers called timeout. Then they'd do the same thing after their running play, let the clock run down and call a timeout with 2 seconds to give the kicker a shot to win it. No division opponent ever wants to tie a rival. They want to win and stick it to them by being the ones that eliminated them from playoff contention.

Why do people think the Raiders were content with a tie? They were lined up in a shotgun formation when LA called the timeout. It seems pretty obvious they were going to continue trying to move the ball down the field to set up a last second field goal. The Chargers probably wanted to regroup or get a better matchup on defense on an important 3rd down play. Makes sense to me.
There's no way they were going to pass the ball at that point. The clock was running, and Jacob's was lined up to the right of Carr. Clearly, they were just going to hand off the ball.
At 3:56 Herbert acknowledges that had the Chargers not taken the time out the Raiders were going to leave it at a tie to put them both in the playoffs. But the Chargers calling timeout prompted them instead to go for the field goal and eliminate the Chargers.
i dont get why people think this, why would a timeout by the chargers change the raiders mindset? the situation was the same, regardless, either you call the time out after the run or you dont

I mean if I’m on madden, and an opponent takes a timeout when I have the ball and the lead, my mentality from running the clock out shifts to running up the score, I feel like it could be either but I mean if you run it either way the clock keeps ticking

What was even dumber was the Chargers not taking another time out before the FG attempt.
Well, they were setting up for a play which did not look like a kneel so i think the chargers, were thinking if we can hold them maybe we can win.
That said, tie or win, the chargers are in so not entirely sure.

I said this at the time and I am saying it now...this is why the Chargers are what they are and why the Raiders are a iconic franchise....all the Chargers needed was to leave it alone, take a tie and both teams go to the playoffs and Pittsburgh is out. But no...the coach tried to bleep the Raiders....rivalry aside...and we put them down. The Chargers coach and that team has not learned from that....to this day. Jacksonville....playoffs last year is another example. This is why the Chargers are always on their knees to KC Denver, and the Raiders...and the LA Rams too...always will be.

So basically in the playoff scenario rn if they would have tied with the chargers they would have both made it into the playoffs because the colts lost which would put them both at 9-7-1 over the Steelers and colts but since they decided to go for the win it kicks the chargers out the playoffs and puts the Steelers in because they won today very weird situation
Because if they try to kick the FG & it gets blocked & returned for a TD, then they lose the game & are out of the playoffs. Whereas if they tie, they are automatically guaranteed a playoff spot. And the reason the timeout was huge was because the Raiders were too far back for a FG & were just content to run out the clock, but the timeout allowed them to run another play & they got a long run to put them in FG range.
If it ended in a tie both teams would have made the playoffs and Pittsburgh would have been out, and it seems the Raiders would have been cool with that outcome, but since the Chargers called a timeout in hopes of getting the ball back and winning the Raiders said f*ck it and went for the win.

Just saw coach Brandon Staley in an interview today said he replayed the 4th and 2 on the chargers 18 decision five times on Madden 22 and Ekeler got the first down each time. Proving to the Charger fan base that Brandon is special and he should wear a helmet on the sidelines. Coach Staley also hopes next year to hear chants of 'Let's Go Brandon' from the fans.

@@allenbraun7300 faccs. In the end the timeout was ultimately a bad call due to the result and what the raiders said but in the moment it wasn't that dumb. If the Radiers were deadass trying to kneel the ball and end the game they could've done that by kneeling the ball with less than 40 seconds left. Instead they were in shotgun and made it seem like they were trying to win. All in all though i'm happy asf bc i'm a chiefs fan and would 1000% rather play the steelers than the chargers lmaoo.

There was still 6 seconds left on the clock when the Raiders were about to hike the ball...so the TO did not make a real difference. Raiders were going to kick a last second FG no matter what.
If I was the Chargers, I would not have called a TO, but maybe the had the totally wrong "D Play" called. Who knows, but really did not make a difference...Raiders were going to run the ball no matter what, then kick the FG.
